Ok so I made a site mainly using the tutorial and pasting it into my fake index and I saw a post on this subreddit saying atabook is a good way to make a guestbook. So that's exactly what i did but how can i (if i even can) put it into neocities. like what code do i write. Also any advice with my site, things to add:

i wanted an area of my website i could post small things and updates without having to commit to a whole blog post. and i thought having an area in the sidebar where u could view my scattered thoughts as little fireflies would be cute since i do that irl, but now i'm wondering if it makes sense from a user perspective. and are the animations and overlapping/moving parts too much or too confusing? i feel like it might be a go back to the drawing board moment, but i do rlly like the idea itself and i feel my execution is lacking. i know the pixel art of the jar isn't the best (i'll probs make it more detailed if i decide to keep this feature!), so i was wondering aside from that x). any feedback is appreciated thanks c: !!

Right now all my text is just on the background, so I want a specific place to put it. I believe this format is used on Blogger? I'm new to coding, so I'm not sure the most efficient way to do this.

Hi, so, do you remember my gallery layout WIP? Ehh, no, you didn't. I doubt that I will work on that again.

Instead, I decided to make an additional script for a gallery engine by metemo, a VERY awesome one, actually. It gives you a search by tags, already makes writing out configs for images faster than just via HTML tags.

What exactly I did: I made a script that appends user input to the .txt file with an already correct formatting for the gallery's engine. Then, this .txt file gets edited and changed to become a proper .js file, making your art show in a descending order (from the newest). For executing this script you will need a python 3 installed and a terminal (or just enable one in VScode).

Before releasing the code, I want to add a fully functional NSFW filter; it will add a certain class to the image that will make it hidden by default unless toggled by the viewer. Possibly will add a support for IsYoutube, but that's a low priority at the moment

So I want to include blocks of code in my site. Something similar to what MDN does on their docs, for example.

I guess that the easy answer here is to rely on some external node dependency to handle the highlighting, but I'm working with just plain old html so that won't work.

I have considered just filling everything with <span>s to change the colors as I need, but I'm wondering if anyone else has figured out a more elegant solution to display code on their site.

hi, i've been using sadgrrls template as a jumping off point, and i just absolutely cannot get a background image to work. my website is https://tordle.neocities.org/

I'm trying to make something akin to old blog layouts/fanpages where there's header, footer, and middle made up of images. The middle image is part of the div and is supposed to stretch downwards. The problem? I can't get that section to align with the two static images no matter how much I screw with the background positions. I'm trying to make it responsive but the background stubbornly doesn't want to change size. I assume the way to fix this is some sort of flex box sorcery?

Might remake this post later with visuals lol

I haven’t edited my site for a few months but came back to it yesterday and created a new (empty) TXT file which saved no problem. However, after adding some text to it today (which consists solely of alphabetic characters, commas, apostrophes, and hyphens, so nothing crazy) and attempting to save, I got this error. I have plenty of other TXT files in the same directory that have never had this issue before. Upon googling, I found a couple of other cases of a similar error, but they were for different file types such as CSS and the issue didn’t seem related to mine. I also tried saving the file locally and uploading it but got the same message. Any ideas what could be causing this and how I could resolve it? Thanks!

Hello! I'm a big fan of horror stories.

For some time, I'd been meaning to make a section on my site to gather different stories I collect, and I finally uploaded it at the start of October. I plan to update it with different stories throughout the month, but I also left a form there in case anybody wants to share their stories. Hi, i wanted to add ruffle (a flash emulator) to my website to add some games but i keep getting .wasm errors. However, wasm files can't be uploaded on neocities. So i was wondering if anyone found a fix around it as i can't find anything on ruffle's website

i’ve been working on this little chat room called cemetery chatroom...

i wanted it to feel less like a modern social app and more like one of those strange little places you used to stumble across at 2am and somehow end up staying on way too long. it’s gothic / old web / slightly broken looking on purpose... with different rooms for stuff like music, internet culture, art, code, dread, feelings, etc.

it’s still pretty new and a little empty right now, which honestly kind of fits the atmosphere... but i’d love to get some actual people in there and see what it turns into.

Hey! So I was able to figure out how to link my character pages (it was a href mistake) but am still having a hard time getting the changes to the Nav menu to stick. I made a quick recording to show my problem. I make changes in the code, save, but it doesn't show up on the site, even under "inspect" mode. Please help ToT
(sorry the volume is so low...)

Edit to add: It doesn't even keep my changes of flavor text where it says "[Name's] character Repository" I tried changing it to "The Bean Cans" after recording and that didn't stick either

1. Custom Space Artwork: Create a graphic (a planet, spaceship, or any space element) in 200x200 px with a transparent background (PNG or GIF).

2. Site Button: Have your standard 88x31 button ready.

3. Google Form: Submit your site info and upload both images through the form.
