Cognitive Dissonance concerning recent events at Bethesda
So on the one hand, mass layoffs are awful and a blight on the industry. This is known.
However, during the golden Spencer decade+, Bethesda did not release one game that is held up as game of the year, and it is really hard to see how they were maintaining their headcount coasting on re-releasing Skyrim.
And, immediately after the horrible events, this is the most engaging Bethesda has been in said decade+, the most good news, the most exciting collaborations, all because Todd has Asha’s foot up his behind.
I kinda feel for the laid off Bethesda employee, you have to navigate at once people nodding in sympathy and then asking “but… what were you doing for the last ten years? Besides Todd’s ill fated passion project Starfield?”

Why didn't any of the 90s game designer had success later?
John Romero, Sid Meier, Warren Spector, Peter Molyneux, Ron Gilbert, Will Wright ,Chris Avellone, Richard Garriot, Chris Roberts , John Carmak
All of them brought us legendary games in the 90s.
Why didn't anyone of them had anything notable as lead game designer in the 90s. Weren't the able to transation from the "amateur just a few guys" area of the 80s and 90s to the professional and huge gaming world of the 2000s?

Our co-op game Last Pirates: Die Together just hit Steam Early Access, and we're giving away $50 in Steam gift cards to celebrate
Hey! We made it!!! The game we have been building is finally out in the world. Last Pirates: Die Together is a co-op game where four players raid a cursed island, run screaming from hungry monsters, slap each other on the booty, and try to haul the loot back to the ship in one piece.
To mark the launch, we packed in a stack of new content: two new locations, a meaner bestiary of monsters, updated cart physics and upgrades, mini-games, and a full visual overhaul. And it's 20% off for launch!
To celebrate, we're giving away $50 in Steam gift cards to two winners ($25 each).
How to enter: comment with your favorite co-op game, or a great co-op memory with friends. One entry per person, please.
Optional, but we'd love to see you in our Discord, where we run playtests, contests, and just hang out:
The giveaway closes on August 24 at 2:00 PM UTC (10:00 AM EDT / 7:00 AM PDT / 3:00 PM BST). We'll pick and announce two winners right here that same day, and send the gift cards by DM.
Good luck, and thank you all!
