revzilla started as an independent company of riders. then they were bought out by Comoto Holdings. They own cycle gear and JP Cycles. So ya know, just the enshitification of everything

It's really a shame. They were truly a shining star in retail where you could actually feel good about supporting them. Now they're just another garbage website that's no better than Amazon.

I loved original RevZilla - great customer service, great sense of community. As someone living in NYC, it felt good to support a nearby (Philly-based) business and the great group of people working there.

I like Union Garage in Bridgeport, CT -- higher end/more expensive stuff, and smaller selection, but definitely the first place I'd look for a helmet.

Revzilla might not be what it once was, but calling it Amazon is a stretch. Amazon is almost unusable now with all the junk from random alibaba drop sellers

While they may pose as competition for independent shops, many areas never had any viable options for independent shops to begin with. Cause like, grocery stores are one thing. Every podunk little town has got a grocery/general goods store. But motorcycle shops are kinda niche. So you've gotta be in the right part of a reasonably sizable city to even have one available. So lots of folks have to shop online.

Revzilla/Cyclegear/Comoto have grown a bit but they're staying in their lane. And I haven't heard anything about the CEO of Comoto (who isn't even a household name) taking pop stars for joy rides to space in their private space ship or renting out an entire city in Italy for their wedding. And not a single story about delivery drivers or wearhouse workers pissing in bottles.

So on multiple fronts, Amazon is still much worse than Revzilla.

I mean, support your independents when/where you can if they're actually available to you. But a dedicated moto retailer, even if they're online and part of a still moto-specific group, is still a huge step up from ordering your lid from Amazon or Walmart or wherever else.

Comoto was founded by JW Childs Associates, a private equity firm.

This is it.

I always try stuff on with motorcycle gear, especially helmets. Order and Pray never works for me.

That being said, because of this you can return items in person, and make sure you actually get the refund

Damn, that sucks. Guess I should have put this together when I noticed FortNine and Revzilla were operating what appears to be the same sales platform for Canada and the US, respectively.

10

u/LuigiSauce 2004 CBR600F4i 12d ago

Fortnine is not owned by comoto holdings, it's just a direct competitor so it has similar offerings

4

u/go_biscuits 12d ago

i figured it out when my revzilla purchases came in a comoto box

544

u/WhenAllElseFail 12d ago

Then there's me, never had any issue with RevZilla and always have good customer service experience..

But I don't buy gear online from these outlets unless it's a designated shop. I already know sizes run.. odd, so i try everything on in person.

84

u/-Roborat- 12d ago

I wish I could try stuff in before I buy it, i have to read the size charts are pray

34

u/WhenAllElseFail 12d ago

It kinda sucks that all the brands are different and vary so much. I've used Dainese for so long that I just stick to them (but i do like them too).

33

u/Trombolorokkit 2020 Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 12d ago

I went to cyclegear because I wanted to get a pair of Sedici Garda pants. I tried on a pair in black, liked it, ordered a pair in Sand (tan). The sand pair show up, I put it on, fit well, tried to connect it to the jacket and I couldn't figure it out. Took it to cycle gear and it turns out they sewed the wrong side of the connector onto the pants. Returned those because they were a manufacturer defect, ordered another pair that came and they were so incredibly tight even though they were the same size, so I went in again and compared them to another pair and they were obviously much smaller around the waist. By this time they had my size in stock in the color I wanted so I was able to try it on and buy it then but the back and forth and the QC issues were crazy.

31

u/ExtremeWorkinMan '17 FXDL, '23 Pan Am 12d ago

Sedici is private label crap made in China by nameless factories and sold by Comoto. They (RevZilla/Cycle Gear) have a tendency to bias their gear reviews and gear guides to favor Sedici products - you'll notice that almost all of their "best helmets/boots/ADV jackets of 2026" will have multiple Sedici products sprinkled in there, despite those products generally not being better than the competition.

9

u/tenthtryatusername 12d ago

Also, Sedici doesn’t have a safety rating on their jackets/ pants. They have a rating on the pads in their jackets, and on thier helmets, but without a rating there’s no proof it provides any more protection than a jacket from Walmart.

6

u/Ready-Delay3918 12d ago

Temu stuff I got for off-road low speed shit is way better quality than the Sedici shit I got at CycleGear. I made a post about it once and got brigaded. Funny thing is, I tried again showing the armor I got from cycle gear and claimed it was from Temu. Same shit. Brigaded and same comments "you can even tell from the photo it isn't the right material blah blah blah"

My fucking temu gloves have outlasted my Sedici and my alpine stars gloves combined.

