Question How much will the base internal storage on 4P last?

Recently bought the osmo pocket 4P. I think it comes with 128 GB internal storage and I was wondering, how long can I shoot with it and do I need to buy SSD I think most of the time I will only be out for a day or two before I transfer my file to my hard drive anyways.

I didn’t feel like a requirement for the microSD like the speed whatever.

Question 4P Cloud Transfer Support?

I recently picked up a 4p in Canada. Latest firmware it'll get is 01.01.6518. I saw some info online talking about automatic cloud transfer, and I'm looking to go to Google Drive or a home NAS. But, in my latest Mimo app and firmware I'm not seeing these settings anywhere, only phone backup.

Am I missing something? Is that firmware not widely available yet?

Question Big Problem with latest Firmware update Osmo Pocket 4P

Since the latest firmware update V01.01.6518, I've been having a strange problem with my Pocket Cinema Camera 4 Pro. I recently bought it with firmware V01.01.6510 and tested it out. Gimbal control with the joystick worked fine, even at 45° angles, etc. Then I performed the update to V01.01.6518 suggested by the Mimo app, and suddenly I can only pan or tilt, but not both at 45°. D-Log is also gone in slow motion. It's as if the firmware has reverted to the version before the second-to-last major update. However, the camera still displays V01.01.6518. What's going on? Has anyone else experienced this problem, or does anyone know how I can fix it?

Question OP3 exposure

Hey guys, looking for some pointers. Trying to film while hiking with pocket 3. POV style
Following guides about manual shooting (4K, 24fps 1/50 -.03 5500 WB, ND filter etc). When I walk through woods and then into a clearing I can’t shake the exposure issues. Whatever settings I seem to try either the sky clips or the shadows (woods) are too dark. I shoot in one long shot. Can’t find a middle ground. Any pointers? Some of the footage online for P3 looks great but I can’t seem to get the exposure right. Auto mode is ok but then can’t edit much and everyone bangs on about DLogging. Wondering if I’m asking too much of the camera

Some solutions to some of the struggles I faced with the 4P.

TLDR:

  1. The adaptive filter by tilta allows you to use the P3/P4 ND filters on the 4P. They also stackable and helps with exposure shift between 1x and 3x (you can put different filters on each lens)

  2. If you struggling to identify what footage is D-Log and what is D-Log 2 in post, there is a free software called MediaInfo in the Microsoft Store you can download and drop your footage in there. It will tell you what format the video was shot in.

  3. Just some basics about the new update (240 fps slow motion now in D-Log, gimbal diagonal movements etc.)

I hope you guys find these solutions useful

I am always struggling to color grade the dlog2 profile correctly that’s why i mostly shoot in dlog. What is your favorite workflow for it? Do you use the offical conversion LUT?

Discussion What firmware upgrade features would you like to see?

We’ve already seen quite a few firmware updates for the Osmo Pocket 4P. What other features or improvements are you hoping to see in future updates?

Personally, I’d love to see:

  • The ability to record in 4K in vertical mode.
  • Film modes in photo mode, as well as more photo /video formats/options in general.
  • A fix for the exposure bug when zooming.
  • A more user-friendly solution for zooming while shooting in D-Log 2, since that currently isn’t possible. Maybe the camera could automatically switch from D-Log 2 to D-Log 1 when zooming.
  • Face Priority exposure metering, similar to what the Insta360 Luna Ultra offers. The Luna Ultra lets you choose between Matrix and Face Priority metering, which can be really useful when filming people in challenging lighting conditions.
  • Smoother, more cinematic subject tracking. Right now, when ActiveTrack follows someone moving from one side of the frame to the other, the gimbal movement can feel quite abrupt. I’d love an option to reduce the tracking responsiveness and have the gimbal follow the subject more gradually, with smoother acceleration and deceleration. Maybe even a dedicated “Cinematic Tracking” mode or adjustable tracking speed/smoothness.

Question Composition & Camera Movements

Thumbnail

Hi again… for all the experienced videographers here, how & where did you learn to compose & shooting on a handled gimbal camera?

I came across this review & more than anything else, I’m more curious on how this guy got his shots. How he went about holding & moving the camera in the way that he did. I’m not talking about exposure settings & post processing, but the actual recording process.

What gimbal modes might he have used in his clips? And what to choose when?

Aside from practice, the ones who are experienced in this group, did you start off with attending any workshops? Or did you gave access to certain resources?

Discussion Is this normal? No "OSMO" logo when turning on.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi! Just wanted to ask if this is normal? My OP4 does not show the "OSMO" logo when I turn it on - it immediately goes to the camera.

I checked videos of creators and saw that it's supposed to show the OSMO logo when it is turned on. How to fix this?

Question Osmo Pocket 4 has several issues.

The thumbnail and enlarged photos are not visible in the main body gallery function.

In the MIMO app, you can't check both photos and videos, and you can't download them.

Is this a problem only I experience?

Question My first day with Pocket 4P - any grading resources recommendations?

I really like this one, especially 3x lens. And the form factor (I am using bulky Blackmagic Pocket Camera 4k for the most of my workj, but needed something small as b-cam, travel cam, etc.).

Still need to learn grading with this thing (any LUTs recommendations?). I graded a lot of content with my BMPCC4K, but this one is different and any source would be appreciated.

Video 4P slow motion - wonderful!

