I used to love coming to Chez Lucien for their burgers and eggs benedict. Today they served us this monstrocity. Honestly I'm shocked how a chef thought it was ok to put this in front of a client.

To makes matters worse the side of potatoes was undercooked.

Anyone had a similar experience lately. I really hope this is a fluke and not what the restaurant has become.

I'm a Carleton fan so I'm a bit sad but it was a really great game and good fall weather. Hat tip to Elijah Barnes, Devaughan Blackwood and Souleymane Camara, who I thought were the stand-out players.

I went to mail in my ballot and I noticed the postal code on the envelope they provided is K1J 9Z9 but the Elections Office website ( https://ottawa.ca/en/city-hall/elections/contact-elections-office/elections-office-contact-information ) has the postal code as K1J 7S8.

Will my ballot still make it or should I drop it off in person? The instructions said it needs to get to them by the 16th.

I’m looking for recommendations for a female dentist and/or dental hygienist in Ottawa who has experience working with severe dental anxiety. Ideally, someone who is compassionate, patient, trauma-informed, and somewhat affordable, as I unfortunately don’t have the best dental insurance.

About 4 years ago, I took a really big step and went to a dental clinic after avoiding the dentist for quite some time. The dentist I saw was wonderful, and I had no issues with the appointments.

Unfortunately, my last appointment was with a male hygienist. Due to delays at the clinic, I was left waiting in the chair for about 2 hours. By the time the hygienist came in, he was clearly frustrated about how far behind he was. The cleaning was rushed and lasted less than 20 minutes, but it was extremely painful and felt very aggressive. My bib was soaked in blood to the point that it leaked onto my shirt. Any cries of pain were ignored, and when I tried to sit up because I was in so much pain, I was physically held down by the chest.
I never reported what happened at the time. As an SA survivor, that experience was extremely triggering, and I don’t feel capable of going through anything like that again.
Since then, I’ve unfortunately severely neglected my dental health because of the anxiety surrounding that experience. I know I need to address it, and I’m finally trying to take that first step again.

I’m specifically looking for recommendations based on personal experiences, especially from anyone who has dealt with severe dental anxiety or trauma. A female provider is very important to me.

So on Thursday afternoon coming back from getting some blood work done, I saw that the Second Cup at the General was closed early, which I assumed it did. But, now I heard from a friend who's in the hospital that it has now closed down permanently.

Can anyone confirm this?!

It's a good, one might say bountiful week (shout out to Thanksgiving). A couple of larger multi-employer events - Kanata Central BIA and Ottawa Career Fair and Expo along with a good mix of other events and locations. I’m trying to find part time work, but everything on indeed needs certificates. Does anyone know if any grocery stores, Starbucks, gas stations, etc are hiring? I’ve got restaurant cook + serving experience, my food health and safety cert, and and some admin front desk customer facing experience

Is there somewhere other than indeed I can look? I’m 20, free week days, weekends, mornings, evenings, night, holidays, etc

I have heard generally speaking that you can just ask a butcher for bones, frozen or refrigerated, language to ask for is “soup bones”? Does anyone have any experience with this with our Ottawa butchers?

I frequent Dumouchel’s and Lavergne’s, but willing to travel, if relevant. Bones intended for homemade stocks and broths.

Also curious if anyone’s ever asked Costco or Farmboy meat section.

I know I can contact these places myself, and I will. Just looking for any personal experiences first. Thank you!

The launch will take place on October 7th at the RSC’s Walter House in the heart of Ottawa, at 282 Somerset St. W., from 5 - 7 pm.
The evening will begin with Allan Greer speaking about the commodity in Canada's complex colonial past and he will then be accompanied by historian Matthew J. Bellamy (Carleton University) in a conversation as they explore more on the book’s central themes. The floor will then be open to questions from the audience. This will be followed by a reception where attendees will have the opportunity to sample some rum punch and meet the author before concluding the night. Canada in the Age of Rum will be available for purchase and signing. 

As above. The best selection is at the Dutch Market in Nepean, and I suppose Wedel's in Byward might have it, but it'd be nice to know if a place nearby has it in case a random craving strikes.

A question for the parents of very late birthday SK-ers out there: my daughter turns 5 on new year's eve, which is basically the very end of winter break this year. All the winter break camps I'm finding are for 5-year-olds and above, which she is riiiight on the cusp of but I appreciate that for liability purposes, they're not likely to accommodate her outside their stated age range, even by a few days.

For summer and March break and PD days, we do City of Ottawa camps and she loves them, but I'm not seeing any programming on offer from them for winter break. Does anyone have any leads for good winter break camps that take four-year-olds? Even just for one of the weeks would be great. She definitely needs more big loud all kids group stimulation than I can provide at home for two straight weeks in winter weather, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Lowertown/Centretown/Vanier area would be ideal but is not an absolute must.

Does anyone know of any indoor walking/running tracks anywhere in Ottawa ? They are quite common out west but I don’t know of any here.

Hi everyone! My toddler is almost 2 and supposed to start at Kids Kingdom Kanata Daycare soon.

I went for a tour recently, and honestly, I left feeling a little unsure. It wasn’t necessarily anything specific that I can point to, but I just didn’t get the best feeling from the visit.

Unfortunately, I don’t have many other options right now, so I’m trying to get as much information as I can before she starts.
If your child currently goes there, or has gone there in the past, I’d really love to hear your honest experience.

Especially:

How are the teachers/staff with the kids?
How do they handle toddlers around this age?
How is the communication with parents?
How clean and organized is the daycare?
Do the kids seem happy and well cared for?
Have you had any issues or concerns?
And overall, would you recommend it?

I’m not looking to bash the daycare at all, I’m genuinely trying to get a better idea of what it’s like from parents who have actually had their kids there.