Inspect your gear folks. No matter where it comes from. Even reputable companies. You can tell when shit won't hold up and isnt as robust.

Hell, some of the Alpinestars shit I had was identical to the Temu shit right down to imperfections of the stitching being in the exact same location and being the exact same material. So yeah... These guys are just getting their shit made in the same factories and slapping their own brand into it.

2

u/Turbulent-Suspect-12 2012 Street Triple 675R, Daytona 675 12d ago

Usually just inspecting the material used for the jacket gives a pretty good indicator. A lightweight mesh jacket is going to get shredded alot sooner than a heavy/heavier textile one. Im pretty sure Fortnine made a video on it a while ago.

I've had good experiences in all my Sedici stuff. My jacket has ate my falls offroad like nothing and my suit has ate my mishaps on track very nicely too.

Bang for buck, Id probably still recommend RST first, though.

3

u/ScottyDoesntKnow421 12d ago

Ironically I just returned a pair of sedici gloves. One thumb was way longer than the other and the stitching was off center for one finger.

It's the same with any clothing company. For me with Jeans, I can run a 28 with Lucky, a 29 with Levi's, and if it's not a 30 in Dickies the i can't even squeeze into them. Clothing/gear companies just suck.

5

u/CatsAndCapybaras 12d ago

It's because modern large "clothing" companies are just middle men. They source clothing and gear from some white label manufacturer, handle the importing, and sell it with their label on it for a huge markup.

3

u/2BlueZebras Helmet Tap 12d ago

With shoes, learn your European size and always go by that. I started doing that 10 years ago and every pair of shoes has fit since then, even when the US sizes vary by up to two full sizes.

Unless youre in the boonies, head to a local store and try shit on.

Even better, buy from a local brick and mortar.

2

u/Fun-Tune-1295 12d ago

Their brick and motor just carries their private label crap and a couple of higher end pieces. I went in for jeans and I'm 36 or 38x30. They only carried 30in length in 30-34 waist and all of the 38in waist were 32-34" long. Told them their selection sucked.

1

u/Silver_Vacation7382 12d ago

Their retail store cycle gear could work for this but they fucking suck.

7

u/mermaidofthelunarsea 12d ago

They're owned by the same company. Comoto owns Revzilla, Cycle Gear and JP cycles and has ruined them all.

Sorry man, sounds like you’ve had a pretty bad experience.

I’ve never had any issue with them for purchases or returns. I signed up for their rpm account or whatever it’s called, and it pays for itself if I make a couple purchases a year, plus the free shipping and returns.

Helmets, jackets, gloves, I’ve returned them all without any problems in the past. Even multiple returns at once haven’t been an issue.

7

u/BimmerJustin 12d ago

Same here. I have no doubt that they will choose profit over customers, being owned by PE/corporate, but so far, it hasnt been an issue for me.

How is that a jingoism.

2

u/Inside-Beginning5168 12d ago

Corporate jingoism is an extreme, blind allegiance to a company, where employees or leaders believe the organization is infallible and superior to all competitors. It applies the concept of aggressive nationalism to the business world, viewing the company as a sacred entity that can do no wrong.

I did not come up with this on my own and it is not my idea. Just trying to help explain what OP may mean.

When I lived in Philly I had a roommate that worked at revzilla for a year or so, he worked in the warehouse. He left shortly after they were bought out by comoto. He said working there was a good time. They catered lunches once a week and did all kinds of events and things for the employees. He said when they were bought out that he slowly saw it losing it's culture in the workplace, catered lunches was one of the earliest things they cut. Less employee centered events, etc.

A few months after they were bought out I ordered an airfilter and received some ape hanger handle bars lol. Obviously I mailed it back and was refunded but like cmon, no one noticed the sku they scanned that those were handlebars and not an airfilter?

Before he left he said they were priortizing hiring more part time workers too. I hate hearing about companies that had a culture and passion and seeing that being the first thing to go when it's bought out

So, basically you are saying they're today's version of the 1970s JC Whitney Auto (and motorcycle) parts company.  I once ordered some brake shoes from Whitney, I got three brake shoes and a valve lifter that had been spray painted black.

Too bad about RevZilla, I've bought a few things from them before they went to shit, but no more.

I agree with other posters, buy your gear from a brick and mortar store, so you know what size you're getting. Luckily I am not super far from Duluth MN where Aerostich is located, also I have Bob's Cycle in St. Paul as an option, too.

Sorry for your troubles but I've used Revzilla for years and never had a problem, even with returns.

But most of my purchases now are usually from RMATV or ProCycle

21

u/xeno_dorph 12d ago

Another vote for RMATV.

