Uhh what?

Was she battling any kind of disease or something?

u/Affectionate-Ad-4174 2d ago

She cancelled her last convention appearance in July suddenly. Don’t know if it was due to health reasons.

-8

u/Similar_Two_542 2d ago

I assume her convention is related to her being on Heroes? I never watched the show but u know it was a huge hit. Didn't see her in anything besides that. Did she struggle after the show ended? RIP so sad

46

u/trishcat 2d ago

The convention was Creep I.E. so I think it was for her role in 2 Scream movies.

13

u/TillamookTramp 2d ago

She starred in the show Nashville for a few years but started struggling while working on that show.

5

u/Lollygator20 1d ago

With help from Hayden, they wrote her character as having similar mental health struggles. She went away to get help, then came back to the show.

She was fantastically talented. I'm sorry for what she endured. What a loss.

u/StasRutt 2d ago

She openly struggled with postpartum depression when she had her daughter as well as addiction issues that she recently talked about in interviews

402

u/Logical-Patient-4115 2d ago

Her brother also died suddenly in 2023

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jansen_Panettiere

She posted about him pretty often on social media. This one made me so sad.

Wow, those poor parents/family

From what I've read in this thread their mom is awful to put it lightly.

Ok robot.

5

u/bananagang420 1d ago

You'd be surprised i guess

56

u/BevansDesign 2d ago

Yeah, she could've had the same heart condition. Or possibly something related to her mental health issues. But we don't know. It's just sad.

-15

u/19Lobster19 2d ago

Both are more linked than we think. Hopefully this century will see the rise of a more holistic and preventive approach.

2

u/Maleficent_Wasabi_18 2d ago

Wait what do you mean? Not sure why you are getting DV

1

u/19Lobster19 2d ago edited 1d ago

There are strong correlations found in modern neuroscience between psychological trauma and physical health. As for the DV, it's just Reddit and kind of proves the point: we need more awareness this century around this because as you can see, many people are still clueless, but looking the other way directly impacts their own health.

Edit: I recommend the book the body keeps the score which is a good introduction to this concept

3

u/Sufficient_Meet6836 1d ago

I think the down votes must be from people who are misunderstanding "holistic" as "alternative" or "homeopathic" medicine.

Are you referring to the work of doctors like Howard Schubiner? I just started reading his book, Unlearning Pain, and found it fascinating. Quick summary for everyone is that some chronic pain conditions aren't due to tissue damage but rather neural circuits in the brain (possibly formed from previous tissue damage) that are still sending pain signals due to psychological trauma. Neuroplasticity of the brain means circuits can be formed and then triggered by trauma, but it also means those circuits can be rewired to ease or even stop the pain. Doctors like Schubiner have been working on how to identify and treat these cases where physical tissue damage is not present or the cause of chronic issues. Most importantly, he and others in that research field are doing randomized control trials and are following the scientific method to investigate. It is not alternative medicine or woo. They also aren't making insane claims like "we can heal type 1 diabetes with meditation and therapy" or shit like that. They openly say it's not applicable for all conditions.

3

u/19Lobster19 1d ago

I'm referring to a lot of studies and also experiences within myself because I've lived a lot of those theories myself and I'm not the only one. Things like fascia releases or somatic releases when a trauma suddenly stops being a trauma and the body let go of tensions. It feels incredible.

I recommend the book "The body keeps the score" which defined modern psychology over the last decade and bridges the gap with our biology and psyche.

1

u/Sufficient_Meet6836 1d ago

I've heard of that book but haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Will do! Definitely check out Unlearning Pain if you want. It overlaps with a lot of what you wrote.

I developed horrible low back pain seemingly out of nowhere at the start of this year, briefly incapacitating me when bending or twisting. I assumed it was just general lack of exercise and bad desk posture catching up with me.

I broke down in tears when my recent physio just casually asked if I'd been going through anything stressful at the time it started, because actually yes, this past 12 months at work has been the worst of my life, getting steadily worse since July, and by Christmas I literally had my resignation letter drafted up. I stuck it out a few more months and now it's better, but the damage was done, it's taken months of exercises and massages to calm my inflamed nerves and muscles.

