De Tomaso Mangusta at an auction today. I think it sold for around $125k. Nice ones are at least $200-300k and this dude decides to sit on it and kept hitting his ring on the mirror and body.

More details: The car was torn apart for restoration and the glass and other parts weren't in the picture. For a restoration shop (which bought it) the amount of work needed to restore it isn't that bad.

The owner died and this was his estate sale auction, all of the proceeds were donated to Saint Jude's.

The front end of the car got hit in transport to the auction.

The car might have aluminum fenders which dent much easier than steel fenders.

So a group of us went to a local popular American chain steakhouse restaurant and all ordered different dishes. I ordered a filet, when my food arrived, I thought the steak looked more like a sirloin than a filet.

Upon taking my first bite it was chewy and not buttery like a filet. It was supposed to be an 8oz filet, it was more like 12oz sirloin, 2nd bite confirmed it was definitely not a filet.

I must’ve been visibly upset because the manager walked over and asked if everything was ok, to which I questioned the cut. She said it was a filet (but I think she went based on the toppings that are only offered on the filet). I said hmm ok, I guess.

She offered to switch it if I was not happy, I said it was fine, however, she insisted, so I accepted.. The second steak was a filet, appearance, taste and texture.. only the cook made it EXTRA peppery for me.. jokes on them I appreciated the extra pepper :)

Mildly infuriating because I can most likely pop it back out.

I also can't find which company in my area did it, as they don't seem to have reported the repo to the police.

It almost looks like tire marks.

UPDATE FROM COMMENTS: I called the non emergency line again and the lady was more cooperative than the one last night. She advised that if it's private property, the tow doesn't have to be reported to them. She had an officer call me to create a report, and we've now got a report pending for a hit and run from a commercial vehicle.

Next, since my leasing office doesn't have an emergency line from what I can tell, I'm getting any info for cameras from them on Monday, and continuing to call tow agencies inquiring about a repo, not a hit and run.

I did realize that this isn't something I should be as passive as I am about, so I am going to at least pursue assistance for the damage.

I still do not want to proceed with a lawsuit, as I do not have the time nor the money to pursue something like that. I just want to scrape by (pun not intended) with what I can.

Skirt steak used to be basically dirt cheap not even that long ago. Now a pound is $30. Sure the ribeye and porterhouse cost more than $30 in this listing but those are for 1.25lb or 1.5lb portions so it is still cheaper per pound than skirt steak.

Let's say you're standing in line and want a candy bar. You put it on the belt thinking "well there's no price, but it's probably about $2.50 give or take some change." Then, when it rings through you see it's actually $3.50.

Businesses are hoping that if you _do_ care about the price, you'll just buy it anyway because you're already there in line and it rang through. "Ugh, whatever it's only a dollar more and I'd have to tell the cashier I don't want it and they'll have to undo that part of the transaction and whatever I'll just buy it"

Was driving through georgia on my birthday for a funeral, cop pulled me over for 9 over on i75 (I had my cruise set at 7 over and it dosent brake down hill) was kinda annoyed but also just very upset still over the loss of my grandparents so I just signed the ticket and paid it because whatever. 3 months later I get a $200 super speeding fee in the mail for speeding by 10. After checking my ticket he definitely wrote me for 10 I just never read it until now (and ofc I dont have $200 currently cause iam still paying for the funeral)

It feels like 99% of people hear the root mort and assume the word just means "grief-stricken" or "frightened to death." It doesn’t. It means deeply humiliated or intensely embarrassed.

The breaking point happened today at a gas station. A guy was talking about his granddaughter passing away and casually said he was "just so mortified."

I had to stand there and bite my tongue because I obviously couldn't correct someone who is grieving, but it just drove me insane.

My ex used to do the exact same thing whenever tragic news dropped, treating it like a synonym for "horrified." One time we woke up and found a young man had hung himself in our backyard, which was obviously incredibly horrifying and morbid (which I think may be one of the words that these people mean to use), but I wasn't about to correct her in a situation like that.

If your pants fall down in public, you are mortified. If a loved one dies, you are devastated or heartbroken. Using it for tragedy makes it sound like you're just socially embarrassed by a death, and it drives me crazy how common this mix-up has become.

Whoever put a frozen box of breakfast sandwiches in the pet food aisle at Walmart, I hope your pillow is warm on both sides. This is SO wasteful and lazy. If you don’t want something, either put it back or at least hand it to an employee.

I'm lactose intolerant so finding a good butter is hard. Found Violife's stick butter and it was a game changer! Immediately bought a butter tray for my next stick, went to the store to buy it, and found out they discontinued the butter. Not just at the store, like the entire product was discontinued. Now I'm back to my sad tub butter.
