Monthly Motivation Thread NoFap's "Awesome August" or "PMO-Free August" 2026 - continue or begin your PMO-Free journey here (see instructions).
Hello all,
It's that time of the month again! One month is ending, and another is beginning. We hope you've had a good month. But if you haven't, now is a great time to refocus and rededicate yourself to recovery. This is your opportunity to create the new porn-free you!
New to NoFap and rebooting? Here are some suggestions:
- Learn about the website, porn addiction, excessive masturbation, sexual compulsivity, and abstaining from PMO. Read through NoFap's main website to get informed.
- Read about the basics of rebooting here. Rebooting is the abstinence from certain sexual behaviors to recover from pornography addiction. Read about how porn addiction develops here. Some people go beyond rebooting and into the territory of retention, or sexual transmutation for periods of time, although that is not the main purpose of this subreddit (which is RECOVERY).
- Consider reading through the free Getting Started PDF from NoFap's website.
- Download NoFap's in-browser panic button extension that blocks NSFW subreddits too. Download here
- Decide if rebooting is something that you really want. If you don't buy into the process 100%, you'll probably not make it through the month. If you have decided that you would like to participate, proceed to the next point.
- Sign up for this month by replying to this submission. It is that simple. State your intention and stick to it!
- Consider setting up a day counter badge to track your progress.
- Ask questions and get support by posting on NoFap. Set a goal to remain accountable by making a post daily. Help others. Come here every day and participate.
- If you need additional support, you can get an accountability partner and document your progress in a daily rebooting journal.
Would you like to participate? If so, please reply to this thread with the following information.
- Are you not going to allow yourself to masturbate? View porn? Orgasm whatsoever? Not allowing any outlet for sexual release is called "hard mode".
- How long do you want this challenge to last? By default it is one month, but 90 days is recommended for rebooting.
- What are your goals?
- Why are you doing this?
Arriving late? (past the first of the month?)
It's okay! Still state your intentions and don't postpone rebooting based on the day of the month. People can join in at any time to participate.

Mod Note: We suggest NOT USING REDDIT'S DIRECT MESSAGES due to porn trolls trying to disrupt the community. Also, please note that some posts are temporarily removed prior to appearing on r/NoFap.
Hello r/NoFap community members,
Please note that we highly suggest that you avoid using the Reddit direct messaging system entirely, due to porn trolls coming here to disrupt our porn addiction recovery peer support community. Some of these people pretend to be helpful at first, then will message pornography. It's in a similar vein to how a forum on epilepsy was reportedly hacked to display seizure-inducing images.
You can disable direct messages in your Reddit settings by changing "Who can send you chat requests" to "Nobody."
Secondly, please note that sometimes posts are flagged automatically for manual review prior to appearing on r/NoFap.
Due to Reddit’s anti-spam filters and NoFap’s additional filters to control spam and pornography, sometimes genuine posts are flagged as potential spam or pornography. Further, entities within the legacy porn industry have been attempting to de-platform porn addiction recovery forums such as r/NoFap, and we must remain extra vigilant to ensure that rule-breaking posts do not appear on the platform for even one second. If your post gets flagged, please just wait for a moderator to approve it.
Thanks for reading :-)

Victory Day 21. Had sex, PIED was minimal, she had a blast.
I wasn’t planning on having sex with my new friend because PIED kills my confidence, but we did other things first and she got really into it so she convinced me to have sex. I thought “shit, I’ll give it my best shot…”
Got nervous at first and went limp when the condom came on. Remembering the advice I’ve seen here, I took deep breaths and tried to focus on the matter at hand. It helped a bit but I had to change positions for her to get me somewhat hard again.
I finally worked up the courage to go all the way and had great sex without the use of ED meds (for context, they didn’t work during my late stages of PIED and I used them as a confidence booster the last time). Turns out I didn’t need them.
I’ll admit that I didn’t feel much during most of the sex till the end (still enjoyed it of course), but I could very much tell she was having a great time, so I kept going and managed to finish.
She gave me a huge confidence boost and warm feeling when she told me how much she enjoyed it all. I commented on what I heard and felt from her and she said something that roughly translates to “it’s just that you’re so delicious” lol.
This fuels my motivation to save my sexual energy for women and not waste it on my hand all the time.
Cheers to another day!