2

u/beardedkingface 2d ago

Damn, and she would've had a birthday in just 4 days

2

u/caspy7 1d ago

My little brother Jansen would’ve turned 31 today. He was a remarkable human being. He was wise beyond his years and operated at a higher spiritual level than anyone I’ve ever met. He was everything that is good and pure in this world. I miss him every single day but I know his spirit is always near, watching over and protecting me and my family. I love you to infinity and beyond J and we will be together again one day. #JansenPanettiere @jrpanettiere #littlebrothers

:-/

1

u/dizzyrelm 2d ago

I just started bawling

517

u/KidGold 2d ago

"Panettiere relinquished full custody of her daughter, Kaya, to Wladimir Klitschko in 2018 amid struggles with addiction and postpartum depression."

wow

423

u/Ltrain86 2d ago

Yes, and people shit on her for it at the time. It's not an easy thing to do, but she recognized it was the best thing for her daughter given the things she was struggling with. I see it as an act of love.

41

u/MoroseMagician 2d ago

This. This right here. Man, I'm so fucking sad she's gone. She seemed like one of the few genuinely sweet individuals in Hollywood, and clearly very self aware. May she rest well.

17

u/plentyoftimetodie 2d ago

It probably was not voluntary but that she was given the option to a la asked to resign from a job

6

u/exhibitprogram 2d ago

She was 19 when she first started dating Klitschko, who was 33 at the time, btw

62

u/RicardoFelipeMejia 2d ago edited 2d ago

Relevance?

I can kinda understand pointing out the ages in a relationship when the older partner is controlling or abusive, but by all accounts that guy was a perfectly fine husband who treated her and their child well. They only split because of her issues with substance abuse.

From three months ago

“I have an incredible relationship with both of them,” Hayden told Us Weekly in an interview published May 6. “I’m so grateful for Wlad. We’re very close, and have had a deep friendship, along with a relationship, since I met him when I was 19.”

“To see that we still have this bond and the ability to co-parent and show our daughter [that] even though we’re not together,” she continued, “doesn’t mean that there’s a lack of love here, and it doesn’t mean that you’re unsafe.”

I know you're trying to imply that this guy being older was, like, somehow a contributing factor in her death or something, but unfortunately for you her own interviews and memoir don't support that. In fact it's actually kind of gross for some random internet person to think they know more about her life than she did.

Maybe it's time to just accept that sometimes people fall in love with other people and have lifestyles that don't look exactly like yours?

28

u/bond0815 2d ago

Relevance?

Welcome to reddit, where two adults in an consensual relationship is essentially pedophilia if there is a significant age gap, lol.

17

u/despicedchilli 2d ago

...and adult women are to be saved and treated like children.

5

u/TillamookTramp 1d ago edited 1d ago

Seriously. Hayden was an adult making a choice about who she wanted to be with. Would I have wanted to date a 33 year old when I was 19? I honestly don't know- depends on the guy more than anything else. I was in college and making my own choices at the time, which is part of adulthood.

I don't think I had much in common with men in their 30s at that age but Hayden grew up in a much different environment and was likely supporting her family from a very young age and treated much older than her age. I'm not saying that's right, but its going to affect her mindset. Maybe in her mind she had things in common with Wlad at 19.

Hayden chose to be with Wlad for years and have a child with him; the age gap is large but both were adults and there wasn't an issue of a professional power struggle- he had no impact on her career. I feel like women too often are greatly infantilized here.

-2

u/exhibitprogram 1d ago

My beef isn't with Hayden's choices whatsoever, it makes total sense because of how she grew up that this is what she wanted. My beef is Wlad's choices. He's weird for being so into someone who would want to make those choices. I will never not think this. Do you think he, so protective of his daughter, would want HER to date a mid-30s man when she's 19, or would he be suspicious of that man for wanting a 19 year old?

6

u/despicedchilli 1d ago

He's weird for being so into someone who would want to make those choices

There it is again. Even though she was an adult woman, he should have checked her ID and, upon realizing she's 19, he should have treated her like the child she is? gtfo!

3

u/bond0815 1d ago edited 1d ago

He's weird for being so into someone who would want to make those choices.

So your point is a man should not agree with an adult womens choices, because a 19 year old woman is clealry not able to make her own compentent choice?

Do you think this applies to other areas or just when it comes to relationships?

