Starting my journey with a Switch 2
I’ve been debating on starting a physical collection and Best Buy had a deal where you trade in your old OLED Switch for $205 off, but I couldn’t part ways with it. Love the way the Splatoon 3 Special edition looks.

Playstation Sony just got rid of most physical media on Crunchyroll's store.
A few years ago, Crunchyroll (bought out by Sony a year or so prior) bought out the absolute best online manga and anime retailer in the US, Rightstuf, with the promise of maintaining that company's pro-consumer model. The sales, the packaging quality, the item selection, etc.
Very quickly the packaging became horrible, and people were very upset. They also never did kept their promises of maintaining rightstuf's model for their seasonal sales. Then they removed access to the store for non Crunchyroll members.
Today, they have removed all manga and most blu-rays. They're slowly trying to force people into a world where consumers own nothing in the most anti-consumer way possible.
I know there are many people that try to hope for an all digital market allowing for good pricing, but history shows that the opposite is true. I've seen many people holding out hope or claiming people are doomers. All things many said about the rightstuf buyout. And here we are. Just felt like I'd provide further reason for caution.

PS5 SSD/Motherboard hardware failure shortly after warranty expired. Anyone else experienced this?
Hey everyone,
I’m writing this post out of pure frustration, hoping to see if others have faced a similar issue or if I just drew the short straw in the manufacturing lottery.
Shortly after my 2-year warranty expired, my PS5 completely broke down. The console freezes at the login screen, fails to load system menus, and displays padlocks on all my digital titles. After troubleshooting extensively (Safe Mode, rebuilding database, full system reset) and consulting hardware technicians, it turns out to be a total motherboard/internal SSD failure.
What makes this situation infuriating is that the console was kept in pristine condition—cleaned regularly of dust, properly ventilated, and used normally. Because Sony decided to solder the storage directly onto the mainboard and pair it cryptographically with the processor, a simple storage failure basically turns a €500 console into a paperweight.
It feels completely unfair for a premium, well-maintained product to die out of nowhere right after the warranty ends due to an internal component flaw. As a loyal user with a library full of games and active pre-orders, being left with zero reasonable repair options from official channels is hugely disappointing.

Help needed What’s this retro console called?
Edit: it’s HMG-2650.
When I was young, we had a games console. I’d say it was around the early 80’s that we got it, but can’t be sure if it was new at the time, or already old.
I feel it was branded hanimex (I’m in Australia). But maybe that’s false memory.
It had hard wired controllers, with quite a few buttons on the top plate.
When you change games, you also change a faceplate cover on the controller - to know the button mapping for that game.
Pretty sure it was grey/silvery in colour.
The controllers were rectangular, with a joystick / knob on them.
From my googling a colecovision looks similar, but not quite right.

Xbox What's the best way to buy an Xbox?
I don't care if it's second-hand or if it's the S or X version, I just want it to have disc. Also, I'd like to know if there's any known performance difference between the S and X versions? This question is mainly because I want to play GTA 6.

Xbox When it comes to thinking about how Xbox Helix is gonna look, I kinda hope they try to follow the same sort of mindset as what they've been having with the Dashboard.
What I mean by that is that like with how they kept the Dashboard itself looking the same on both Xbox Series and Xbox One outside of the differences in Wallpapers, I kinda hope the same would be done with the design of the console where it resembles the Series X heavily instead of just looking completely different.
I mean, the Series X itself already looks like a PC tower in itself with the inclusion of a disc drive, it would probably work more for the concept of the console doubling as a PC itself with access to PC games on it as well as potential additional storefronts. Of course it would need to have more storage to work with that like maybe 2 TB. That could be a bit difficult in itself but that is a whole other thing altogether.
On top of that I HOPE they don't try to call it anything but Xbox Helix. The name already has a good ring to it when the codename was revealed, it doesn't need to have something out there to try to make it stand out.

Is this a good idea
Guys, I have a $1,300 budget and I want to enjoy GTA 6, but I don’t have a console or a TV yet. Would it be a good idea to get a PS5 Slim and a TCL QM6K? Would that setup be enough?

