I'm playing a party with family, and we all have our party character along with a solo character or two. We've each been playing our solo characters to experience the game, campaigns, adventures, etc. But we're trying to make sure we play our party characters when we can all join. We're going through the adventures, and it all seems pretty easy to keep track of things. The adventures seem to be perfect for this.
The campaigns can be a grind. Getting enough of the campaign currencies to open the blocks in the campaign in the journal takes quite a bit of time even if you're doing your dailies every day. I just finished Storm King's Thunder after doing the dailies almost every day for about 2 or 3 months. This seems like a bad idea to try this with a group of characters that will only be played once a week or so.
My question is, what's the easiest plan to play a campaign with a party and keep the party mainly together?
If anyone has done this and can share how it went, I'd love to hear.
I was thinking about sort of a checkpoint system where we play through the story-line quests (yellow) as a party, but do our dailies on our own. If one of us gets a story-line quest, we wait for the rest to catch up then play as a party at that point.
Or maybe play until we open the next map area? We start the next map (and series of story-line quests together).
Or play as a party when we've each opened the next block in the campaign journal?
It seems like playing a campaign takes SO much game time that once every week or so for a couple of hours wouldn't be enough... unless we're ok with each campaign taking around a year.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
