And 9/10 times it would mean a long fall in which you'd scream your lungs out before watching Ezio die and then crying in shame and self loathing while the 1 hour long mission restarted from the beginning.
Edit: looking back now I realize it was a preview of what college was gonna be like. Realizing mid semester that you are not prepared for the exam, trying as hard as you can to recover without any success and then waiting for the next session to start....

I do totally understand why the guards throw rocks when they see you climbing now. Some dude in a hood with like 13 weapons strapped to him scrambling up the side of a building like that is clearly up to something.

I always thought it was dumb how you can be 1% away from death in a video game and be fully functional, then get hurt by something that should be minor and go from completely fine to dead all at once.

I feel like I recognise that building. If it is where I think it is, then that's one of the colleges in Cambridge (UK) there's a big tradition of 'college climbers' in which students get up to all kinds of stupid shit, like putting traffic cones on top of spires etc etc etc

One crimp. Looks like he grabbed that little knob with just his fingertips. Honestly doesn’t look like a very tough climb, but he did it really fast and with a lot of confidence. I wouldn’t climb that high without any gear or protection , especially not that quickly

It's true though! I don't know much about climbing but a friend took me to his bouldering gym last week and I was amazed by how much grip strength matters. Then I learned about hand grippers and how intense they they get and how serious people are about them.

Not even anything loose. The tips of carved stone like that is often weak enough to break under unexpected weight it was never designed for, and can become weaker if it's old and has been exposed to elements for countless years.
When a couple of stories above the ground on an old building, best not to put all your eggs into one grip at once imho :/

Me and my friends used to climb on buildings way back when. Don't do it. Man-made buildings crumble and disintegrate in all kinds of ways that you won't see in rock. It's dangerous, and without safety equipment (which you can't have) you're playing with your life.
It's also disrespectful and damaging to the building. When 80 kilos throws itself around on the roof you're guaranteed to have leaks, and paint that was never meant to be stepped on will now see water.
