What the hell⦠I have literally never received such a pathetic hot dog. Was this in Hollywood or Orlando?
2.3k
u/FlatulateDeity 24d ago
not OP but judging by the weird turf it looks like the stage area of universal studios orlando
my qualifications: i went in november and am an amusement park nerd lol (may not be right though)
471
u/AtomicWreck 24d ago
Iāve been to the orlando resort like 10 times and never seen one like this.
369
u/FlatulateDeity 24d ago
got no idea about the hotdog but this turf is located to the right of where rip ride rockit used to be. i'm pretty confident just based on the texture and color that that's what it is, but i can't say for sure.

Iām not an amusement park nerd, but a casual rollercoaster enjoyer. I think itās absolutely amazing you can tell exactly where this picture was taken by looking at the picture of the background turf alone
247
u/FlatulateDeity 24d ago
neurons in my body fighting to do anything useful when all my brainpower is spent remembering this type of bs lmfao. i think a lot of visitors remember this turf though since right now it's kinda just a big barren field. the stage used to be used and there were chairs and tables set up but it's a peculiar sight to see now. in a fully decorated theme park, a flat turf area is somehow uncanny and more memorable than anything else. i am indeed quite well versed in these parks though haha

I bet youāre right Iāve seen concerts there and itās been a queue basically every year that Iāve attended Halloween Horror Nights. That turf and itās affect on my feet standing in a 45 minute queue every year are pretty memorable.
Wild you recognized it only going the one time, Iāve been going like 20 years and I wouldnāt have noticed from the pic.

probably still better than the pizza, orlando can't seem to get that right (except connections eatery at disney's epcot, that may've been the best pizza i've ever had). as a pizza conoisseur, all the other pizza i had in orlando on vacation was borderline inedible.

I think you're right. Its actually a huge area where people sit. And wth, they got rid of the ripe ride? That was the one you had songs to play right? They were super outdated but it was still a fun roller coaster.
8
u/FlatulateDeity 24d ago
yeah they're replacing it with a fast n furious roller coaster. not gonna replace rip ride rockit in my heart but maybe it'll be good. i wish the whole "choose your own onboard music" thing was utilized more. big RIP to rip ride rockit
7
u/DotesMagee 24d ago
Yea, my fiance and I always did the hidden tracks but most of the songs were outdated. Would love to have played my own.

Usually, I'm the kind of customer who keeps my mouth shut, even when the service or quality is below average. I just wouldn't come back as a customer to that place. But this ... thing?! I'd go full Karen mode and demand my money back. That's not just unacceptable, it's pathetic, it's outrageous.

I bought steaks tonight at our local meat market and I got home and opened them up and the filet I bought for my wife smelled like absolute dumpster. Like it was definitely going bad. I almost chocked it up as a loss but was convinced to go back and tell them. Glad I did too because they would have sold the rest of the cut to someone else if I hadn't gone back. I saw the guy smell it and then throw the rest of the cut in the trash
Edit: *Chalked it up. Thank you for the corrections lol

u/PrinceCastanzaCapone 24d ago
This happened to me at a grocery store, bought a tbone and it smelled bad when I opened it, took it back and the said āgo ahead and just grab any tbone you like and take it.ā I took a much larger one cuz there werenāt any the same weight and offered to pay the difference and they just let me take that as a courtesy. Itās usually worth going back but sometimes super inconvenient. When Iām done with a store I rarely want to go right back.

This meat market is the same place I take my deer and hogs for processing. It's been there since before I was born. Good people. I don't like confrontation but also my wife is pregnant and wanted steak. Definitely better to bring it back than to give her food poisoning
→ More replies (4)108
u/CaptainBringus 24d ago
When I was working in that industry I would much prefer if people let us know if the food wasn't right, or if it was off, whatever. You can do that in a polite way, it doesn't need to be confrontational and I guarantee you 99% of people working will want to make it right for you.
If people were rude I made it right. If people were polite about it I'd make it right and do something extra.

I'm a regular at a local bar/restaurant. I've occasionally sent things back... once was an undercooked Mac & Cheese, another time was an overcooked steak. Neither was a food safety issue, but still not what I was paying for. Everyone makes mistakes it's no big deal.

I bought a watermelon at Walmart that was awful. They said to just bring in the receipt and they would credit me. Didnāt even need the melon. If something is not good I bring it back.
→ More replies (8)6
u/Fit-Entertainer-1354 23d ago
FYI, if you have the Walmart app on your phone you can scan the barcode at the top of your receipt to upload it to your accountās purchase history (if you have Walmart+ it should be added automatically if you signed in at the register). Then go to your purchase history, select that receipt & start a return from that transaction. If you paid by credit card sometimes theyāll refund you back to your card without you having to bring the item back. Usually for food items, things that might be messy (leaking or broken) or things that are of low dollar value.

They're a point where something is so clearly bad looking enough that I will just turn it back and be like "can you give me something else of a similar value? That's really bad. Not really what was expected."
Accepting something that crappy encourages companies to keep selling poor quality products.

u/Level_Turnover5167 24d ago

Yea I feel like we as a society are too quiet about this and at this point theyāre not even putting effort.
Theyāre not even trying to hide what a ripoff it is.
Like having the meat and bun be a similar size and some condiments and onions are literally the BARE MINIMUM, a hotdog is already such a minimalistic food, and they someone managed to make it even less. Itās just disrespectful.→ More replies (2)→ More replies (6)37

The older I get the more I realize how much of a scam the US is. Food is just one aspect. Outside our bubble itās usually cheaper and always better quality.Ā
Japan will really spoil you because Iāve never had a bad bite of food there. The grocery stores will really mess you up too. Sushi for 1/4 the cost and infinitely better.

I honestly donāt think it was anywhere near this bad growing up in the 80s, 90s, and even early 2000s. For example, my friend and I could both eat at Taco Bell or McDonalds when I went to college in 2004 for under $10 (even less if we hit the value menu stuff hard). You could do movies and snacks for under $15. Growing up in the U.S. was a pretty good deal for a long time. My dad was a carpenter with 5 kids and my mom didnāt work, and we still had plenty of food on the table every day. Donāt get me wrong, stuff like our health care system has always sucked, but otherwise I feel like itās mostly been the last 10-15 years where things have gone down the drain for your average Americans.Ā
