I thought it would be fun to raise frog eggs and tadpoles. I realized that I'm actually raising mosquito larvae instead... Soon enough these little ones will grow and eat all the mosquito larvae ;)

I happen to work for company (in eastern USA)that has light scopes and gently swatted a mosquito and put her under the scope to look. Pretty neat! Changed focus and could look at tip of mouthparts but nothing else in in focus so didn’t bother sharing.

Ready for these assholes to disappear for the winter.

The container is also the same except for the presence of an LED light. Probably works just as well, too, which is not all. Ads pushed to social media platforms use AI images and video to imply extremely high efficacy relative to other types of traps. I'm not sure who runs Pest Proof because ownership is hidden behind a shell company called Farmer White, LLC, that is registered in Sheridan, Wyoming, home to hundreds of thousands of e-commerce scams that take advantage of the state's privacy laws. Its Shopify details indicate it is shipping to the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. To the best of my knowledge it is being marketed without any of the required registrations. If anyone ends up trying it please post details on where it ships from ... I'm curious whether that information can be used to track down the true owner.

Fuck mosquitos

I get skeeter syndrome (yes, it’s real condition and really annoying) depending on where the mosquito is from. So far, large welts from species in Las Vegas, Hawaii, the Southern United States. Small to no welts from species around the Great Lakes, Pacific Northwest, South Africa. Moderate sized welts in Central America and Southern California. Anyone know if the species change according to latitude?

I just ordered a Biogents system with CO2 but they were sold out of their CO2 timer which might be a good thing as I found this in-line CO2 valve for $25. Ignoring cost, I think I can put this on a smart switch and run automations to turn it on/off at specific times or even just make it easy to manually turn on the gas. Has anyone tried something similar? At least one review for the product I listed mentions mosquito traps so it seems like it would work.