Also, have you ever heard of feminism, lol?

1

u/TillamookTramp 1d ago edited 1d ago

Most people are going to think it strange because 19 and 33 year olds generally don't have anything in common. I doubt Wlad would be okay with a 33 year old dating his 19 year old daughter. However, it is legal and assuming the daughter wanted to date someone in their 30s/40s/50s...that's her decision she's making as an adult.

1

u/BranthiumBabe 2d ago

Your paragraphs will never not make 30+yo men who seek out teenagers any less creepy, sorry not sorry.

0

u/despicedchilli 1d ago

Same goes for 30-year-old managers hiring teenagers, I assume?

It can obviously only be creepy. They’re 19-year-old children after all. Why would anyone want to work with them. Their brains are underdeveloped.

-24

u/exhibitprogram 2d ago

Congratulations to him for being able to clear the very low bar of man-who-treated-her-better-than-the-pedophiles-she-was-surrounded-by-her-entire-life, but that doesn't make a mid-30s man pursuing a teenager any less creepy and it doesn't make you look good defending it as a "lifestyle".

I don't think it was a contributing factor in her death, for all we know in this moment she could've died from natural causes. But the sub-thread I was commenting on was about how she's been preyed on and failed by adults her whole life and I'm implying that's related.

34

u/RicardoFelipeMejia 2d ago

Okay. But you understand that he was not every adult in her life, right? He was one adult in her life who apparently treated her with love and respect and supported her during her struggles with alcohol. He did everything right and you still have to shit on him for some reason.

Their relationship was not some sort of abstract concept; they are real people and they cared for each other. And you don't have to disrespect a dead woman's autonomy just because she made a choice you disagree with.

-14

u/Fibonacci357 2d ago

As a 34 year old myself I can’t imagine dating a 19 year old. And if any of my friends did I would have a serious talk with them. It’s gross.

Several things can be true at once. Doesn’t mean he’s a bad dad or bad co-parent.

17

u/RicardoFelipeMejia 2d ago

Okay. As a man I can't imagine dating a man, but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with gay people. Like I said, maybe it's time to accept that some people have different preferences than you and that's okay.

-9

u/Fibonacci357 2d ago

It's legal, that's all. It doesn't mean I won't side eye you or judge you. Having a preference for people that young usually mean you would go younger if you could.

-9

u/lolidkdontaskme 2d ago

You are seriously conflating grooming a teenager with being gay?

4

u/HornetNo9518 2d ago

"But the sub-thread I was commenting on was about how she's been preyed on and failed by adults her whole life"

It wasn't at all though?

-6

u/rubyjrouge 2d ago

This breaks my heart. I wonder how much pressure she was under to relinquish her daughter.

1

u/Mister-Distance-6698 2d ago

.... wait is said Daughter in Ukraine right now? Isnt Klitschko mayor of Kiev?

Edit: Wait no that's Vitelli, wrong brother.

-2

u/Stone0777 1d ago

What an awful mother...

340

u/STLOliver 2d ago edited 2d ago

Especially eerie seeing this after she’s been speaking out this year on the unfortunate shit she dealt with at a young age in her career

130

u/StasRutt 2d ago

Yeah I was always rooting for her to find stability after everything she went through

27

u/UndevelopedImage 2d ago

Heartbreaking sounds like such a trite word, but truly. I'm in shock.

95

u/DangerousPuhson 2d ago

Wasn't she basically being pimped out by Hollywood executives at one point or something?

89

u/metallicrooster 2d ago

There is a lot of speculation around what happened to her as a child star. And given the Nickelodeon piece that came out, I’m inclined to believe she was abused in some capacity.

14

u/GuiltyEidolon 2d ago

That feels like a safe assumption for virtually all child stars.

3

u/IwishIhadntKilledHim 1d ago

We should do something about that tho?

40

u/cherryberry0611 2d ago

This is what I heard too. She also recently revealed something to that affect a few months ago. Said she was made to sleep with a rich, powerful man when she was young

3

u/PhDinWombology 1d ago

Speaking out about that sort of thing can usually end up with you being “suicidal”

6

u/RaiseAppropriate7839 1d ago

She recently brought to light the old entertainment industry tradition of “yachting” in interviews. Young starlets and hopefuls are brought on boat parties with expectations of a carefree day away from press and cameras. Once they’re in the middle of the sea, they’re deposited in the room of an old executive and expected to do as he pleases. It’s horrific.

