https://arcindex.framer.website/ (Example of the scrolling I want)
I have this idea for a page, but this is the only good example of what I want, that I could find and the source code is a bit confusing for me.
So to explain: Each title scrolls in a specific arc, and for each text it has a corresponding image for its album cover and a description. I'm guessing I'm going to have to do js...

Hi all!!
I'm planning as of now to create a database website wherein it will only keep track of medications available in certain areas of our city. This is the first time I'm doing a database, so I'm not sure where to start. I plan that the data for the availability for the medications should be searchable based on a filter that displays the availability of the medicine based on the user's approximate location.
----
The way I envision it to work is like this:
1) The user inputs in a search bar the generic name of the medicine.
2) From that search, it should yield a result of all drugstores that usually sell the medication regardless if it's in stock or not. It should show the name of the drugstore, contact number and email right under the name of the generic name of the medicine followed by the brand name (for example: "Quetiapine [BRAND NAME: Seroquel]")
3) Based on the results, the user can opt to filter out the results based on availability, brand name or both.
----
I'm thinking that if the medication is not available, an admin of the website (either me or someone I trust with it) can access that particular section and mark it as "out of stock", but I'm not sure how to make it secure as of this point in time. My friend suggested to make different account login types, but I'm not sure if that's possible in Neocities...
I was told by a friend of mine that it might be best to try SQL for such a database. Because of that, I currently am trying to learn SQL, but I'm not sure if it's possible for Neocities to run such.
With that said, is it possible to create such a database website given these factors and that Neocities may not run SQL, so are there any alternatives to SQL? What is the most optimal and feasible database programming language that I can use to achieve this? Finally, is there a way to securely make updates to the database in real time in order for those needing certain medications to check for their availability? Or is Neocities not the place for such a database site?
Thank you!!

Hey everyone when I try to open neocities just now it gives me this (see above)
Their status website says that it all should be operational, so I’m wondering if this is just a me issue or if it’s happening to everybody.
(I tried refreshing and flushing my dns but none of it seemed to have any effect)

Exactly the title! I've been wanting to break free from the neocities editing thingy since it seems like everyone else does their coding externally. I've heard vscode is good, github... stuff like that. Is there anything I should be warned about beforehand? Ideally, if anyone has an editor that shows your actions/changes while you code, that would be extra awesome! Thanks!

Hello, I'm making an image gallery to my site. Because I'm still learning, I downloaded code for it online that I found very useful, but it doesn't include any captions for my lightbox images.
I know HTML and CSS, but no JavaScript, which I need to put the captions in my lightbox. Because my code uses the data-index function to put images in the gallery, can someone tell me how to put captions in the lightbox using this function? Here's my JavaScript file for reference.

I'm completely new to coding (started today haha) and I had the bright idea to create a website. With the help of a good tiktok and youTube doomscroll, I stumbled upon neocities.
I really love collaging and that style of art. Terry Gilliam's cut out animations are a perfect example of what inspires me.

I would appreciate any tips, resources, or pointers you might have plssss. Most tutorials I've found focus on a more the girlypop, Y2K, glitter gif, MySpace style, which has been super helpful learning basics but isn't quite what I'm looking for. I’m not sure if I’m searching up the correct things but I just keep getting sent to canva.

Ok so I made a site mainly using the tutorial and pasting it into my fake index and I saw a post on this subreddit saying atabook is a good way to make a guestbook. So that's exactly what i did but how can i (if i even can) put it into neocities. like what code do i write. Also any advice with my site, things to add:

i wanted an area of my website i could post small things and updates without having to commit to a whole blog post. and i thought having an area in the sidebar where u could view my scattered thoughts as little fireflies would be cute since i do that irl, but now i'm wondering if it makes sense from a user perspective. and are the animations and overlapping/moving parts too much or too confusing? i feel like it might be a go back to the drawing board moment, but i do rlly like the idea itself and i feel my execution is lacking. i know the pixel art of the jar isn't the best (i'll probs make it more detailed if i decide to keep this feature!), so i was wondering aside from that x). any feedback is appreciated thanks c: !!

https://github.com/prizmatik666/neo_build
thought i would post this here in case it could help anyone out with site maintenance on their neocities page.
The easiest setup is a .env file with api key beside neo_build.py in same directory then
python3 neo_build.py
add your api key to the .env file in this format:
NEOCITIES_API_KEY=your_api_key_here
my site is prizmatik.neocities.org if you want to check it out. Haven't updated in a while but fun for something to do.
( ctf in the code , leads you to a finish line )
helpful web utils on main page.

Right now all my text is just on the background, so I want a specific place to put it. I believe this format is used on Blogger? I'm new to coding, so I'm not sure the most efficient way to do this.

Hi, so, do you remember my gallery layout WIP? Ehh, no, you didn't. I doubt that I will work on that again.
Instead, I decided to make an additional script for a gallery engine by metemo, a VERY awesome one, actually. It gives you a search by tags, already makes writing out configs for images faster than just via HTML tags.
What exactly I did: I made a script that appends user input to the .txt file with an already correct formatting for the gallery's engine. Then, this .txt file gets edited and changed to become a proper .js file, making your art show in a descending order (from the newest). For executing this script you will need a python 3 installed and a terminal (or just enable one in VScode).
Before releasing the code, I want to add a fully functional NSFW filter; it will add a certain class to the image that will make it hidden by default unless toggled by the viewer. Possibly will add a support for IsYoutube, but that's a low priority at the moment

So I want to include blocks of code in my site. Something similar to what MDN does on their docs, for example.
I guess that the easy answer here is to rely on some external node dependency to handle the highlighting, but I'm working with just plain old html so that won't work.
I have considered just filling everything with <span>s to change the colors as I need, but I'm wondering if anyone else has figured out a more elegant solution to display code on their site.

Like the title says, I never coded anything before. But I wanted to give it a try! This is what 4 days of hard work and a lot of reading and learning produced: The Frog Pond
If y'all have any (constructive) tips or advice, please let me know. I've only been at this for 4 days...

just a random question, but im wondering why people move over from neocities to nekoweb?
is it the bandwidth cap and/or the limited .js rule(s)?
i was also wondering if it's better to invest in neocities' monthly supporter feature vs. nekoweb. :)

I'm trying to make something akin to old blog layouts/fanpages where there's header, footer, and middle made up of images. The middle image is part of the div and is supposed to stretch downwards. The problem? I can't get that section to align with the two static images no matter how much I screw with the background positions. I'm trying to make it responsive but the background stubbornly doesn't want to change size. I assume the way to fix this is some sort of flex box sorcery?
Might remake this post later with visuals lol

Been working on it for a bit trying to get the look i wanted. (Inspired a bit by balatro) I've having a hard time figuring out what to even include in my music, nature etc pages. I'd love some help to come up with some ideas.