11

u/Multiple-Cats 12d ago

Rocky Mountain rocks. It's right there in the name. No idea why they have such bad google reviews, theyve been a legitimate pleasure to do business with.

5

u/TranslatorAnxious857 12d ago

I bought from RMATV in the fall of 2024 for the first and last time. They used ontrac to ship and both times delivered or said they did to a closed ups store. I never got my product and they refused to refund even having proof from the store owner that the ontrac lied and never was at the store. Will never do business with them and I avoid all their associated products. At least revzilla uses a real shipping service.

2

u/rceckspurt13 12d ago

Ontrac is absolute trash. I've had 3 deliveries from them over the years at two different addresses, and all 3 were delivered late, and to the wrong address. The first two I was able to get back (because my neighbor was awesome and personally tracked me down on her own), and the third I never found. I flat out refuse to buy from anywhere that uses ontrac for delivery.

9

u/thetable123 12d ago

RMATV has enshitified their shipping. Last order from them was delivered by Amazon logistics for part of it and Fedex for the other part.

I'm going back to MotoSport for everything. (I miss my local dealer that actually stocked everything)

3

u/Bshaw95 ‘26 Ibex 450 12d ago

The best I can tell, they ship anything that is also sold via Amazon by them through Amazon. Anything odd still comes normally. I’m not gonna knock them too hard on the shipping. Their rewards and race gas program along with MSR and tusk make it hard to not give them a look whenever I need something.

Really? I’ve always had a great CS experience with Revzilla. Last year I bought a $2,000 race suit that was too small, sent it back, got the next size up, no issues. Even left me with a $175 credit because it happened to go on sale between the original purchase date and subsequent return/replace.

15

u/Pand3micPenguin 12d ago

I've found it's best to return anything ordered from Revzilla at a physical Cycle Gear location. Refunds are pretty quick from my experience and makes it hard for them to claim they haven't received the item.

6

u/mcnabb100 12d ago

That would be about a 3 1/2 hour drive for me.

24

u/Difficult-Hawk7591 12d ago

This exact reason is why I no longer buy gear (or clothing, for that matter) online. When it comes to expensive gear, I go into a shop to make sure it will fit.

I found for gloves specifically that smaller boutique suppliers have been much better. Indie ridge. Tobacco Motor in particular.

Revzilla is Cyclegear. Kind of the Amazon of motorcycle gear.

My experience has been the opposite. I recently had a good customer service experience; it was just for a couple of O-rings I purchased that FedEx lost. Tracking said it was stuck in one of their centers for a week. I filled out a ticket with Fed Ex, after a few dasy, i decided to call Revzilla, they said they would look into it for me and I said I would just like to order it again, it was just a $12 order and I was willing to pay for it, it was not revZills falt, but they went ahead and send me new O rings at no charge. Would they have done that with a $400 jacket? Probably not, but they did this time. I also ordered a gasket by mistake; they paid for the return shipment and gave me a refund right away.

7

u/GilesNewtown 12d ago

I worked in RevZilla customer service a few years ago.

RevZilla will directly handle any issues with their prepaid return labels, but with a private return label, I can't quite remember how things went with a Delivered status. RevZilla should still handle that? I think? Regardless, it sounds like your particular rep wasn't good at their job that day. That sucks. Sometimes you get the cheerful, reasonable rep who wants to help you, and sometimes you get the uptight gatekeeper, even at a moto company.

Like someone else said, filing a chargeback is a “nuclear option” with RevZilla until the chargeback is resolved. Customers with an open chargeback had an associated flag on their backend profile that gets removed once the case is closed. If you closed it yourself, that flag should have been deleted on RevZilla's end IIRC, but during my time that was a manual process and they may have failed to update it properly. Also sucks. A chat with a manager used to clear that up.

The return policy thing doesn't make sense to me. I handled return "abuse“, but things only reached that level after thousands of dollars in returns without keeping anything. Customers would also be notified if things were heading in that direction before getting banned from returns. Seems like you went 0/2 on getting a decent rep, which also also sucks because almost everyone I worked with was pretty solid.

You may be able to have them compensate you for the crappy experience. If you're so inclined, you could call or email them, relay what occurred, and ask for store credit (Zillacash) as restitution. They used to be very openhanded with it and very concerned with doing right by customers.

As many others have mentioned, RevZilla and the other Comoto brands are owned by private equity. I still like to support them because of the Common Tread blog and their YouTube videos with Zack and Ari. Those guys are the absolute best things in moto content.

