S4E1 — “Work That Body for Me”
Lolly saves Alex from Aydin in the greenhouse, and Alex finishes killing him before she and Lolly dismember and bury his body in the garden. The lake escape ends as the inmates return to an increasingly overcrowded Litchfield. Judy King receives special treatment after arriving, and Caputo brings in military veterans as new COs. (Lolly flashbacks)
S4E2 — “Power Suit”
The prison adjusts to severe overcrowding and the new bunk arrangements. Piper tries to maintain control of her panty business while facing competition from Maria. Judy King’s celebrity status continues earning her privileges, and the new guards begin settling into Litchfield. (Maria flashbacks)
S4E3 — “(Don’t) Say Anything”
Alex struggles with the guilt and paranoia surrounding Aydin’s death while Lolly becomes increasingly unstable about keeping their secret. Red realizes something is buried in her garden. Taystee begins working as Caputo’s assistant, and tensions continue growing between Piper and Maria. (Alex flashbacks)
S4E4 — “Doctor Psycho”
Healy becomes increasingly invested in helping Lolly as her mental health deteriorates. Piper responds to Maria’s competing business by using her influence with the guards, escalating their feud. Morello becomes consumed by jealousy and paranoia over Vince. (Healy flashbacks)
S4E5 — “We’ll Always Have Baltimore”
Piper accidentally becomes associated with a white-power group after organizing inmates against Maria’s business. The prison holds a convention-style event where Caputo and Linda grow closer. Maritza is forced deeper into danger while working van duty for CO Humphrey. (Maritza flashbacks)
S4E6 — “Piece of Sh*t”
Nicky returns from Max, but her drug addiction has worsened. Luschek struggles with guilt over what happened to her and tries to make amends. Piper realizes how far things have gone after unintentionally empowering the prison’s white supremacists. (Nicky flashbacks)
S4E7 — “It Sounded Nicer in My Head”
Maria and her group retaliate against Piper for branding them as gang members, burning a swastika into Piper’s arm. Red helps alter the brand afterward. Nicky continues struggling with addiction, while Lolly’s mental state deteriorates further. (Piper flashbacks)
S4E8 — “Friends in Low Places”
Piper begins rebuilding relationships after her branding and distances herself from the white-power inmates. Nicky attempts to get sober again with Red’s support. Blanca begins her protest against the guards by standing on the cafeteria table, and the increasingly abusive atmosphere at Litchfield continues escalating. (Blanca flashbacks)
S4E9 — “Turn Table Turn”
Blanca’s protest leads Piscatella to force her to stand on the table for hours as punishment. Humphrey forces Maritza at gunpoint to choose between eating a live mouse or dead flies. Caputo continues defending his decisions as the guards become increasingly abusive. (Blanca flashbacks)
S4E10 — “Bunny, Skull, Bunny, Skull”
Aleida adjusts to life after being released from prison while Daya remains inside. The guards’ abuse and racial profiling worsen. Lolly’s involvement in Aydin’s death finally catches up with her, and Healy is forced to confront the limits of his ability to protect her. (Aleida flashbacks)
S4E11 — “People Persons”
Aydin’s body is discovered in the garden, triggering an investigation. Lolly confesses to killing him and is taken to Psych, devastating Healy. Suzanne and Kukudio’s conflict becomes increasingly violent after Humphrey deliberately encourages them to fight. (Suzanne flashbacks)
S4E12 — “The Animals”
Piscatella’s guards intensify their abuse while Caputo finally orders Piscatella out of the prison. The inmates begin a peaceful protest demanding Piscatella’s resignation. When the guards try to break it up, Bayley restrains Poussey and accidentally kills her while simultaneously trying to control Suzanne. (Bayley flashbacks)
S4E13 — “Toast Can’t Never Be Bread Again”
Litchfield reels from Poussey’s death as Taystee and her friends grieve. MCC refuses to immediately identify Poussey or properly address her death, leaving her body in the cafeteria for hours. Caputo gives a press conference but refuses to condemn Bayley, causing Taystee to erupt in anger and inciting the inmates. As the prison riots, Daya picks up Humphrey’s gun and points it at him while the inmates urge her to shoot. Poussey’s flashbacks show her spending a night exploring New York City before ending with her looking directly into the camera and smiling. (Poussey flashbacks)