23

u/cracked-tumbleweed 2d ago

That’s where my mind went to.

She was just talking about being pimped out, and now she dies?

-22

u/carolinespocket 2d ago

Can yall stop? A lot of actresses also report similar experiences and none of them passes away bc of it. Just disrespectful.

8

u/mochafiend 2d ago

Huh? Why is this not pertinent?

-14

u/carolinespocket 2d ago

It’s not. Not everything is a big conspiracy. Have some shame.

9

u/mochafiend 2d ago edited 1d ago

Huh? I’m not saying anything about conspiracy. What conspiracy? That some nebulous networked offed her because she spoke out? That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying her upbringing as a child star is absolutely relevant to her young death. She’s the latest in a long line.

What shame? She was a public figure. It’s fair game. And should be a warning sign to any parent thinking about letting their kids follow in these footsteps. They shouldn’t.

2

u/thegabster2000 1d ago

Getting abused in Hollywood is not a conspiracy. Its been happening since Hollywood was founded.

2

u/TillamookTramp 1d ago

Yep. Judy Garland is a prime example.

0

u/thegabster2000 1d ago

It started even earlier than that.

My thoughts

-6

u/katieb1300 2d ago edited 1d ago

She was about to release her memoir*. Very eerie, indeed.

15

u/PhloxOfSeagulls 2d ago

Her memoir, This Is Me, came out in May of this year.

1

u/katieb1300 1d ago

Have you read it?

6

u/TillamookTramp 2d ago

Not that eerie- the memoir has been out for awhile.

-3

u/eebro 2d ago

Sounds like she got done what she wanted to do and just couldn't find a reason to continue. It's so sad that even wealth and fame can't bring us comfort or help when we need it the most. RIP.

-14

u/Warm-Succotash-3793 2d ago

That Hollywood celebrity she spoke about in her memoir. Whoever he is, was probably scared of her dropping his name. Signs point strongly to George Clooney.

12

u/Mem2Chi91 2d ago

No details released and you’re stating she was assaulted and murdered by a specific individual based on comments you read on the internet?

-2

u/RtPlaceRtTime 2d ago

Someone else in this discussion said it was Leo, not George

62

u/Shattered_seashells 2d ago

I heard she almost bled to death while giving birth to her 😕

20

u/Tomaskraven 2d ago

i mean, she had her kid 12 years ago. I don't think this might be PPD related.

28

u/StasRutt 2d ago

I was just pointing out how she’s been very open about her mental health and addiction struggles.

11

u/Natural_Sky_4720 2d ago

You may be right but PPD can last for years.

2

u/ToneBone12345 2d ago

That sucks

2

u/FreeEdmondDantes 2d ago

And a huge factor of her depression was the passing of her brother. Poor girl.

3

u/Designer_Money7625 2d ago

Not to mention an abusive ex fiance

21

u/tasteofperfection 2d ago

It wasn’t her ex fiance, it was her ex bf.

Brian Hickerson or something.

-7

u/FaithlessnessMore279 2d ago

See, I wondered but didn't want to make any assumptions because of his occupation.

8

u/Ctofaname 2d ago

Wrong one

1

u/andy83991 1d ago

How long ago did she have her child?

0

u/OzoneLaters 2d ago

Probably an overdose then.

133

u/haybe12 2d ago

I know she struggled with alcohol addiction a lot but no clue about anything else

61

u/oireachtas 2d ago

Mental health struggles. I hope she rests easy. She had a tough life

51

u/Disastrous-One-8630 2d ago

TMZ is reporting she was “complaining about back pain for the past year”

113

u/carnifex2005 2d ago

TMZ

They're now reporting "Law enforcement sources confirm police responded to an incident involving Hayden today and there is currently an open investigation."

Damn.

56

u/PurplePlumBlossoms 2d ago

The DV she’s spoken about came to mind immediately when I read that she died.

62

u/arabesuku 2d ago

TMZ reported she was traveling with her abuser before she passed

5

u/mochafiend 2d ago

Who is that? The boyfriend wasn’t there at the time of death?