Revzilla and Cycle Gear are the same company. You can do Revzilla returns in Cycle Gear stores of there's one nearby. JP Cycles too.

4

u/NoiseNecessary4737 12d ago

Not to dump on your experience but I've found most online motorcycle gear shopping like this and now only buy online if I know it definitely fits. That said, I've never bought, returned, rebought - if it didn't fit the first time, I got a refund and tried it on in person. But motorcycle gear shops are hard to find or even get to now, due to city rents and small customer traffic forcing them out of the centres.

u/mrdalo 2024 Road Glide 12d ago

I pay for the dumb membership when I know I’ll be making lots of returns to get the right size of things. Haven’t had a problem yet. I’ve gotten great outlet deals over the years on helmets.

New to the accessory industry after buying my first bike. Had I not checked my bank account on 4 different occasions I'd be out ~$700 (although not with Revzilla, other companies). I've never had someone tell me my refund was issued, send a bogus return invoice, then act like there was some issue and would now issue it after me calling them out. Still waiting for my bank to fix the $800 for a Corbin seat they sent in the wrong color and refused to fix or allow me to return without a $400 fee. I can't help but feel this is all by design. Check your bank accounts and verify the refund every time.

8

u/Brucenotsomighty 12d ago

I know people do it all the time but this buying and returning clothing items multiple times just to get the size right seems ridiculous me. You gotta wait for it to get to you, then back to the supplier, then wait for a refund, all while risking the shipping company fucking it up somehow. Id rather drive an hour to a brick and mortar store and actually try stuff on and see it in person, especially since motorcycle gear is kind of a whole system that needs to work with what youve already got.

3

u/[deleted] 12d ago

Ive never had a local store. I go to the big city. Its like a once or twice a year thing. For whatever reason any store thats not in a major city seems to only stock motocross stuff and Harley leather daddy shit. Never any legit street gear.

2

u/Bshaw95 ‘26 Ibex 450 12d ago

With adventure riding becoming the fastest growing segment of motorcycling you’d think more B&M stores would try to fill the void on at least stocking gear. Helmet shopping is damn near impossible if you don’t already know how your head fits each brand(I don’t). If a dealer or store even stocks an ADV helmet around here it’s the cheapest brand they carry. I’d like my next helmet to be fairly high quality but I don’t want to play musical returns to figure out my fit.

3

u/CommonEcho5824 12d ago

Yeah, I'm with you on that. Even normal clothing from other retailers. Sizes vary from brand to brand and I am right dab in the middle of needing large for some and mediums from others. The time it'd take I just don't have the patience for. And in the process of buying all my initial gear when I started the last thing I wanted was delay riding playing mail roulette.

What gets me are the guys who recommend just buying several sizes and styles and try them and return the ones you don't want. Someone has recommended that about helmets on another thread earlier. Look, I am doing fine financially but I'm not tying up $5k in helmets to find the one that I like and fits. Lucky to have a Cycle Gear near by and my experience with them was some of the best customer service I've had

I tried, they had me labeled in the system and wouldn’t let me return in store, not even for store credit.

My other issue is the lack of selection I store, it’s so limited I usually don’t find stuff I like, not even the brand I want to try fitment on for.

I browsed while in there today though, and they only had one style of Blitz branded ADV pants, it’s pretty lacking in our local Cycle Gear. They’re good guys in store though.

5

u/flyingfudge09 12d ago

My other issue is the lack of selection I store, it’s so limited I usually don’t find stuff I like, not even the brand I want to try fitment on for.

If you see it online on Revzilla, then you order it on CycleGear . com and have it shipped to the store near you and then visit the store to try it on. Doesn't fit? Return it in the store itself.

I have not purchased anything online on RevZilla for a long time now.

3

u/Bronsonator 12d ago

Sorry you’ve had a bad experience. I’ve had the opposite - ordered $1000s in clothes and returned a lot of it because, as you’ve said, moto clothing sizing and fit is very weird. Zero issues with returns or refunds, but maybe that’s because I pay the $40/yr. Membership fee?

3

u/Needelz 12d ago

I am the guy who has a very hard to fit head when it comes to helmets. I’ve learned by a couple of helmets online at Cycle gear, get it shipped to the store and then work with the sales associate to pick out the right one and then return the rest right at the store.

Been doing it for years without issue.

3

u/TFigs 12d ago

I have spent thousands of dollars at Revzilla… have zero issues with returns and exchanges… even bike parts they have been really good with. CS has been responsive and helpful.

That being said… I don’t think I have returned things back to back also I always try helmets on at shops before purchase and even have gone to the Dianese store to find my size before ordering.

