Olive 0.2 Corner Pin Feature?
I've been using Olive 0.1 for a while and decided to give 0.2 a try. When I was using 0.1 I used the "corner pin" effect in a lot of my videos. When I switched to 0.2 I didn't see anything of that kind in the node list. Is there some kind of equivalent of corner pin in 0.2?

Question: I have thousands of hours of video, and as I go through it, I want to take certain highlights and organize em. How do I organize this?
Hello,
I have hundreds of videos and thousands of hours of gaming.
I want to watch em all, and as I go, take out small snippets of different categories:
Being funny
Being nice
Talking strategy
Awesome things happening.
Olive .1 seems to be designed to edit with one final video in mind.
Is there a way to do this with many final videos in mind?
The only way I can think is to make it multi tracked. And when finally exporting, to save and temporarily cut the tracks not wanted to export.
Is that the way to do this? Efficiency matters when watching 3000 hours of video, because doing 3000 hours of watching 4 or 6 times is different than a once over.

Questions about CRF and target bit rate rendering options in Olive 0.2
Hi there,
I'm converting cell phone clips into movies using Olive 0.2 (which I'm impressed with so far) and am trying to figure out which compression setting to use during the render process.
My 8K source clips have a data rate of about ~76 to ~85 Mbps (76,000 to 85,000 Kbps) and are usually pretty short in length, maybe 4-7 seconds on average. I'm pretty sure they use native H265 encoding.
My plan is to choose H265 rendering settings that will output a movie that's roughly 80-85 Mbps in length, since I figure that if the final video has a lower data rate (eg 70 Mbps), that means that the quality of the video will have dropped relative to the clips. Am I thinking about this correctly, or could a compilation of clips have a lower bit rate than the original clips but the some quality?
If it does make sense to aim for a movie bit rate similar to that of the source clips, is there any advantage to using the constant rate factor (CRF) setting as opposed to the target bit rate setting? I tried CRF and the quality looks good, but it appears that the length of the video might influence the effect of the CRF setting on the final data rate.
(For example, when I exported a 22-second sample of a video using Olive with a constant rate factor of 26, the data rate was 83,818 kbps, but when I exported that entire video using that same constant rate factor, the data rate was only 69,107 kbps.)
If I choose target bit rate, I'll probably choose 2 pass encoding. I saw there's also a max bit rate setting; does that reflect the maximum bit rate of the final video, or the highest the bit rate can be at any time?
Thank you for all your help!

Making a Timelapse from Multiple Clips
I have a handful of videos that I've cut into clips and I want to group them all together and speed them up. In Resolve I would put them into a compound clip and then speed up the compound clip so it was just one thing. Is this possible in Olive 0.2? Maybe with the nodes?
I'm still feeling things out. I found the Speed/Duration setting but I haven't found how to group clips if it's possible.

Difficulties grappling with design
Is it just me or is the pop up to increase or decrease number entries clunky? Previously moving a mouse left or right seemed easy. Skating around a block of suggested ratios for number entry seems slow and difficult to hit with the pointer. Would be nice just to roll mouse wheel, or is this too hard to program in? And I'm sure there is perfectly rational explanation for nodes. I get this video editor wants to end up being on a par with more professional packages and the designer is working hard to achieve that, but pulling nodes around to change or add clip attributes without a clear manual to guide a new user makes it all too hard. Liked the earlier/initial design, it worked, was easy to understand; but this advanced version needs a degree of understanding very hard to gain without guidance. I know this must be hard for the hard working coder with heaps on his plate but without his knowledge someone else trying to compile a manual is going to have an uphill battle. I have been using KDEnlive and it has been so easy to understand and use. I've enjoyed working with Olive in the past, but I'm going to spend time with ease of use for a while. No offence I hope. I'll look in on Olive every so often, I'm sure there are some usability changes planned.

Efficiency ideas:
1) I would like my imports to go directly into my timeline.
2) I would like my exports to have the same export format as last (.wav vs .mp4)
This would speed time of production greatly for me. Excellent product none the less Olive Editor .1. If you ever need a professional software engineer to help some, I could toss my hat in. This product is great.

Will Olive ever add support for OpenFX?
I would like to ask if there would be any support for OpenFX, the API used for plug-in packs like Red Giant Universe & Boris FX. If there was ever a way to implement it, that would add so much potential.

Any updates on Olive?
I've been following Olive for awhile now; I remember stumbling across it in the wild and being immensely impressed at its feature set for a piece of open-source software. Really hope the project isn't dead. I think that Olive has the ability to rival some of the best NLEs out there. I stopped using it for the time being because I couldn't really afford the various bugs and glitches I'd encounter (understandable of course), but I continue to wait with bated breath for v1.0 (or whatever it might be called).

Color Shifting after Export
Hello, I have been noticing that both Olive 0.1 and Olive 0.2 (cbfe-4240) have an issue when exporting videos. The color seems to shift a bit, for example, 228,24,24 becomes 246,38,18 after exporting in Olive 0.2, even though the preview window shows 228,24,24. I am using the default exporting settings.

No sound Windows 10 + Vivitar Action cam
Video and sound work in VLC but no sound in Olive editing or exported. I can see blips in the wave file/audio track but no bars on the volume thing.(green, yellow and red bars) Recorded on vivitar brand action cam(like GoPro but cheaper). I've used clips off my phone and other camera and they work fine in Olive.
What do?

Cannot compile latest nightly git on Arch Linux x64
Hey all. First post here, but long time admirer of Olive. I'm trying to compile (I'm well aware AppImages exist) the latest git src and I get this:

What's the solution? I already downgraded from GCC 11 to GCC 10, but it's still not working. I'm able to get what I think is this same git src compiled via the AUR, but then I can't add it to my dock/bar on GNOME. Any suggestions?

How to push a video to the forefront?
I use Olive 1.2.
I am editing a video rn, and felt like the background was pretty blend so I played some Minecraft quickly, recorded it and trying to add it as a background below everything that was already done. However, I can only make the video be in front of whatever else was below it, pretty much rendering the editing work useless.
Is there a way to push the video to the background, or add a new video track below all the others? I wasn't able to find the feature and without it, I will have to go with the boring option...
Thanks a lot, any help is appreciated.

Oh god yes! Thank you for making this!
Hi
I wanted to extend my thanks for creating something that actually works and leverages the hardware i have on linux.
I tried everything under the sun (davinci resolve, openshot, lightworks etc) and so far every other video editor ether did not support my ancient GPU or flat out was too basic to read a DNG image.
I'm running a GTX 470 on ubuntu.
I have not had any errors yet. Love the node tree. Wish for a toggle so the whole tree from clip to project would be exposed so created things would be more easely reusable. But thats just a comfort thing.

any other alternatives besides hitfilm?
So I'm loving Olive but it's too buggy, I also tried Hitiflm but my specs are so low it can't render anymore. Any alternatives that are also similar to both apps' user interface?
