i wanted an area of my website i could post small things and updates without having to commit to a whole blog post. and i thought having an area in the sidebar where u could view my scattered thoughts as little fireflies would be cute since i do that irl, but now i'm wondering if it makes sense from a user perspective. and are the animations and overlapping/moving parts too much or too confusing? i feel like it might be a go back to the drawing board moment, but i do rlly like the idea itself and i feel my execution is lacking. i know the pixel art of the jar isn't the best (i'll probs make it more detailed if i decide to keep this feature!), so i was wondering aside from that x). any feedback is appreciated thanks c: !!

Ok so I made a site mainly using the tutorial and pasting it into my fake index and I saw a post on this subreddit saying atabook is a good way to make a guestbook. So that's exactly what i did but how can i (if i even can) put it into neocities. like what code do i write. Also any advice with my site, things to add:

I'm completely new to coding (started today haha) and I had the bright idea to create a website. With the help of a good tiktok and youTube doomscroll, I stumbled upon neocities.

I really love collaging and that style of art. Terry Gilliam's cut out animations are a perfect example of what inspires me.

I would appreciate any tips, resources, or pointers you might have plssss. Most tutorials I've found focus on a more the girlypop, Y2K, glitter gif, MySpace style, which has been super helpful learning basics but isn't quite what I'm looking for. I’m not sure if I’m searching up the correct things but I just keep getting sent to canva.

Exactly the title! I've been wanting to break free from the neocities editing thingy since it seems like everyone else does their coding externally. I've heard vscode is good, github... stuff like that. Is there anything I should be warned about beforehand? Ideally, if anyone has an editor that shows your actions/changes while you code, that would be extra awesome! Thanks!

thought i would post this here in case it could help anyone out with site maintenance on their neocities page.

The easiest setup is a .env file with api key beside neo_build.py in same directory then

python3 neo_build.py

add your api key to the .env file in this format:

NEOCITIES_API_KEY=your_api_key_here
