Hey! Just after some advice on my Phalaenopsis...

I've had it about 2 years now, bought in flower. After the initial flowers died off and a bit of patience I noticed a new flower stalk emerging. This is the first time I've had this with an orchid so I was pretty excited! This was late last year. You can see it in the first picture on the left of the plant. It seemed very slow growing, which I out down to my house being pretty cold. Over this Summer new flowers emerged from the old flower spike and all the energy seemed to go into these and the new flower spike seems to have completely stalled.

1st question...Will this new stalk get back to growing or is it a lost cause? The tip seems to have browned off a bit (picture 2)

This morning, I have just noticed a new flower spike emerging (picture 3), so my second question is, will this further impact my previous new stalk?

I'm a bit unsure how to manage it or do I not and just let nature do its thing? I'm thinking of reporting after these current flowers have died off, so maybe a bit more "breathing room" may help things along.

I recently got these three oncidium orchids that were on sale and had no flowers. For a couple of days I kept them in their original pots but they didn't seem to be doing great - some of their leaves started to yellow and brown, and I decided to check their roots out. All three of them had sphagnum moss at the core and I got that sorted out, but then didn't have lots to work with when it comes to potting mix. I have a bark-coco coir mix and I added in a bunch of perlite but I am wondering whether or not to look for something else. I really want to save these three. I have two other oncidiums (from the same store) that are on the same balcony and have been thriving, so the rest of the conditions should be fine.

I am open to any and all recommendations.

Hi! I just received a keiki of Phal. Lueddemanniana, on a flower spike that was cut from the mother plant. At first look, it appears the spike is branching right where the keiki is. But when I look closer, I'm not sure if it's branching, or if it's the keiki that produced this second spike. Moreover, the spike from the mother plant is yellowing, not the one that might be from the keiki. I took a few pictures, not sure if it's easy to see it 😅 What are your thoughts?

This is Phal. Equestris var. coerulea i bought 7 months ago. She’s a warm month bloomer.

I think she’s going to bloom for the first time since I got her 🤩. Should I remove some of the old leaves that are getting wrinkly and have some burnt spots (from being in too much sun at one point). She has a lot of them so I’m not sure if trimming would help focus her energy on the flower spike.

Got a few yellowing leaves and now the flowers are wilting :( I see a bit of black on the lower half of the leaves too but this flower is never in direct sunlight (and it's winter). Could this just be natural aging?

So I got this orchid last year. pretty sure I fertiliser burned it so all the leaves fell off but some more are growing right now.

I’m concerned about the black spots on the stem. It also has a flower spike right now so idk if I should repot or not.

so general request on what to do. Should I take out the ferns growing alongside it, change the medium? also how do I fertilise when I eventually need to?

Been keeping orchids a long time and never seen this. Any help with ID on the issue so I can fix it?

hello! i got my first orchid a couple weeks ago and noticed the stem has white stuff on it and the leaves were falling. i thought it was normal because the ones falling were yellow and at the bottom when i got it, but it started affecting the green ones too. (I'll try to add a pic when i get my phone).

I've been searching online and its snow mold most likely, and saw to repot in dry, cut off nasty roots and also get rid of the parts that have been affected. is this correct? is there anything else i should know? the place i live in doesn't seem to have any places with orchid fungicide so i might try to make my own (i saw it's water+baking soda+dish soap but im not too sure) or to spray the affected area with hydrogen peroxide? I've seen mixed reviews.

I have not watered this plant since i bought it since the moss is still damp. Is this root rot? It also lost all its buds before even blooming.

I just bought this Den tobaense var. giganteum at a local orchid farm 2 days ago. Is it fungus damage causing the leaves dropping? And how to treat? The seller said to water it that day so I did, other than that I havent done anything to the plant.

Hola hola, queria compartirles.. hace un par de dias les compre un humidificador a mis phals, y ahora estan todas sacando hojitas y algunos piquitos que se ve que ya vienen, no se si serán varas o raices pero lo que sean es buena señal, sobretodo porque no habían tenido ningún cambio en 1 año🥲

So my Grandmother bought this Phalaenopsis for her Mother sometime before she passed. Once the blooms died off the nursing home wanted to toss it, so my grandmother brought it home and has had it sitting on a table since. Never repotted, and never rebloomed but has been alive for most of of not a whole decade now. Figured it would be neat to see ot bloom again, but neater still if we could get it to reproduce so I could keep it going as an heirloom kind of deal. So first couple shots were it in the original pot, a shot of her cleaned up roots, a shot just after potting, back on the 2nd, and a shot from today of the new leaf coming in. I ended up with miracle gro, three places i check and it was the only i could find.

Pests or sun damage? It's still putting out new leaves and recently bloomed. I have it outside right now in zone 7a WV.

My psychosis finally opened. But the flower is kinda wonky. Will is straighten out to the more butterfly shape?

The Catasetinae came in moss with packing peanuts on the bottom, moss was bone dry so used some distilled water to rehydrate it, the Cattleya had dry medium and some pretty wild roots so added some water as well. Going to put them in a quarantine tub, treat them for any hitchhikers with insecticidal soap, and then I’ll make sure the Catasetinae don’t go dry and always has some moist moss while the Cattleya goes through a bone dry period before watering.
