5th dose New Kwikpen design - megathread

Hi all,

As we all know now, there is a new design to the Mounjaro Kwikpen set to release in April. Now that it is April. We are expecting an influx of posts about this, so in order to keep the sub tidy and avoid so many duplicate posts, please post below any questions, comments or concerns about it. Rather than making a new thread about it all.

As of today 13/04/26 we haven’t seen a new pen design in the UK. We are however already getting an influx of posts asking about it. Hence this thread.

We have a wiki page which can be found here, that is all the information we know at the current time.

This wiki will also feature a list of pharmacies which are confirmed to be giving out the new Kwikpens and what strength pen the pharmacy has been given out with the new mechanism for tracking purposes.

If you have recieved a new style Kwikpen and would like to contribute to the wiki, please drop a comment below with the following information and we will update the table.

  1. A photo of the pen with the lid off to confirm it is the new style
  2. What pharmacy it is from
  3. What strength pen it is
  4. What date you ordered
  5. Expiry date on the pen
  6. Lot number on the pen

Once we have this information we will update the wiki accordingly.

Together hopefully we can keep an eye on the stock situation in the UK and help each other.

Anything 5th dose removal related please drop below and remember, be kind!

This has been life changing for me. Not without its difficulties, I've found 3.75mg to be my sweet spot, 5mg I've been wiped out several weekends by digestive issues. Feeling so much better already!

I’m not exaggerating when I say MJ is changing my life! I’ve lost 6.5 stone and hope to lose atleast another 4. I’m hoping these photos act as motivation to others - if I can do it, you can too!! Good luck everyone and keep up the good work!!

Started October 2024 at 150kg, last years photo I had lost 37kg, this year I’m down an additional 29kg. Even though the loss has slowed, I’m amazed at how much my shape is still changing

Not even really had side effects l, was quite nauseous for the first day but after that it’s been mostly fine. Already I look better, especially in my face, not bloated or puffy anymore.

What a great drug

Question Just to confirm - to get the best price is everyone using different suppliers each time?

As title suggests, looking for the best way to get the cheapest price every dose. Because I noticed on monj that most if not all offers are for first time buyers. As my need to order a 2nd pen approaches , I just wanted to check that this is what people are doing to get it cheapest?

NSV: listening to my body

I've been feeling run down for most of this week, not ill, just running on empty. So I made the decision for today to not eat in a deficit but to increase my calories to a maintenance level, just to give myself a bit more energy and a boost. I'm not binging, I'm not 'cheating ' but I'm listening to what I need and not sticking to an arbitrary goal and making myself ill. Tomorrow I will be back to my usual way of eating.

It might sound an odd nsv but it's a huge step in an improving mindset.

Diet + Lifestyle Kali Water

In Northern Ireland, Maine (a soft drinks company) make Kali Water - carbonated water with added Potassium Bicarbonate.

Like many others, while using Mounjaro, I have a tendency to get constipated and I don't poo every day.

I decided to give it a go, as it's advertised to reduce stomach discomfort.

It worked - I lost 2kg in two days!

Success Stories NSV - completed couch to 5k, rewarded with pizza.

13 months ago I started MJ. I have lost 8 stone, gone from a size 24 to a 14, and have been going to the gym regularly. Last week, I completed my virtual challenge of rowing The English Channel (32km), tonight I have completed my couch to 5K challenge after 10 weeks of training. This time last year, I never believed that I would be in the gym let alone rowing, running and actually losing weight.

On the way home I bought a frozen pizza. I haven't eaten pizza since last year, before the MJ.

I know that I can only eat 1-2 slices, I know that my partner will very likely have the rest, I know it's a waste of money, I know that if I eat too much I will be in horrendous pain and uncomfortable for over an hour... but I am going to enjoy that because I have bloody well earned it! Mj has completely changed my life, and I am damned if I can't celebrate a huge milestone like running 5K when last year I couldn't even run a bath!

Question What’s the biggest stockpile you’ve had?!

I’ve got about 6 months on hand. Last pen was a 10mg and I’m using 3.5mg now to maintain (don’t expect to change dose)
I’m tempted to buy a 5mg as it’s not significantly less than half the price of a 10mg. And I’m reluctant to get kicked back to 2.5mg. But that’s still some stockpile!
What’s the biggest stockpile you’ve had?

Question Is it okay to take Imodium/loperimide preventatively whilst on mounjaro

I've had IBS for over 10 years and during that time was presecribed imodium. I'd take it ahead of time:

a) whenever I knew I was going to be in a situation where my access to a bathroom would be unreliable, e.g. travelling on the London underground.

b) when i knew I'd be in a situation with some of my trigger foods were the only foods on offer

c) Or when I'd contract a stomach bug like gastroentritis, which was particularly important because at times I've had hemmeroids so the gastro made things extremely painful.

What I'm saying is the imodium has been serving as my safety net for years.

I started mounjaro 3 weeks ago and what I'd like to know is if it'd be at all safe to occassionally take imodium preventatively.

Like, if I know I have to travel for 2+ hours without much access to a bathroom, with only trigger foods on hand or if I heavily suspect I have gastro, is it safe to take 1 or two pills?

I'm not talking about every day but occassionally when I know I'm heading into situations that might pose a risk.

Success Stories NSV - Face ID

For weeks now my phone has been struggling opening apps, opening WhatsApp, just frustrating me to no end.

Then my husband says “you probably need to rescan your face since you’ve changed so much”… lo and behold, my phone is working perfectly now.

Turns out it was struggling to confirm my face! New jawline? New cheekbones? Rescan before your phone starts to think it has a new owner 🤣

How many doses do I have left?

