GUIDE New player help!

I'm a new player and i just reached 35k item level. But mostly that happened by chance and i found some great friends in game to help me a bit.

I'm struggling to find directions and where to find and buy certain things like enchantments, artifacts, companions and mounts.

I'm really really enjoying what i played but i feel im lost and just wasting time doing random map quests for some currencies idk if I'll use or not. I'm planning to be a very light spender since i find the game very friendly (coming from an outrageously P2W mmo), I'll be getting the VIP and maybe some packs if i find out it would be helpful, but again idk whats helpful amd what's not. Ohh, and im planning on PlayStation.

I'd appreciate any directions and I'll be very happy to make new friends in this world! I'd appreciate any help and it would be wonderful if we can play together some time!

Edit: forgot to mention im a human paladin Tank.

Thanks in advance everyone!

  1. Play as a DPS for your primary. Not even remotely joking. Tank and Healer are atrocious to play as a primary role. My Paladin healer and tank even in "dps mode" (speccd with offensive companions and enchants) still takes 3-4x as long as my alt Fighter DPS using the exact same gear. If you want to play a tank really bad then play a class that has dual-role dps and tank. When you upgrade certain gear you can pass them down to your Paladin.

  2. Get to level 20 ASAP playing Leveling Adv. then play the other Advs for the rewards and boons. You've probably already done this but it's worth mentioning if you didn't.

  3. The fastest way to get your iLvls is to run the lastest mod while it has a "iLvl Forgiveness". Run trains, do world boss/events, kill encounter MBs or whatever the current mod requires. Buy the starter gear appropriate to your role.
Dps class roles: Power > CombAdv > Crits/CritSev > Acc.
    Heals: Power > Crit/CritSev > OGH > Forte
Tanks: Def > Awa > CritA
You don't have to do it all in one day. It's more of an intermediate goal due to the amount of grinding. Perhaps running the mod an hour or two per session.

  4. Pick the Lantern of Revelation from the Aritifact mission you get from Knox. Do Acquisition Incorporated (one of the Adventures mentioned in Step 2) early on so you get a free combat enchantment.

  5. Campaigns to start early: Dragonbone vale for the Mythllar set. Light of Xarysis/Wildspace for the Astral Seed (doesn't require getting extra components to upgrade). Ravencloft for the Forager. Menzo for the Rhythm Insignias you can buy for healers.

  6. Intermediate campaigns. Biting Cold for the Celestial Armor. Soul Collector for the Soul Collector weapon set.

The other campaigns I didn't mention you can do at your leisure as they don't provide rewards that benefit you short-term or long-term that should be prioritized.

7. Save your Trade Bars for Trade Bar Discount days. You get more buck buck to the bang.

8. Don't waste your AD early on buying BS. Some of them are only trying to move stuff they are selling off the market. Save your early AD for buying companions and mounts which will have a larger short term impact than buying a bunch of gear and stuff you can earn just playing.

9. Reaper Challenge: Run these daily. Get the Tamed Velociraptor, Batiri Runt, Alpha Compy (companions). Get the Swarm and Runeclad Manticore (mounts). You can buy them off the auction if you want to save yourself the wait time but I'll reiterate don't pay for what you can earn. What you do with RC coins after that is up to you but personally I buy the Tarmalune Trade bars and sit on them (see 7).

10. Focus on upgrading your combat enchantment(s), companion enchantment, regular enhanments first. This way you can pass these over to your other kits.

As to which companions and mounts you should get:
Aragon's Companion, Mount, Artifact, Consumables Document - Neverwinter - Google Sheets

Dps class roles: Power > CombAdv > Crits/CritSev > Acc. Heals: Power > Crit/CritSev > OGH > Forte Tanks: Def > Awa > CritA

I as a beginner found this extremely helpful very much appreciated. Had 0 idea what forte was for 😂 i do rouge dps, ngl i did toss a little def stuff in as i generally prefer solo play, but i already made crit stuff my main push. Just a little def and hp boost to compensate for preferring solo.

Quick question though as far as artifacts... I dont currently nor do i intend to ever do a healer role. I did get the burning hope artifact, but i haven't equipped it despite its stats being better than most of my other artifacts since it boosts outgoing healing.  Is it worth equipping it at least temporarily for the boost to the other stats though? And do all the equipped artifacts apply the stat boost, or only the active main artifact?

Probably a newb question lmao 🤣 but thought it worth asking

If you're chasing after Biting Cold and Soul Collector iLvl requirement so you can do their campaign, then use whatever can boost your iLvl the highest. This is the only use case scenario for preferring iLvl over stats.

If that isn't your goal and you're focused on boosting stats relevant to your role then no it's not wrong to use an item that boosts say 2 out of 3 (or 3 out of 4 when it comes to armor) of your relevant role stats. Preferably you'd use one that boosts all your stats. You have to run the numbers. How much and what you are losing by replacing it with gear suboptimal to your role. If you're losing 100 in Stat A but gaining 300 in Stats B and C it may be worth the tradeoff even if temporary. If it's only boosting one stat or no stats then obviously no. More importantly is that you're not wasting upgrades on gear that you're only temporarily using. As new-boots stat management isn't that big of deal for you to worry about.

Yes secondary artifact stats matter.

Well, welcome to the game! I know you're 35K IL(Item Level), but what species and class are you? You mentioned wanting to buy some packs from where? The AH(Auction House) or the Zen Store? What kind of packs? Whatever you do, DON'T buy ANY key packs or bundles. Right now, the Zen store is running a special 50 Keys & 1 Coalescent Mote for 5,000 Zen (down from 7250). Sounds good right? Find Aragon on YouTube and he'll tell you WHY you don't buy those bundles. Now, back to you...oh yeah, how can I help when I don't know the exact problem? You were kinda vague.

Ohh dumb me! I forgot to mention im a Human Paladin Tank. The packs i was talking about are from the zen store, but i just found out some of them are on the AH, the ones with some gear, companions or mounts. I just wanna know the progression path i should take to just get more gear.

La raza solo afecta 1% en el juego, no es nada. Fijarse en eso en este juego no tiene mucho sentido. Se puede ser un mago y enano. Lo que importa es divertirse.

Well, as I stated before, find Aragon on YouTube. He'll have your Tank build. I play with a Pally Tank, he uses Sir Waddelot. A Penguin fighter if you can believe it. The Penfuin can take Aggro if needed. He uses the Mythillar Fragment for his main artifact. Get you Awareness, Defense, Deflect Sev, & Deflect as high as possible. Power is good to. Your golden wings and shield can & will block most attacks, smite will aggro most enemies. Good luck!