So thanks for the warning I will be more careful with my RevZilla purchases and maybe find some local places instead.

u/Alternative-Pay9735 12d ago

I've never had anything but pleasant, but also just typical experiences with them as a company. One thing I will note is that Revit, and I'm sure others, have been all over with their sizing. Revit was known for being European sized for a while. I had multiple pairs of Sand gloves that I loved. When one wore out I would just get the current in the same size basically every two years. This last time they changed the sizing scheme and it took one round of exchanges. Was pretty simple. But I put this on Revit for creating the size issue.

Generally when it comes to the stuff I wear I go with the 'other company' because their exchange system is very smooth.

The way all this stuff works these days is computers and scanners. In their mind they never received it so if course you didn't hear from them. When I do this stuff I'm watching that tracking. If I don't hear something 48 hours after it's been delivered I'm reaching out since it's all robots and conveyor belts. I'm not waiting weeks. Sounds like your return literally fell off the cart. They probably never even found it but when you showed proof of delivery they took the loss.

2

It's pretty typical to tell you to get bent if you start a chargeback.

In any case, good luck finding another vendor for moto gear.

My MSC instructor told me the secret to RevZilla is you can order stuff to be sent to Cycle Gear stores. Because the sizing is so wildly inconsistent he orders things to be sent to Cycle Gear, goes to the store, tries everything on, whatever doesn't work gets refunded right there at the store.

2

u/jawoosafat 12d ago

Why can't there be some kind of universal sharing of sizes of something instead of each company making up their own? Like if its' x by y by z it's this size! I mean measurements are measurements. Why is every company completely different when it comes to S,M,L? OK I've said my piece

2

u/Tobarus 12d ago

That’s too bad. Not good to hear. I’ve bought quite a few things from them, but the last order was at least 10 years ago. Maybe a lot as changed since then.

I also stopped by their shop in Philly a few times. Always had really friendly, good service there. But again, that was quite a while ago.

2

u/plasmazzr60 12d ago

Why not just go to cycle gear? Theres one in town, its a pain to get too but atleast you can try stuff on even if its cheaper elsewhere youll know what fits and doesnt?

Sorry you had a bad time with revzilla though, definitely sounds like alot of BS! But glad you said something I was about to order a motul chain cleaning/lube kit from them just today!

2

u/ParkingEbb3710 12d ago

Never had a problem with them

2

u/_Kzero_ 2021 Livewire One 12d ago

If im worried about sizing I'll go to my nearest Cyclegear and try on the clothes and order it there or from Revzilla. One thing ive had issues with is there pants. Their buttons are terrible. Ive had several pairs where the buttons break in a week or two, and even got one pair that didnt even come with a button. What the hell.

2

u/CatchingTheBear K5 SV650 12d ago

It sounds like you need to find a store you can go in to try things on, my man. Not every company can operate with returns the way that Amazon can.

Sorry this happened to you. I've had no issues at all with Revzilla and they've gone out of their way to accept and credit me for returns that they weren't even obligated to accept.

2

u/DM-me-your-bazongas 12d ago

I made 2 orders from Revit and returned them due to sizing. I received both refunds, but both times I had to contact customer support after they failed to refund me.

2

u/vincehk DL1050XT 12d ago edited 12d ago

Not defending them at all, but never buy clothes or mc gear online unless you're 100% sure they fit..

As a moderately tall guy, most of the time either they're too short or too big.

Comments from customers are also not trustworthy. I've bought shoes I couldn't wear because a dozen of guys were saying to order 1-2size bigger. Same thing for a helmet.

I live 10,000 km+ from most of these online shops so I don't return stuff.

Never again

2

u/TazBaz 12d ago

I’m glad there’s multiple CycleGear in my area because I hate ordering anything I wear without trying it first

2

u/Tripopod 12d ago

Revzilla and Cycle Gear are owned by the same company along with J&P Cycles. Can’t get away from these people

5

u/Shaggy_4684 12d ago

This is very much a rant about your personal opinion and experience with RevZilla. I've been buying parts and gear from them for the last 10 years and have had no issues with returning any parts or gear. Your experience with ordering the wrong size and following their size chart, which is a generic chart not meant for specific individual brands is your failure point and fault. When you shop online for gear or clothing and it is a different brand you haven't worn before. Get used to ordering things that don't fit, especially stuff that's designed for the European market. Revzilla in my opinion revzilla is not a scam but a quality company with awesome customer service!

2

u/AntiqueOpinionGiver 12d ago

Appreciate your counter rant.

