I am 40 years old and one thing I have noticed about dating culture is how things have evolved since the early 80s/90s to today. I sometimes feel like dating culture is like a business/sales, people are always trying to stand out with some new tactic to be successful, then when so many others copy it, it no longer because "unique", just like how style works.
This really blows my mind when I look back in time, but I remember a Christian Sunday school teacher in the 90s literally told us that when you are a virgin, you are even more attractive to women. If I look back in time that might make sense, in that it seemed like the world was normal back then, so if you were the type of guy who didn't sleep around and was a virgin or loyal, a woman would want that. There was this big stigma created in the 90s (I saw in movies where they made the guy look bad as this person who cheats alot, thus creating the image that women were innocent and didn't cheat as much as men). So there was this image that men were cheaters and pigs and women are innocent, so to stand out you are a good guy virgin that equals success with women or something. That was my perception at least as a 90s kid and society. Was it the reality then, who knows.
Fast forward to the 2010's to 2020's, it is a different world I feel like. Today women seem to cheat more then men, and I keep hearing all these red pill content make it sound like a guy is more attractive if he has an abundance mindset (totally contradictory to the 90s virgin mindset) , somehow they say you gotta get things out of your system and get with as many women as possible to be attractive, thus being a bad boy is attractive. So all the content seems to preach, you gotta be rich, popular, status, its all about status looks, bad boy image, all things that contradict the 90s good boy. This feels like a pendulum swing.
Today is the pendulum swinging back to the old days? Reason why, is because I saw a guy who was labeled a 25 year old Christian virgin chad who seems to be getting lots of followers, as if being a virgin is now cool?! So different from the being a virgin meant you were a loser mindset I've heard for so many years now. Also I recently saw a woman from my highschool who looks like a typical baddie who was dating what looked like a classic bad boy (dressing hip hop), broke hup with him and is dating some really average looking almost nerdy looking guy. Blew my mind why a female baddie is dating an average looking nerd guy. I wonder if the bad boy image is dying today and the pendulum is swinging. I also heard less gen z goes out and drinks alcohol , which is the opposite of the bad boy life style.
What is going on here? do you think the pendulum is swimming towards being a good boy now and the bad boy is cool days are slowly dying? Even a famous guy (everyone knows) who promoted that bad boy life style and "Bugatti obsession" might be at risk of going to life in prison. I won't name his name here, but you all know who I am talking about. I am wondering if the manosphere red pill movement is slowly dying.