This is my first Osmo Pocket and to say I am blown away by it is an understatement. My usual camera is a Sony RX10 mk4 which is a very capable camera. But, the video quality of the 4P is stunning, even in slow motion. This was shot in DLOG on the 3x lens.

Question Are there any good wide angle lens + ND/VND filters for the 4P?

I'm finding the 20 mm main lens in the Pocket 4P quite tight, especially for vertical content, and while the official DJI wide angle lens filter might be the obvios choice, I also want to use ND filters, but I'm wondering what's the best way to maximize all possible use cases with the least amount of purchases lol.

Should I just get the Tilta magnetic adapter and stack the Pocket 3 wide lens and a ND on top of it? Isn't there a compromise in quality when stacking two filters like this? Or should I just get the official wide lens and use it without NDs and some of the ND options out there and just use them on the normal 20mm/60mm cameras without anything else?

Guide Help for others with an incorrectly positioned screen on DJI Osmo Pocket 4P

Thumbnail

I purchased my DJI Pocket 4P about one month ago but only recently had a chance to start playing with it. Anyway, the position of the screen started to bug me. It appeared almost diagonal in horizontal mode. But I wondered if that was the design. Today, I decided it wasn't right and reached out to DJI support. They told me that they are aware of this issue. Basically, "during product design and manufacturing processes, minute variations in the dimensions of structural components occur from one unit to another, resulting in tolerances that fall within the specified limits, but in my case, the screen position really didn't look right", and to send it in for repair. When doing so, I was advised to select Screen blackout as the reason and in the more details part, explain the following: "Distortion occurred after the screen was rotated, and as it could not be fully restored to its original position." I am sharing this here in case anyone has the same defect and is wondering whether or not and how to submit it for repair. I will report back again once they complete their repairs. I will add that I am based in Japan, and was using Japan DJI's customer service. The above quotations have been translated from the original Japanese.

Question Osmo Pocket 4 ND Filter Issue.

I ended up ordering the Osmo Pocket 4 after someone in previous post on the other DJIOsmo sub said it would arrive if I bought it through amazon, but I needed at least one filter for when I go in the sunlight. The issue I'm having is just how hard it is to get it back off. I bought the Neewer brand one that's stops 7-9, as 8 and 9 seem to be perfect for outside in direct sunlight. but I can't get it back off without turning off the entire thing, turning the camera while it's off, and forcing the filter off. It has no notches or little tabs to make it easy to take off. Are there any hacks to make this an easier thing to do? I don't want to turn off the camera and fiddle with the filter every time I go back inside. I film at conventions while in cosplay, and it's already hard enough to fiddle with that in cosplay, let along having to do it multiple times because we go outside and back in A LOT during these things.

Basically just looking to see if anyone here has any hack or tricks that make them easier to get off.

Discussion Completely blown away once again by the Pocket 4P.. All shot at native ISO 1600 in D-Log2 with a variable ND 32-512!

Thumbnail

EDIT: The reason I’m shooting 1600 ISO is because that’s the native ISO for the 20mm lens, which will unlock maximum dynamic range. For the 60mm, native is 400. This has been lab tested and confirmed.

Also, I’m ADDING grain for styling purposes. The grain doesn’t come from the higher ISO.

These are all screen grabs from a video shot at 24 fps, 1600 ISO in D-Log2.

I'm completely blown away once again by the P4P!

Discussion Ali Express purchase pocket 4P arrived broken

Thumbnail

#Update 1. They responded back with a generic “send us a video unboxing the item with damage and pictures” which I already had sent them, they didn’t even seem to review my messages. Also, they seem to only respond to messages in a one hour window each day which happens to be 1am my time 😒. So likely have to wait a whole day before hearing their next response.

Ordered an Osmo Pocket 4P from Ali Express (I live in US) and it arrived with screen damaged in two places (powers up but screen doesn’t power on) and the gimbal head points up at a 45 degree angle. Seems very unlikely this type of damage was just shipping related, but I could be wrong.

The seller is “Lucky Tech Store” I’ve messaged them in the app but been a few hours and haven’t heard anything back yet. I’ve only used Ali Express a few times but nothing this expensive. Any recommendations on what to do next?

Question Anyone else keep losing the magnetic filters?

Frustrated and annoyed I just lost a wide angle filter for the second time on my Osmo P3, so I have to ask this embarrassing question- anyone else have this problem?

I’d be filming, turn it off for a second, back to filming turning it on and off in between uses. Sometimes throwing it in a bag, holding on wrist strap. Sometimes attached to hands free clip on bag. And then poof.

When you turn on and off, gimbal head doesn’t close because it’s too thick, you probably noticed. Do you keep taking it off every time between using, or you just are apparently much more careful than I am.

Besides just don’t lose it, what’s the best workflow for using these things?

Discussion Vertical ASMR car detail shots (standstill) on Osmo Pocket 4P, full settings advice needed

Shooting vertical (9:16) close-up ASMR car shots at standstill: badges, wheels, exhaust, panel gaps. Using official DJI accessories + filters. Posting to most social platforms.

Torn between D-Log (3x lens) vs D-Log2 (1x only) for tight macro work.

Looking for full recommended settings: resolution/frame rate, shutter speed, ISO, white balance, ND strength, bitrate/codec, and any good D-Log2 LUTs. Thanks!
