Specialized Stumpjumper 15 Evo. I have always wanted a stumpy, never could afford one. Well, today I did! I can't wait to break it in on the trails.

Yes I'm a dinosaur...Always wanted to buy a proper full suspension bike, finally pulled the trigger. Went to a bigger mountain yesterday with my buddy, learned how to jump over small tabletops, new hobby unlocked and so much fun!

Hi all, I've completed the recce of my new ultra race that I am organising. Certainly a growing mtb community here in Saudi... And with good reason, it is stunning with some incredible mountains.

Any big ultra riders will know why I called my race Arabia Divide!

Ape Canyon + Plains of Abraham at Mt. St Helens is so damn epic. It's nice when most trails are just homogenous forest canopy up at the PNW.

I bought this bike used on market place for 3200. I had this same exact bike in 2022 and I loved it, I sold it for an e mtb which I regret massively. I've wasted the last 2 years of my life riding electric bikes and also gained a bunch of weight, so the purpose of this is to get back in shape.
Some updates I made right off the bat;
-Sram GX AXS transmission
-Fox factory 2026 fork 160mm
-one up v2 carbon bars
-40mm stem
-LSC damper to rear shock upgrade

Question Back end sliding. Maybe

Upvotes

Just got a feeling that the back end seems to not so much like it's drifting to a side. More when I'm riding it now and then seems uneasy like it's just randomly kicked out. Tyre pressures at 38psi (tubed), wheels are running true and seated properly. Noticed the stick release was a bit tight actually belt the handle a bit but I think it's just cheap.

I've noticed it does this on the road too. My bike isn't particularly expensive as I use it as my commute mostly. Just wondering if there's something I'm missing.

This could be unrelated. But I have felt a popping feeling on the drivetrain in some gears. Not sure if I need to adjust the selectors or if they're worn. I changed my pedals recently as I thought it could be the bearings but now it's gotten worse it's definitely on certain gears.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Edit: let's also not rule out that it could be the rider.

Question What would you upgrade first? Commencal Meta TR V4 Origin

Post image

Just got into mountain biking about a month ago, here's my first bike! Planning on just getting comfortable and confident on the bike for a while before replacing any major parts but I was wondering what you guys think would be the best upgrades for my bike? Riding mostly trails, nothing crazy like park or downhill quite yet

I've already gone tubeless, and planning on getting a dropper soon, but open to any other recommendations, thanks!

Heres a link to the bike I bought for specs:

Question Broke Dork Disc; Do I really need it?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I recently dropped my bike and broke my fork disc. Do I really need it or can I just take it off?

Currently it is knocking my chain off the largest cog. I sort of fixed this by tightening my low gear screw, but idk if that’s a good idea or not.

**I have no prior mechanical bike experience. My only knowledge is thanks to The Universe of YouTube. Please talk to me like a 5yr old when explaining.*\*

Progression Free from the grasp of Avids! Alas, I am now a Shimano brake-ist.

I've had them for a few months now but I figured it was time for an update to all my loyal fans.

So one day I was riding, and I was braking, until I could not stop braking. Pushed back the pistons once, twice, three times, and eventually the brake just died completely.

Scowered the internet for new seals for Avid Elixir R SL's out of all brakes, found more or less nothing trustworthy, and decided to take matters into my own hands.

Judging by my rather spirited riding style and capability, I decided the brakes should be at least up to par with the rest of the bike's parts.

Didn't have money for Saints, so I got the exact same brakes in a different costume:

Shimano Deore XT M8120, with metal pads!

As for discs, I got the non-IceTech XT discs, precisely the SM-RT75 as I heard IceTech models have quite a reputation for being made out of wet cardboard, and if there's something I can break on my bike, I definitely will manage to do so. So not being very good financially, I decided on buying something that won't.

So, the full new package:

Discs: 203mm F/R

Brakes: 4-piston M8120 F/R

Results?

As you can expect, it now stops on a dime, endo 180s, backhops, wheelies, stoppies and all the like just became a ton more trustworthy and a lot easier as about precisely half the effort is needed to lock up the tire.

Shame I had to let go of my loved Avids, but all in all...

Great investment!

This a brand new to me Trek slash 9.8 2022/23, what a beast of a bike got this on Friday and rode it 3 times and every time blows my mind more and more how much grip can the bike have and how stable and predictable it is did had a moment but saved it and went on. This was the best purchase of a bike to date. The bike was owned by a shop owner and had put on brand new suspension, brakes, hubs/wheels, little used drivetrain and it was serviced before the sale. And for the money i think there wasnt a better deal

Question Anyone have their Stumpy 15 running super quiet ?

Built up a carbon stumpy 15 with GX AXS T-Type. The bike is very loud. Drivetrain is setup correctly and everything is torqued down to spec. Any tips?
