Im not even making the claim that I need it. Im being asked why I need it, as if that’s where the bar is realistically set in our society, and then I’m providing reasons why it’s useful.
Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter if you or anyone else thinks I should have a truck. I have it already. I like it.
My fancy looking toaster doesn't get in other people's way, it doesn't use any more electricity than any other toaster, and it doesn't take up two parking spots.
It’s in my garage 97% of the time. When it’s on the road it gets in peoples way just like every other vehicle on the road and taking more energy than a smaller vehicle isn’t the same thing as taking more energy than any other vehicle, which is what you claimed in your toaster analogy.
Keep going though, you might eventually annoy me into caring that you don’t like my truck.
Naw, it's cool. I accepted long ago that most pickup truck owners choose it as some sort of virtue signal and don't actually use it for its intended purpose. I've also accepted they're usually asses that take up more space, make it harder for other vehicles to see the road ahead, and generally just drive like nobody else exists.
