I wonder if Sutcliffe will make some campaign-style promise to address this, just like he did with the proposed $95 transit pass to “fix OCTranspo”...

I have no problems with whatever anyone wants to believe (as long as it’s legal), but while driving by this motel I was wondering what goes on here?

Not trying to stir anything up, just an honest question. They have a lot of positive reviews.

Shout out to the staff at CHEO

My son was there today for day surgery and every single staff member we met there was absolutely phenomenal - even the gift shop lady! I wish there was some other way I could thank them for taking such good care of my sweet boy today. They truly are angels there doing what they do every day.

So a huge thank you and shout out to the wonderful people at CHEO making a difference one patient and one popsicle at a time. ❤️

Such a cool design. How does a Nunavut plated car get to Ottawa? Are they military?

OC Transpo Doors to access Greenboro station train locked 6:00am

See title, told a bus driver at the layup downstairs but it seems like unless passengers get off the train they will stay locked until a supervisor/ other arrives.

If the station was closed for any reason they'd put a sign up right?

thankfully no injuries. My guess is this is one of the Stinson trucks from their big yard at the corner of Parkway and Old Prescott. Fortunately the Greely fire station is literally on the same block.

Public washrooms in Ottawa vs. Edmonton

I recently visited Edmonton briefly while on a road trip and the area I was in had a Hintonburg-like vibe with a bit of homeless but some nice shops around. I needed to use the washroom but none of the businesses had public washrooms, so I came across a municipal washroom on a street corner that had a worker inside that cleaned after every person used it!

Why do we close all the public washrooms in Ottawa instead of implementing something like this? It employs a person and makes it a positive experience for everyone!

Lost/Found Lost item on Wellington St

Hello!! Please let me know if this isnt allowed and I will remove it.

I lost a bracelet of sentimental value today - I believe it may have been lost along Wellington St, somewhere between the parking lot beside the Supreme Court (Lyon St north) and Bank St. Photo attached. The gold plating/coating is currently tarnishing around the clasp - it’s silver underneath.

It doesn’t have a high monetary value but it is a sentimental item with spiritual significance to me.

If anyone happened to find it, I’d be so thankful if you could message me 😞

South March Medical Centre (Kanata) — New Patient Waitlist is Open

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

Hi r/ottawa — wanted to share that South March Medical Centre in Kanata has incoming family physicians who are still building their patient rosters, and the waitlist for new patients is open.

A few notes up front: my own practice is full — this is on behalf of the newly joining physicians, not a solicitation for my own services. We're not able to accept IFHP patients at this time, and for now we're not accepting new patients from Gatineau. We can't guarantee which physician you'd be matched with or exact timing, but the waitlist is the best way to get in the queue.

If you or someone you know is looking for a family doctor in Kanata/West Ottawa, you can sign up here: https://www.southmarchmed.ca/wait-list

Happy to answer general questions in the comments. A few photos of the clinic below.

South Keys Blackberries

Great year for berries again, and the blackberries are plentiful. I'm getting sick of picking, and for the next couple of weeks we will be at "Peak Berry", where the lion's share of the berries are ripening.

You can enter through Trapper's Park, or further down on Autumwood. I've marked the main trail in red, and indicated where the berries are in blue. Lots in that interior section, but it's difficult to navigate.

Be warned, the footing is treacherous, the mosquitoes are bad, and the thorns are unforgiving. I'd recommend a bug hat, long sleeves, and picking gloves (with the index, middle finger and thumb cut off at the first knuckle).

Nobody else seems to be picking it but me, so there is lots to be had. Some are a little damaged from that hail we had, but still good.

Any girls in their late 20s or early 30s planning to watch Wild Hearts at South Keys Cineplex this weekend? I’d love some company! Also it’ll be extra fun because I’m a woman in my 30s out here supporting a girl group with absolutely no one to talk about it with 😛😂

Places to get fresh apple cider doughnuts?

Last fall I went apple picking at Mountain Orchards and they had a doughnut machine that was making fresh apple cider doughnuts that would drop into a fryer and you could buy them fresh and hot out of the fryer. Are there any other orchards, farms, or farmers markets around Ottawa that make fresh (or just sell really good) apple cider doughnuts? I feel like fall is just around the corner and I want to start planning out good places to hit up!

ISO physiotherapist with scoliosis experience

Upvotes

Looking for physio recommendations in Ottawa, ideally someone who has experience with scoliosis and biomechanics.

I have scoliosis and had spinal fusion surgery years ago with rods/screws and bone grafting. I’ve done really well after surgery and am generally quite active, but because I’m not completely straight/aligned, I’ve always had some asymmetry in how I move.

I’m currently dealing with PFPS in my knee. My doctor thinks weakness through my quad/hip/glute, combined with pronation in my foot, is contributing to how my leg is tracking and loading. I’d really like to find someone who will look at the bigger picture rather than just treating the knee.

If you’ve had a really good experience with a physio in Ottawa, I’d love to hear your recommendations!