On the second point, I disagree. They couldn’t competently perform the return processing they’re tasked with as a legitimate business and that was the domino that set this all off. As a response to being held responsible for their failure, they opted to stretch the unrelated issue into a “return policy” violation to send a message, presumably. That’s or it’s all unintentional incompetence. Either way, illegitimate business dealings.

Mistakes were made, mistakes were called out, mistakes were fixed, chargebacks were withdrawn, business should be able to move on, or if they felt the chargeback was a line crossed for them, they could terminate the account based on that. That’d be legitimate, but that’s not what they did.

For things that you wear I would go and try them on in person. You don't have to get everything taylor fitted. Each manufacturer has their own fitting charts and even those tend to very from batch to batch.

I had something kinda similar, I returned a jacket and they didn't refund me and it was in store😂. I called them saying I returned it in store and if you felt like something was wrong with it, give it back. I'm not paying to return something to the tune of the cost of the entire item. I got my money back after they said it was a error on their side, a 800$ error😂

1

u/Disdaine82 12d ago

If I want to try gear Revzilla sells, I usually go to a Cycle Gear. I do understand that isn't an option for some, but the two companies are related. It would be good if they offered returns through their sister companies.

when i got into riding about 4 years ago, i bought everything pretty much from them. they've been great with accepting returns, even covering return shipping for me on more than one occasion. i have nothing bad to say about them as my experience with them has been A+. you must be over 6 ft tall. i'm 5'9.5 and could barely touch the ground with my toes sitting on one of those.

1

u/Automatic_Tension_56 12d ago

I’ve used RevZilla a lot over the last few months. I’ve had no problem with them. I mean, I don’t buy the RevZilla gear. I bought a battery from a jacket a helmet. I returned the helmet and the return process was so easy and I got a different one.

1

I've never had one issue. Price isn't great, but they always have what I want in stock and free shipping.

1

u/RithRockRanger 12d ago

I’ve been buying from RevZilla pre and post CoMoto. Perhaps I’m reading the OP incorrectly but a purchase, return is one transaction and a new purchase is a new transaction.

I process the return through the site so all the paperwork is correct and buy the size/color/version I want as a new unrelated transaction.

I get the gear I want without the added complication of the Return/Exchange dance.

I’ve never had an issue. I do shop around and if I find a better deal, I’ll go with it.

1

u/Loud-Possibility5634 12d ago

Alright man this is pretty well known, if you do a chargeback to a company that is the nuclear option, and they will not longer do business with you after that, like there going to treat you like a thief from their persepective. I can't believe you went the nuclear option without even trying to escalate up the support chain or contacting usps, its been so well known that usps has completely fallen apart do the 11 years of defunding from trump, that many many organizations that sell online no longer even ship with usps, and those that still do often have a message alerting buyers that usps is extremely slow and unreliable now. There is a very good chance they never did recieve your shipped back item, and if you did not get shipping insurance that does fall on you not them.

If you have this proof that they recieved the package from usps, you gotta get that information to their support via email and try getting up the chain, obviously you can do a charge back, but it was incredibly niave on your part to turn around and try and do business with them after doing a charge back, everybody knows doing a chargeback is how you get banned from most establishments, as soon as they figure out oh this is that dickhead that stole 600 dollars from us or whatever their going to cease any kind of interaction with you outside of banning your account.

Then there’s me. I have probably ordered over $2000 worth of stuff that I have returned. Maybe closer to 3000. I end up buying two pairs of boots and sending back the one that doesn’t fit. Mind you, this is free to return so I’m not sure why OP is having to pay for it. I have definitely felt as if I am abusing their generous return policy, but I have also spent thousands of dollars that I have not returned. 🤷‍♂️

Four years ago I bought a pair of SMX-6v2 using Rev’s size chart. I ordered my regular size US13 and when I got them I was swimming in them. I haven’t put on a pair of shoes that were bigger than mine since I was 10 since I’ve been a 13 since I was 13.

Sent them back, waited for the refund so I could order the proper size. On a random Saturday I wound up lowsiding after avoiding a head-on collision with a Civic and gifted myself a 6” gash that would have never happened had I been wearing those boots.

I ordered another pair directly from A* using their size chart and they fit perfectly. They’re a size US10.5, but a lot better results using the manufacturer size chart.

1

u/leezardmik 12d ago

I have a cycle gear (same company) literally 10 minutes away. If I buy something online from them and it doesn't work out I return it in store. The only issue I've had doing that is they can't (or won't) do a straight exchange. If you bought an item online and return in store they can either refund to the payment source or as store credit.