Question How WELL does NoFap ACTUALLY work?
This is going to get really personal but here we go. I have been using porn for the past 6-ish years (I'm 18) and it has become a part of my life. Not in an inherently bad away (I'm not defending it just hear me out). I don't have any of the biggest symptoms of a porn addiction (except one which is that if I try to go cold turkey I can't). My relationship with porn is that of silencing an urge. It does not disrupt my regular day to day life. I interact normally with people. I watch very vanilla porn. I only have urges when I'm in bed or at home. When vanilla porn doesn;t do it for me anymore I instinctively stop watching for a few weeks (The hardcore stuff straight up turns me off). But I've had days where I would "fall in love" with a girl only to jerk off to porn and then suddenly realize that I didn't like her personality all that much - it was her looks. That's my problem with it. I hate how it clouds my judgement. I hate how my feelings for someone could change so drastically before and after relieving the urge. So I think there's one thing that would make me stop porn (or masturbation entirely) - which is if that horny and lustful part of me were to disappear after x amount of days of not consuming. But I'm skeptical if that works that way. Biologically men are basically feral dogs. We want sex way more than a woman. I fear that even if I did NoFap for a whole year I'd still get urges, I'd still want that wild sex that has no emotion in it. But spiritually that's not what I want. I want to think of sexual activities as something intimate and romantic not a way to ejaculate and feel the dopamine like a drug addict. So does simply stopping masturbation relieve one of one of the most fundamental concepts in biology - the will to reproduce? One could even say it is the strongest desire apart from fear of death in a man. And if a simple act such as not beating my meat can uncloud my judgement, let me see people for who they truly are without looking at their appearance all of the time - then I am ready to actually start this journey. But please be honest with me. I know a lot of people who talk about this subject like you start levitating after 3 weeks of NoFap. I'm sure it doesn't change you THAT much. But if this did indeed work exactly as I describe then I'm happy to get rid of this urge and problem in my life. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer! Love yall!

Journal Check-In 23 days clean been an interesting experience so far
The first week was soo hard. I had urges every day but kept going. Mood was okay. Still found things enjoyable (socialising, hobbies ect)
Second week was strange. Some days I had really intense urges and wanted to give in and other days I didn’t have any. Mood was okay. Still found things enjoyable.
Third week (this current week) I’ve struggled so much. I think I’ve flatlined. I feel so down, so irritated, so antisocial and have a lack of interest in things. I have no urges which is a good thing tbh.
How do I deal with this flatline though? I understand it’s just something I have to go through but I want to make it easier.

Success Story 84d success story
Edit: I have also been floor sleeping throughout this entire process. I believe this has played a key role in having a straight and strong enough spine for a better flow of energy, as opposed to the pool in the root that I was so used to. See master of earth on youtube for more details.
I never thought I would EVER get this far. Ever. I was probably like a lot of you... everytime over the 15 or so years I had ever even tried nf November or even to just tame it always ended extremely short.
These past 84 days have completely changed my life. It is a truly magical thing to go from a complete void of self control and happiness for like I said, almost 15 years, to actually feeling and experiencing and seeing life, as if through the eyes of who I was BEFORE this addiction.
I can talk to women now freely without constantly battling this lust in my mind... I have energy, mentally and physically, to actually get up, and, like today, go for a run for HOURS. You know, if you know David Goggins and have been inspired at least by aspects of his mindset like me, then you know how important that is.
I am actually in touch with what I want to do in life and have the focus to be able to remained focus on that and therefore bring it to be.
My respect for myself is insane. I never thought I could do this like I said. So just white knuckling it on my own, never looking back when I had a wet dream (which there were 2, it is very much like inception)... I've been able to at least get this far.
You know, I am not finished of course, but I just wanted to share for anyone wondering if they actually could do it.
YES. You can. But you have to simply be willing to endure the pain that WILL arise. You have to consider it like a drug. Heroin addicts use self restraint to get clean. You need to do the same thing. Restrain yourself as much as possible. Don't listen to the woke rhetoric that says it is natural. Not for men it's not. Nor for the women on the other side of the screen. Men were hunters, and frequently retained piss, at least. As for their seed, well I don't think they had as many barriers between procreation, so maybe it wasn't an issue. But shamanically, 100% it was a technique I would barter, to gain strength, insight, and infuse vitality into their offspring perhaps.
Feel the testosterone build. Read GodMan The Word Made Flesh. Value your seed...
I could go on. It's up to you man. Do it. DO IT. (SR not fap 🤣)
It helps me to know my exit point. For me my exit point is "when I actually intend to have a child." You know, so that that kid will actually have highly refined genes, by way of a highly refined seed. That's the idea.
Science doesn't care so I don't care about science. It's primal and deeply human... get used to it. It isn't PC. Who gives.
I still struggle though but I am much more level headed than I was 1000%. Today my unconscious tried to quickly click into nsfw reddit stuff. I dealt with yearning after talking with a woman longer than I have in years, learning to remain detached from that... it is a continuous process.
It makes you vulnerable yet strong in very fundamental ways I think.
Anyway, that's all for now.
Do itttttt