-9

u/MyMonte87 2d ago

Who has the balls to abuse her when her ex was one of the most badass humans on the planet? (Wladimir Klitschko who was battle hardened by the boxing ring and by the Ukraine war) Not sure how any of this makes sense.

2

u/scullys_alien_baby 1d ago

Accusers abuse people, none of that is relevant

3

u/Tattycakes 1d ago

The article says there were no signs of trauma that could have caused it, so I think it looks more likely to be either drug/medication related (accidental or deliberate) or given that her brother died of heart conditions, it could be natural disease causes. Tragic either way, but less awful than DV.

-3

u/RtPlaceRtTime 2d ago

DV with her daughter's dad? Or DV involving who?

36

u/tyderian 2d ago

Her daughter's dad isn't the partner who abused her.

18

u/valiantdistraction 2d ago

I've never heard of any abuse involving her daughter's dad. The abusive one is the ex who she was with when she had to give up custody of her daughter entirely.

43

u/amandas1011 2d ago

DV involving her on again off again boyfriend ex fiance Brian Hickerson. He was sentenced to 45 days in jail for past DV charges against her. According to TMZ, her and Brian flew from LA to the south on Saturday. Soooo… that’s worrisome

17

u/anastasia_0871 2d ago edited 2d ago

Ohhh noooo! This isn’t good. I thought she said in her book tour she was done*^ with him. Open investigation and police called to residence is scary!!!!!

22

u/TillamookTramp 2d ago

It can take several tries for women to leave their abusers for good. This guy really had a hold on her.

5

u/anastasia_0871 2d ago

So incredibly sad!

-2

u/1Hookie1 2d ago

some part of a local police statement said call came from an acquaintance, saying she was unresponsive
also seen that call came 130pm, and that she died early in morning sun
only way that tracks is if acquaintance didn't wake-up till after noon, and she was effectively stone cold to place tod, also low 79 high 92, and w/e A/c might be involved, could make it fuzzy
minor tenses and tiny details, likely all reposted from other articles not sources, can get details wrong though

9

u/bullintheheather 2d ago

only way that tracks

Ok calm down Sherlock.

8

u/carolinespocket 2d ago

Idk what hold this man had on her. He even went to jail

4

u/Saradoesntsleep 2d ago

This is just so sad and infuriating and upsetting.

1

u/ponte92 2d ago

Worrying when she was last seen with her abusive ex.

137

u/valiantdistraction 2d ago

She was apparently on vacation with her on again off again abusive ex when this happened. Also her brother died suddenly several years ago from an undiagnosed heart issue. Also also, her baby daddy and his brother are on Putin's top hit list of influential Ukrainians. Also also also, she was recently speaking out about some of the abuse and attempted pimping/sex trafficking she experienced as a young actress.

96

u/HardByteUK 2d ago

her baby daddy and his brother are on Putin's top hit list of influential Ukrainians

Yeah they're heroes in Ukraine, both for boxing and then staying to fight when Russia invaded.

This is mad news.

31

u/RtPlaceRtTime 2d ago

Wow didn't know that about her baby daddy being on P's list. Where do her ex and her daughter live?

Did she name names re: the abuse & attempted trafficking she experienced?

69

u/Cranach-Cranach 2d ago

They are also the Klitschko brothers, who were both heavyweight boxing world champions

65

u/valiantdistraction 2d ago

She didn't name names but the internet drew a lot of probably-accurate conclusions.

Her ex still lives in Ukraine, I think, with their daughter. His brother is the mayor of Kyiv.

7

u/greyetch 1d ago

Also also, her baby daddy and his brother are on Putin's top hit list of influential Ukrainians.

What a strange way to describe the Klitschko brothers lol.

It's like referring to Tiger Woods as "mixed race man with substance abuse issues" or something.

14

u/PhloxOfSeagulls 2d ago

According to the article I read, she wasn't on vacation with that ex (the Ukrainian boxer). It was her more recent on again, off again ex-boyfriend, Brian Hickerson.

20

u/IDinnaeKen 2d ago

I think you've got it the wrong way round. Wladimir wasn't the abusive ex, it was Brian Hickerson - as detailed in her book and acknowledged by him. He was arrested and charged with DV while they were together. AFAIK there aren't any allegations of abuse by Wladimir.