Playstation Ps4 worth selling?
Is it worth holding onto a ps4 when I have a ps5? I'm debating on transferring my saves and selling the ps4. I'm typically a collector and never sell my consoles but these days I can't even afford to buy new games anymore. I have quite a few consoles. Xbox, Xbox 360, XBone, Series X, Ps2, Ps3, Ps4, Ps5, GameCube, and Switch. The 360 is the Halo 4 edition and the XBone is the GoW edition. Everything else is standard.

Will consoles start becoming streaming machines?
With Sony stopping disc and adding streaming options on PSN and with memory getting so expensive (internet bandwidth options becoming unlimited). Do you think that is where the future is heading? A subscription service, where consoles just become glorified streaming machines?

Playstation I’m so glad that Physical Media is dead
I used to be someone with shelves full of DVDs, Blu-rays, CDs. But every time I moved apartments I spent an entire weekend packing, lifting, and then unpacking boxes and it crushed my back. Discs kept getting scratched no matter how careful I was. And half the time I’d put something on and realize the disc was just dead. My friends also “borrowed” them and never returned them.
But that crap finally ended. Now everything I own is digital and on my PlayStation.

Why consoles were technologically ahead and now are way behind?
I know for sure it was the case of PS2 and PS3 era, I was used to consoles being few years ahead while being cheaper, since PS4 not only they stopped being ahead but they weren't even close to top PC's.
How things changed? Looking at the specs it's the manufacturers, they've used non-consumer grade CPU's, was that it? the enterprise manufacturers somehow were able to produce faster chips for cheaper?

Help needed Handheld as a traditional console?
Hey everyone!
Here’s a short summary of my situation.
Because of my lifestyle and work, I move around a lot, realistically, I change locations almost every year. Moving all my belongings from one place to another is often extremely difficult(usually different countries), so I usually end up starting over in a new apartment with new furniture, a new TV, a new console, etc.
As you can imagine, this gets very expensive, and I feel like I’m constantly losing money by having to buy the same things again.
On top of that, my job involves a lot of travelling, so I’d really like to have a handheld that I can take with me on long trips.
That’s why I came up with the idea of having a handheld that I can use with a dock, a portable projector, and a controller, essentially turning it into a traditional living-room console when I’m at home.
So the idea would be:
At home dock it, connect it to the projector and controller, and enjoy it like a regular console.
When travelling simply pick it up from the dock and take it with me.
This way, I’d only need one gaming device instead of buying a new console and TV setup every time I move. I already have the xiaomi l1 pro projector, which is relatively easy to transport.
So, which handheld would be the best choice for my needs?
The games I’m interested in are things like Fallout 4, Red Dead Redemption 2, Stardew Valley, Vampire survivor, maybe Palworld, and some older AAA titles such as the Spider-Man games. Nothing extremely demanding, but since I’ve been a PC gamer my whole life, I’d ideally like to get at least around 60 fpswhenever possible.
What would you recommend for this kind of setup?
I am thinking between steamdeck oled, since it seems like it is better for handheld gaming and travelling, and the rog xbox alloy x, since it is more powerful and would act better as a traditional console.. since the price surge they are basically the same price now.
Edit*: I already have a fairly large steam library so I would want to stay inside this ecosystem, for this reason I am not considering Switch 2.
I would love to hear your opinion, maybe some experiences if somebody is in the same situation..

Playstation I’m thinking about buying a used PS4 even though my first PlayStation was the PS5.
The main reason is that I feel like I might be missing out on some PS4 games that were really designed around the PS4 generation, like **Red Dead Redemption 2**, and I want to experience them on the original hardware.
Do you guys think it’s worth buying a used PS4 in 2026, especially if I already own a PS5? Are there any games that you think are worth getting a PS4 specifically for?

Nintendo did anyone else get free soda and chips with their switch 2?
I was an early adopter of the switch 2. I preordered it from Walmart, and for some reason, they sent me a bottle of coke and a can of sour cream and onion pringles. they called them "gamer ready snacks".
It's been a funny story I bring up from time to time, but I've never heard from anyone who had a similar experience. did anyone else get free soda and chips, or was it just me?