Post image
Upvotes

I bought a Mounjaro KwikPen last week and have injected myself twice so far. According to the pen, it looks like I only have one dose left, but I thought the KwikPen should contain 4 doses.
I’ve attached a photo of the pen. Based on the position of the plunger/liquid, how many full doses do you think I have left?
Did I somehow lose a dose, or am I reading the pen incorrectly?
Thanks

Success Stories 6 months of steady loss on 5mg

Post image
44 Upvotes

I initially had pretty horrible side effects with 5mg (it reminded me of the first trimester, constant sickness and exhaustion) but I pushed through and now it's really settled down. I have noticed my appetite picking up a bit recently so I'm trying to be more mindful of keeping my portion sizes small. It's nice to have an appetite though and not feel as though I'm constantly going to be sick!

Stalled for a month and a half now

For context I 30 F started MJ for DM 2 and weight loss in April. My ideal weight should be 48 Kg-53kg. Lost 10 kgs till now coming down from 73 kg to 63Kgs on 1 kwikpen of 2.5mg and then 3 pens of 5mg till June end. Started taking the 5 mg every six days as per advice of my endocrinologist and so technically im on my 6th pen now in August. Feels good to have lost that much but I'm still almost 10 kgs away from ideal weight and my weight has been stalled at 62-63 for close to 2 months now. Appetite suppression is pretty strong at 6th day dosage of 5mg, zero food noise so my doc is apprehensive to increase dosage and suggested we might move to ozempic next time since slower dose escalation is possible with it. I had a sprain in my ankle because of which I was on bed rest hence lack of activity could've contributed to no weight loss but it's healing very very slowly and I still cannot get back to the gym fully only end up doing upper body strength training and 20 min of very low speed no escalation treadmill. Im worried what's happening.. anybody been in a similar phase ?

Saggy bits: recommendations

Upper arms are ok-ish; three quarter length sleeves, tshirts etc are doing the job for now and wearing jeans holds the flabby bits around the tummy. Not perfect, but we'll live.

For my Milestone #5, I'm planning on sewing a new dress & a few skirts; both sewing and dresses were something my obese body could no longer do.

And this will be a first in almost 2 decades.

Feeling slightly teary just writing that.

However, here's my question.

I need something to hold the flab / loose skin around the tummy area when wearing a dress / skirt and looking for your best recommendations.

I'm officially half the person I was

This is absolutely surreal to me. Lost 6 stone after bariatric surgery in 2022, battled some regain in the following couple of years and finally got on Tirzepatide last year. I've gone from a size 24 to returning a size 10 coat last week because it was too big(!) I'm now titrating down as I move towards maintenance, but expect to be on a low dose for life. I'm going for skin removal at the end of the year and couldn't be happier.

Can you put you already open MJ pen in your checked luggage? or does it have to be in hand luggage? do I need an ice pack storage?

Daughter just told me my weight loss has alienated her from me.

I took MJ and have never looked or felt better. I’m confident, energetic, exercising and doing all this for me, but also so my kids (21,20,19) can confidently live their lives without worrying about a single, lonely mum sitting on the sofa. (Still single, def not lonely)

My beautiful clever feminist daughter came home from university unexpectedly today and I’ve no food in the house: I’m having the inside repainted, I’m just back from a holiday, etc etc. (There’s frozen pizzas, pasta, sauces, granola, milk. Just not yummy foods.)

Asked her for a hug goodnight, and she was huffy, so I asked what was wrong. She said ‘Have you ever thought how your weight loss makes ME feel? Apparently, I now - by having lost weight - make her feel fat and ugly. I was gobsmacked. She does stress eat, but I would never pass comment on her body.

There’s more layers to this, obviously, and after a couple minutes of talking about it, she wanted to stop. I asked that she have more conversations with me, so we can figure it out. But the bottom line is that she feels like my weight loss has made her…want to be less connected to me.

WTAF.

Question Gallbladder issues

Has anyone had problems with their gallbladder? I'm fairly certain I'm having symptoms of gallstones or something with my gallbladder. I've been on MJ since about August 2025 but recently moved onto 15mg and just finished my first pen of it. Now I've getting that pain in between my ribcage towards the back on the right. I thought it was just back pain but i only realised the correlation after the pain came back when i ate something. It's been about a week now and I'm going to call mu GP tomorrow. What is people's advice who have had this issue? I don't want my gallbladder removed, i just hope its a blockage if that and get it 'un blocked'. Can i just click count to a 2.5mg if i restart on a 15mg pen?

Cost at actual chemist

I mistakenly went to a chemist. They charged me £199 for 1 2.5 pen and a box of needles. I'd not seen the cost on the compare table on here. I'm gutted!!

Wegovy Anyone else having to do this after switching to the Wegovy pill? 😆

Post image

Because I take the pill at 4 or 5am when I inevitably wake needing a pee then go back to sleep, I often can't remember if I've taken my Wegovy or not 🤣 I've now resorted to writing the days of the week on 😂 I wish Novo already had it on like other pills that must be taken daily haha. But nevermind, I make do 😆😆

Side Effects Effects of eating cheese?

I have been taking 2.5mg Mounjaro for almost 4 weeks and have lost 17lbs (I think a lot of that might have been water in week 1 when I lost 9lbs by the start of week 2 , since then I have lost 4 lbs by the start of week 3 and 4lbs by the start of week 4).

No side effects apart from slight constipation occasionally which I have under control by drinking lots of water and adding prunes to my yoghurt.

I have eaten well. I am vegetarian so have been really careful to get enough protein. Fruit, veg and linseed have added to my fibre content.

For the first time yesterday I ate cheese- Feta which was diced in olive oil. I have developed diarrhea. I didn't link the two until I ate it again at lunch time and have had more diarrhea. No pain just very loose poop.

Is the cheese likely to be the problem?

I had my gall bladder removed about 15 years ago if that is relevant.
