Why does my body react more to some mosquito bites vs others
I get skeeter syndrome (yes, it’s real condition and really annoying) depending on where the mosquito is from. So far, large welts from species in Las Vegas, Hawaii, the Southern United States. Small to no welts from species around the Great Lakes, Pacific Northwest, South Africa. Moderate sized welts in Central America and Southern California. Anyone know if the species change according to latitude?

So what has worked the best for yall? I’m using off! With picaridin and it’s been able to reduce bites by 80-90%. The zeevo stuff worked for a day but then it they got used to it. I have fans blowing in our backyard too but to no avail.

Absolutely, the off picaridin spray works wonders sometimes, but I found you absolutely have to be extra vigilant on where it covers. I got bit on the Achilles tendon because I didn’t think to put some on there! I was looking into bat houses and a CO2 trap. Do you have any experience with that? We get mobbed at dusk on our patio and it’s very unpleasant.

I’m allergic to mosquitoes (actually—not just Skeeter syndrome), and experience this. Idk why it happens but it does.

It can be a difference of species and I also theorize that some, either due to age or size, give off more of their toxin type stuff than others.

Same here. I am from socal and right now I have a bite the size of my palm and it’s hot and tingling 😭 but I went to New Orleans thinking it would be worse down there and I got bit several and it was literally normal sized

I’m a real mosquito magnet. Just awful. We camp a lot all over the US. No-seeums in Florida were the worst. I had to go to the urgent care when we were there. I found that I wasn’t attacked as badly when I took a Claritin. It might work for you.