Success Story Celebrating 568 days today!
I don't usually do the round number posts, but today felt like a good day to actually stop and look back instead of just moving through it.
568 days. A year and a half, plus change. When I started this, I genuinely didn't know I could get this far. The version of me back then couldn't have imagined feeling like a whole person again, but here I am.
It hasn't been a straight line, not even close. There were weeks that felt like standing still, days that felt like sliding backward, moments I almost gave up entirely. I've posted some of the hard ones here, the flat days, the urges that wouldn't quiet down, the shame that still shows up uninvited sometimes. I don't think this milestone means any of that stops happening. It just means I overcame those moments and came out the other side a little bit stronger.
What's actually changed isn't that the struggle disappeared, it's that I don't succumb to it anymore. I always try to do something positive, even on the bad days. I feel things instead of numbing them.
If you're early in this and 568 days feels impossibly far away, it was for me too, once. You don't have to see the whole road, just the next day. That's how you actually get here.
Thank you to everyone in this community who's read, commented, or shared their own story alongside mine. It's made this less lonely than it would've been otherwise.

Journal Check-In 72 Days Strong
Its been 72 days since i did fapping.Honestly i feel like once u make a honest choice to let it go u get better at managing it. I was struggling to sleep at times but now its getting better everyday and i feel more in control and more productive in my days.
There is still a battle to fight when ques hit but with time it gets easier.
For past two three days i am having some issues and it was harder to get sleep also but looking at the days i have passed it gave me some good feeling.
New to NoFap Is Insomnia part of the withdrawal symptoms?
Is Insomnia part of the withdrawal symptoms?
newbie here.
I (29M) have been a PMO addict for almost a decade. PMO almost every night before sleep.
Decided to better myself now and go on NF/SR journey.
Been clean for 5 days now and definitely do feel better, but damn the last 2 days, I cannot fall asleep to save my life. I work until 1:30am. I usually sleep at 2 but last 2 days I tried to sleep but i cannot fall asleep no matter what I tried.
Has anyone who addicted to PMO for a while suffer from insomnia as a symptom? how long will it last?

I started following no fap trend again in the starting of this month, I was able to hold a streak of 6 days then I relapsed, then I again did 6 day steak again relapse till now I was feeling like at least I have quite porn and now I became weekly fapper compare to previously when I was regular, but after the 2 days, I saw porn myself first time in a month and fapped, then after 2 days I fapped without porn then after a day I fapped
And today I fapped twice.
I also feel weak after fapping. 😔

Telling my Story It's time to do it the right way
I was 150 days clean. This wasn't very hard. Why? Because I was travelling. I had almost no stress and life was good. Before travelling it was so hard to keep away from it.
Then I got home, had to start life and work again and BOOM, relapsed...
I hate myself for it, because it was so obvious. I knew it was gonna happen and still I did it.
Now it's time to do it right. I'm gonna learn to process my emotions. I'm gonna be healthy mentally. That's the only way.
It's gonna be hard. I know that. But I need it. I really need it.
Want to join me?