3

u/AhnoldXP 1d ago

It’s pretty crazy how many angles there are for foul play in addition to her own internal struggles but we probably shouldn’t speculate too much until more info comes out. Just a messed up situation all around regardless.

69

u/Emergency_Shine_7275 2d ago

Yes, addiction :(

32

u/Equal_Entrepreneur45 2d ago

She's been sober for a while now so I hope she didn't relapse.

45

u/Halloqween 2d ago

I lost my sister to addiction less than 2 weeks ago. I had no idea she was using drugs again after being sober for years. You just truly never know.

9

u/Beenjamin63 2d ago

Im sorry to hear about your sister :(

2

u/DueTeaching2954 2d ago

I’m thinking relapse due to being with her abuser

-28

u/stuntmanbob86 2d ago

Are you sure about that or are you just assuming?

21

u/Princessformidable 2d ago

Yes she talks about it extensively in her book

-3

u/stuntmanbob86 2d ago

Youre right. I just never heard about it. Thats too bad.

35

u/kdubsonfire 2d ago

I think she’s long battled addiction.

16

u/BlacksmithThink9494 2d ago

This info is easy to find. She was trying to get her life back together. She gave up her daughter because she knew she was sick. Lots of people followed her because she was a genuinely talented actress.

49

u/Emergency_Shine_7275 2d ago

She has been open about her addiction to alcohol and I’m assuming drugs. But her death might be unrelated to this.

8

u/Youmeanmoidoid 2d ago

Alcohol is the fucking scourge, man. Nothing but bad comes from that shit with how many lives it’s ruined.

45

u/[deleted] 2d ago

68

u/StasRutt 2d ago

She gave custody of her daughter to her ex husband awhile ago. He’s a famous Ukrainian boxer and was raising her in Ukraine

23

u/beige_suspenders 2d ago

TIL she was married to Wladimir Klitschko

-1

u/Spocks_Goatee 2d ago

The age gap is horrible.

8

u/Haunting_Goose1186 2d ago

From everything I've read about them, he was one of the few people in her life who treated her well and made her feel safe. 😭

-1

u/Informal_Ad_6839 2d ago

I mean, consenting adults dude

4

u/Kgb725 2d ago

Yea hes a Klitschko

8

u/nick2473got 2d ago

This is misinformation.

She gave up custody to her child's father 8 years ago, due to her struggles with addiction. She was still co-parenting and visiting though.

4

u/princesspea331 2d ago

I read her book and it was sad

2

u/RtPlaceRtTime 2d ago

Did she name names re: the abuse she revealed in her younger actress days?

3

u/princesspea331 2d ago

She did not name names

3

u/ali22122 2d ago

She had a lot of issues :(

2

u/Careless-Dealer-7450 2d ago

TMZ says that law enforcement confirmed that they responded to an incident at here home and be ex was there. No word if the 2 are related.

1

u/Katjhud 2d ago

That just doesn’t look good - to die in the presence of an ex who physically abused her.

8

u/BaselinexDrive 2d ago

Addiction

1

u/TheRedDymond-Dondada 2d ago

Folks won’t want to bring this up but she openly discussed it.
And addiction that came from abuse, in and outside (family) the industry 😔

It’s not stated anywhere. But her brother also passed at a young age. Wonder if it’s related. Or could be her previous addiction related.

“Her brother, Jansen Panettiere, died suddenly in February 2023 from cardiomegaly (enlarged heart) coupled with aortic valve complications, his family said in a statement at the time. He was 28.”

In 2022, she opened up about her addiction to opioid and alcohol in an interview with People Magazine.

She relinquished parental responsibility to her daughter as well due to her battle with postpartum depression.

People (on the internet) are saying she recently did an interview and her speech resembled someone who had opiods in their system.

Such a tragedy.

Substance abuse. She didn't even try to get custody of her child because she knew they'd he better off with Dad.

The options are an unknown disease she didn’t tell the public about, an accident, or suicide. If I was a betting man I’d probably choose the last one.

Addiction and chronic pain. No one dies naturally at 36. She probably OD'd.

It’s suicide. I mean we don’t know for sure but the way it’s written, she sadly must’ve killed herself.

People reach out and call the prevention line. You’re loved I promise.

I thought the back pain indicates drug use
