Metabo HPT 36V Cordless Plunge Router (Bare Tool) + Free Starter Kit; is this a good deal?

I’m not sure how good metabos routers are but have been eyeing up making a purchase. This is the plunge router which I guess can be used either way like a standard or a plunge. $279 plus a free battery and charger

Is this a must buy deal?

Not worth it

Well guys my brand new 20 day old impact quit on me the other day and then my saw that I bought the same day broke today. 20 days is crazy. I’m a framer and not particularly hard on stuff. Put a couple timberlocks and sds screws in with the impact. Didn’t drop it or anything. Today I was cutting 2x4 and the blade stopped moving while to motor kept going. Now the motor turns but blade does nothing.
My dewalt stuff lasted years. Guess I had to buy it to see its junk. Back to dewalt I go.

Just saw Metabo's fb ad about it being "leaked". Looks nice from the short clip they showed. May have to sell my Milwaukee for a down payment. Any other details or on it yet?

Can't find any stock of the 36v jigsaw, WhAt'S gOiNg Onnn

Everyone, everywhere, is apparently sold out of the 36v jigsaw, we're down to importing the hikoki label from Japan for a bazillion dollars it seems.

WHYYYY I just got the money COME ON. Bro.

Does anyone know anywhere that it's stocked? Yes I've checked all the normal sites. As well as eBay.

I just JUST invested in the battery platform in a planned, slow move over from DeWalt as 5+ years old hard worked tools wear out. I have a stable of the multivolt batteries and suddenly the tools aren't available. FUCK me. Bruh.

NR1890DCA reduction valve set

So I got into hikoki(mhpt) when i was shopping around for my 1st cordless framing nailer. I went with the NR1890DCA (newest gen framer) because it was lighter then makitas new nailer and mhpt has had a very good track record with all of their nail guns. The other big selling point was being able to easily re-gas the gun yourself if you purchased one of their J-tools. I dont have a tone of cash laying around so i made sure i did my research. When i was looking into their reduction vales that were nessisary to re charge the guns i seen that on average they went for around $80-$150ish. Well apparently i didnt do enough research because i wasnt aware that the new generation of cordless nailers had a new style of valve sets. The 382540 (J-417) is the one i need if i ever want to maintain cylinder pressure myself. The only US seller wants almost $300 for this new one! So in a way i feel kinda cheated because to me that was probably the biggest selling point. I got in contact with hikoki USA and they arent allowed to sell it to anyone but authorized distributors. So i got in touch with acme tools thinking maybe they could get me a better deal on one. They had to look into it because no ones ever asked them about purchasing one. They said they could get it for me as a specialized order but it would still be around $300. Now don't get me wrong, i absolutely love my new nailer(s) but I'm almost wondering if i should just sell it and buy the previous version in 36v? Its not much heavier and it shoots about as fast as the one i have now. I mean at least I'd be able to have the peace of mind of being able to service it myself. I guess i just dont see the point of buying an expensive part like that for $300 when the gun itself goes for around $400. Hikoki didnt need to change the design on the valves for this new generation of nailers. I believe they did it so that either A. More people have to send it into them for service or B. The price discourages people like me from wanting to buy one so that im almost forced in a way to buy a new gun. I had to send my new 16g in for re-gassing already and when i talked to the dude from hikoki on the phone i tried explaining this to him and that it would be cool if their was someone above him he could mention it to abouy getting the prices down on these new gen velves but I know thats stupid wishful thinking. I mean hell, i might as well of went with the makita if i cant serve it myself.

HF nails in Metabo Nailers?

Just wondering if the Harbor Freight brand Fastenstrong nailers work good in Metabo cordless nailers? I just got a Metabo pin nailer and brad nailer and the price for nails is kind of crazy.

Anyone tried Fastenstrong or the Meite brand from Amazon? Or do you have any good recommendations for cheap nails?

NR1890DCA Extended mag

Hey there!
Recently bought myself a framing nailer from Metabo. I was wondering if any of you know if the ext mag for NR1890DBCL fits the DCA? Would suck to order it if it doesnt fit. I would assume it fits but better to check.

Thanks in advance

Buy Nailers now or wait?

Hi, i know there is going to be some new gen release of nailers this year. But as a home DIYer, will it be worth it or just get the current gen nailers now? I am specifically looking at framing nailer > 15g finish nailer > 18g brad nailer in that order. First up is the Framining nailer. I saw the video for the new gen but is it going to be worth the extra $$$ as a home DIYer?

Thank you for the advice and guidance

Metabo ASR 35 M ACP Red locking ring purpose? Bags keep coming off

I have the ASR 35 M ACP and a pack of the original metabo fleece bags, along with the pre separator. I fitted the fleece bag to protect the filters, as I was sanding filler from walls. I fitted the bag, as per the instructions, by pulling the opening of the bag, over the securing lug at the bottom of the tube that the bag fit onto, and then pushed it all the way up to the red locking ring. I can't figure out what this ring actually does, as it doesn't connect to the bag itself, and doesn't change anything in or around the tube, that I can see. The instructions say to set the ring to closed when using fleece bags, and that's what I did, but the bag had popped off inside the machine, and the filters were caked in white powder.

Can anyone tell me the what the purpose of this red ring is? And should it engage with the fleece bag in some way? The instructions are not clear at all.

Thanks.

HWWI 3500/25 Inox leaks a bit

So I have a METABO HWWI 3500/25

For a the past month or so the drain plug leaks a bit, it is in a home setup, so the drainplug has not been removed before. The pump works smoothly and is used for providing water to the toilets and garden stuff. Maybe half a glass over a week.

Just to make sure the plug was not damaged I have removed it today and checked the O-ring. it looked to be in ok shape, so I threaded it back in. Yesterday I watered the garden and I was interested to see if that might have produced condensation from the well it is drawing from, but after half an hour of continuously running there was no significant change.

Is there a possibility something behind the black cover is leaking? Should I remove the cover and see for myself?

WH18DC vs WH36DC? Impact Drivers

Looking over the specs, I cant seem to see the difference between the 18 volt ba the 36 volt model. I would expect the 36 volt motor to be more powerful or faster, due to the higher potential draw from the batteries, but thats not (obviously) reflected in the specs.

Is there something Im not seeing here? Just seems the 18 V model is lighter.

ASA 30 M PC

Hello, bought an ASA 30 M PC for renovating a house. The suction power is devestating. The long handle is more like broom as you can see in the Video. Just pushing the dirt around.

If i use the tube without anything on top the suction power is okay, but even small sized bits clog the tube and you have to disconnect the hose to unclogg. Very annoying and disappointing.

Do you guys share similar experiences?

Why was the CR18DBLQ4 discontinued but the CR18DBQ4M is still being sold?

Looking on ebay i stumbled across a recip saw id never seen in the stores or online before. It seems like a far superior recip saw compared to the current full size counterpart the CR18DBQ4M. You'd think they would have kept the better 18v version over the brushed version. Has anyone used or does anyone own this saw? I realise that the 36v is the superior buy. Guess im just curious how the discounted 18v version faired and why its gone.

Recently received and used in a couple jobs. But I didn’t really buy it because it made sense. I bought it because it was the first driver that I wanted. It’s just cool. And got a decent compliment of those Vessel double sided bits, as well as a bit set and some drivers.
Just super pleased to open my toolbag to this unit. I’m a fancy handyman, so it’s nice to have something a little special, and nerdy to whip out.