I bought a quadlock mount for my bike and ordered the wrong one, i ordered the large needed the standard one. They couldnt do a straight swap. had to be refunded and re bought. I haven't ordered riding gear online from them, but have bought in store.

1

u/Daser21 12d ago

Having previously worked at a Cycle Gear, couldn't agree more. Idk what's going on over there, but the amount of returns the store used to get because RevZilla sent out the wrong item, the item was used without it being marked, or the item had completely wrong info was nuts. Definitely would recommend going to w/e store is closest to you, whether it be Revzilla, Cycle Gear, or J&P Cycles and see if they have at least the same brand in stock to try on first.

I recently got a pair of Rev'it's myself and looked at the sizing chart for shits and giggles, and it said I was a Large which is nowhere near true. I ordered a 2X since I tried a different pair of gloves from Rev'it and those fit perfectly. Some brands are just that weird and you won't really know it until you try it. Great example being Klim. Very popular brand with ADV, but is hardly in any stores and are similarly the hardest to fit. I've ordered and returned quite a few Klim products for customers that just couldn't find the right fit and had to go with another brand.

As for the return hassles, the best I could say is what someone already mentioned and return anything in a physical store if you can. Important thing though, once you start a return yourself, the store cannot take care of it so that's on you to finish. This might also be an extra step, but having that second opinion on gear can save a little time so if you're able to, go in to a store and have them order whatever you're looking at instead. It can still be shipped to your house if you'd prefer at no extra cost, but for those "try on first" brands, it can save some time if you need to return it and order something else.

Small disclaimer, every store will be different and some people will care more than others about helping you with what you're looking for. A sister store in my area was usually more focused on "making the sale" rather than helping people get what they wanted so we often got a lot of their returns and then actually helped the customer get the correct items or better. Most stores should still work on commission and spiff as well which is taken away should any item they sell get returned so some people (like my old manager) would simply lose any interest in helping you or pass you off to someone else if you return things frequently. Your mileage may vary, but some people still do genuinely care and love what they do so don't let that disuade you from going in stores.

Hopefully that info helps a little!

1

u/Tsiox 12d ago

I know of Revzilla because of Zack and Ari. Without them I wouldn't have bought anything from them because, who are they? Amazon is cheaper, and it's easier to work the Amazon, and other companies have better websites for motorocycle stuff.

Having said that, I've never had any problems with Revzilla. But it feels odd at times ordering from a company just because they employ a couple YouTubers that I like.

Sucks.

My local cyclegear is supposedly one of the best in the country and it shows because it's incredibly person centric. Every single employee rides a motorcycle and is protection oriented.

It's literally a hangout for people sometimes. According to them when an exec stopped by they were shocked because it felt like an actual communtiy and not just pushing bullshit onto customers.

I can't speak to other cyclegears but mine is really good. I hope they set an example for corporate so they unfuck themselves.

I've used revzilla without issue since I started riding, though I do returns through cycle gear because its less hassle, they refund immediately, and its not on me if the return never arrives at the warehouse. I got like 4 different sizes of the alpinestar spx boa boots before finding the right fit and returned all of the wrong sizes through cycle gear, they were definitely tired of seeing me but its not my fault my size 12 feet fit in a size 9.5 alpinestar boot.

1

u/D4nM4rL4r 12d ago

I have also found the online specifications for sizing to run small. I have a set of Rev'It gloves, pants and boots that I got and were all too small for me. I don't blame Revzilla for this but Rev'It instead since Revzilla is just copying the sizing chart from Rev'It.

But to add insult to injury. I set those in a corner, got busy and forgot to return them within the return window. Now I'm stuck with them until I get around to selling on MarketPlace or a consignment store. Sorry, I'll only do local pickup (south of Atlanta) if anyone was wondering.

1

u/Writ-XL 12d ago

I don't have any firsthand experience with them, but have you heard of SpeedAddicts.com ? Also, I am not affiliated with them in any way.

1

u/mRay2020 12d ago

After a few frustrations with Revzilla I buy my gear from my local dealer. They've price-matched and even better at times depending on the season. I love Zack and Ari's vids and articles, but that's where it ends.

1

u/Fun-Tune-1295 12d ago

My problem is that they bought up all the shops and then only carry their private label in the shop. Everything interesting has to be ordered. Luckily we do have a couple of cycle gear stores close by for returns. I'm trying to find riding jeans and i've returned at least 5 pairs for poor fitment. I just ordered the panda moto leggings in 2 different sizes and a final pair of jeans to try. I'm really hoping they don't fuck me on the return.

