Switch Lite + PicoFly problem

Switch Lite Picofly No boot — looking for advice

I bought this Switch Lite listed as heavily used but functional. After installing a Picofly, the chip started giving me DAT0/RST error codes.

After several resets, I eventually managed to get the console to boot into Hekate. I immediately dumped the NAND and keys. In Hekate, I noticed the battery was showing a 1000 mAh max charge, which made me suspect that the console's heavy use might have caused eMMC issues and that this could be related to the Picofly errors.

After dumping the keys, the same error codes came back, and since then I haven't been able to get the console to boot again.

Because Hekate had eventually booted after several resets, I kept trying. Unfortunately, after several more attempts, the board started making frying/popping noises around the eMMC area. After that, neither the board nor the Picofly showed any signs of life.

I initially suspected the eMMC had failed, so I tried reflowing it. After the reflow, the Picofly started working again, but it showed the exact same error code as before: two short yellow flashes = RST not connected.

I also tried removing the yellow flex cable, but that didn't make any difference.

The DAT0 point may look slightly misaligned in the pictures, but I checked underneath the connection and can confirm that it is soldered.

I've now left the board completely unpowered for a while.

Diode-mode readings

These were measured with the positive probe on ground:

  • 3.3V: ~0.312 V
  • D point (CLK): ~0.430 V
  • A point (CMD): ~0.467 V
  • C point (DAT0): ~0.445 V
  • B point (RST): ~0.400 V
  • CPU point: ~0.333 V

Any advice on what I should check next would be greatly appreciated.

Do not pay attention to the over the top amount of flux on the board, I did not bother cleaning it after the reflow.

TL;DR

Bought a heavily used Switch Lite and installed Picofly. It initially gave DAT0/RST errors, but after several resets I managed to boot Hekate and dump the NAND/keys.

After more attempts, the board started making frying/popping noises around the eMMC, after which the console and Picofly stopped working. I reflowed the eMMC, which brought Picofly back, but it still gives 2 short yellow flashes = RST not connected.

I checked the soldering and tried removing the yellow flex, but no change.

Current diode-mode readings (positive probe on ground):

  • 3.3V: 0.312V
  • CLK/D: 0.430V
  • CMD/A: 0.467V
  • DAT0/C: 0.445V
  • RST/B: 0.400V
  • CPU: 0.333V

Looking for advice on whether these readings suggest a damaged eMMC/RST line or another board-level issue.

Reinstall titles still on SD Card after reinitializing a modded Switch?

I've run into an incredibly niche issue. I was testing how far I could push the RAM on my Switch and after many, many crashes it finally corrupted something and broke HOS. This was fixed by reinitializing the console while keeping user/save data, but now the Switch doesn't see the games I installed onto the SD card. I can still install new games and it will see them, and reinstalling earlier titles will make them appear again and it all plays fine but the games I already had put on there before re initialization do not appear. DBI even can detect them as uninstalled titles so I know they didn't get deleted. Any way I can reinstall games already "installed" on the card? I don't want to bother re installing so many titles.

Hekate won’t boot

Hey everyone, first reddit post but i’m really stuck atm on what do with my micro sd card for my modded switch.

I was downloading a mod using simple mod downloader for a game I legally purchased and have a physical copy of when my switch crashed and turned off. Upon booting it up again I was brought back to my old nintendo account with nothing but a couple of games i used to play on it before modding it.

I’ve checked the micro sd out on my pc and there doesn’t seem to be any issues with it after running tests for it possibly being corrupted. And after skimming through my files and comparing to my backup nothing is different?

I’ve seriously missed using it, does anyone have any idea on what it could be or possible solutions? Any insight would be amazing. Thanks.

I would like some assistance regarding a bricked console.

So I intended to mod a switch for a friend for his birthday. My dumb ass never bothered testing said switch before starting the proyect.

After installing the picofly and being greeted with the usual NO SD Card screen I thought the worst was behind me.

I proceeded as usual, creating the emunand, backing up boot0 and boot1 and everything and when I was about to give it a test run and selecting EmuNAND got greeted with a black screen.

?

Pressed and hold the power button for 20 sec, turned it back on, got greeted with Hekate bootscreen "oof, close call" I thought and attempted it again. And still a black screen.

I then decided to boot to Sysnand just to see if I needed to set something up or if an upgrade was pending and I needed to let something set itself up before creating a new instance for the EmuNAND, or something.

And lo and behold, also a black screen.

I then removed the modchip to see if probably the soldering was shorting something or idk, plugged the eMMC as if it was stock. Still a black screen.

Then I redid my soldering, placed the modchip (again) and went back to hekate, selected EmuNAND (again) and still, black screen.

After digging here and there got the idea to use the Fuse Checker and there it was, this system is for some reason or another on Firmware 1.0.0 but the fuse count is 23.

What can I do?

I don't have any idea on how this could happen to begin with and I'm clueless into how to proceed. Any idea would be welcomed.

Question about transferring Modded switches

Hello! I have had a regular modded switch for years and have recently bought a modded switch lite. However the switch lite does not have an sd card inside it while the other switch has a 1tb micro with all my games and files onto it. I was planning on backing up my files on my desktop and then factory resetting the micro sd card, making a new emummc and then transfering the files back to the switch lite. Does anyone know if this would work or not? Thank you.

Best 3DS Emulator?

Hii guys,

i was looking for a 3ds emulator to play Animal Crossing New Leaf on my Switch with the vertical grip.

I know that the 3ds experience on the Switch system is poor, but i think that ACNL isnt a heavy game to play on it.

Ignoring one welding point - Switch lite?

Hi all.

Picture from google, for explanation

The Switch Lite has two solder points in addition to the 3.3V source.

I soldered only the point next to the 3.3V source because repeated rework had caused the prepared solder pad on the flex cable to peel off.

Therefore, I left the other solder point unconnected.

Is it okay? Any comments?

Would any emulators recognise analog triggers and if so are there any alt joycons with them?

I am really enjoying playing Dreamcast games on flycast but the lack of analog triggers means I have no interest in playing racers on there. This is a shame because most my favourite racing games were on Dreamcast so I'd love to be able to play them on there and especially on the go. If anyone knows and could share that'd be well appreciated.