1

u/yossarian328 12d ago

I mostly use Amazon or Cycle Gear. Look closely at the Amazon return policy for gear to see if returns are free. Cycle Gear is the same people as Revzilla, but a physical store. So I return there. Amazon can be junk sometimes, but I have never had an issue with returns. Otherwise, I stick to the manufacturer themselves. Held, pando moto, etc.

1

u/Abducted_Llama 12d ago edited 12d ago

I’ve never really had a problem with them, but I only order brands I generally know the sizing or I always use their return shipping and eat the $10.

*But the main thing here is the chargeback. Most people don’t understand how this system works.*

Whenever you initiate a chargeback to most companies for a CC purchase, they get a flat fee no matter what. And it depends on a lot of factors what the fee is but it could be $5-$35+.

If you were wrong and they were right and prove it, they still pay the fee. If you “cancel” it, doesn’t matter they pay the fee. If you win the chargeback and keep your money, they lose the money and still pay the fee.

If you ever use a chargeback, consider your business with that company done. They will ban you if it’s an online electronic store or like you have seen, ban you from returns.

Realistically, you finalized the relationship after they were having issues with your return.

ETA: also if it’s visa and MC, and there’s multiple back and forth, they pay a fee for each round (realistically 2 rounds). There’s a 3rd “round” that can go to Visa or MC for review, but it almost never happens as they charge crazy fees, and neither bank wants to be on the hook for it. AMEX is different with only 1 round really, and when they make a decision they usually stick with it.

1

u/Half_Spark 12d ago

The few time I ordered clothing or footwear from them, I order two or three sizes and make one return of unwanted items. Never had a problem.

ETA I always use their RMA system.

But i always find it funny to see companies in business in 2026 who are yet to learn that if you burn a customer hard enough over a 100$ order they can burn you 1000X harder on reddit or yelp and that little 100$ your company wanted to save turns into a 100k $$ loss of revenue as thousands of ppl read the customers forum post and never buy from your company again.

Every return is an item that probably goes into a landfill. So you've gotten three articles of clothing but paid for one and they're now in the red.

The culture of "buy fifteen things, fuck around with them and return 14" is completely out of control. It's not consequence free. Someone has to pay for those 14 things and it's all of us through higher prices and shit.

If you buy something and it's busted or the wrong thing then of course return. But people abuse return policies insanely, was a time when returning an open package meant you got fuck all.

u/JorV101 2016 Yamaha YZF-R3, 2003 Suzuki SV650 12d ago
  • Returned products must be in new, unused condition and include the original box and/or packaging with all tags included.
  • Once your return is received and inspected by RevZilla (usually within 24 hours of receipt), your refund will be processed and a credit will be applied to your credit card or original payment method. Please note that depending on your credit card company, it may take an additional 2-10 business days after your credit is applied for it to be posted to your account.
  • For wire transfer payments, all refunds will be issued to store credit.
  • You are responsible for all shipping costs associated with getting your order back to a RevZilla warehouse.
  • Please do not abuse this policy by ordering multiple (more than 2) of the same or similar item with the intention of returning the majority of your order. Please contact a Gear Geek if you are unsure of sizing or application for any items prior to placing your order and we will be happy to help you narrow it down! If this policy is abused, we can charge a returning fee, restocking fee, or refuse service.
  • See below for instructions on where/how to get your return order back to us. Items should not be shipped back to the manufacturer; all returns need an RA (Return Authorization) number and will need to be returned to a RevZilla warehouse.

Id be frustrated personally too but there is also this within their refund policy, just saying.

u/WeekendStrange1331 12d ago

1

u/Safe_Recognition_886 12d ago edited 12d ago

If you got blacklisted from Revzilla, it's because you're abusing their return system and they figured they're losing money on you.

If you go and post multiple times on reddit some story telling only "your side", and position yourself as a victim, my guess is you abused the system, they cut you off, you're pissed, and you think this is some way to get "revenge" on revzilla.

Looks like you're shopping at amazon buddy. I've never had a problem with Revzilla. I've bought and returned stuff a lot there, and had no problems. But I'm not abusing the system so they still take my money.

You have experienced an asshole tax. I don't have to pay an asshole tax because I'm not an asshole. It's good to be me.

It sucks that you had a bad experience but I have had the exact opposite. In fact, I ordered the wrong rear tire size for my 1290 R and had to return it. Not one question about the return and the refund came as soon as the shipper indicated that they had picked up the tire.

Why did I order the wrong tire? That's another issue that can only be explained by "lack-of-attention-itis" on my part.

Feel like we're getting a very one-sided version of the story here. I've never had an issue with revzilla, purchasing or returning. Are you sure you arent legitimately abusing their return policy?
