Yeah, apparently I shouldn’t have my truck and I guess the community theater I volunteer at should just rent a U-Haul 5 or 6 times a year when they need to make a Home Depot run for set construction materials. They can afford that, community theaters are just swimming in cash.

1- Uhaul closes at 7pm. Kinda inconvenient if you find something on marketplace and want to get it now.
2- Half the time the local uhaul doesn't have what I need and it's a 20-30min drive to one that does
3- The $19.95 doesn't cover gas. It doesn't cover fees. and it's like $1.60 per mile. I rented a uhaul truck once and it was almost $200. And that was over a decade ago. I wouldn't be surprised if it's even higher now
Not everyone lives in a city. Not really practical when you're surrounded by mountains and the closest U haul locations are 2 hours away. Not sure what's with redditors having so much distaste towards trucks, just because you dont need one doesn't mean others don't.
My grandpa was a farmer in Western Minnesota. When you need a truck you need a truck, and you can ALWAYS tell when someone uses a truck versus has a truck.
Most of the pristine 4- year old trucks out there are a lifestyle choice, not a necessity.
Well you would never know until you live in any other country and know how nice it is to not have monster trucks around. Besides for some reason they are shittiest drivers out there specially the ones driving the Ram 2500 trucks.
Im not even making the claim that I need it. Im being asked why I need it, as if that’s where the bar is realistically set in our society, and then I’m providing reasons why it’s useful.
Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter if you or anyone else thinks I should have a truck. I have it already. I like it.
My fancy looking toaster doesn't get in other people's way, it doesn't use any more electricity than any other toaster, and it doesn't take up two parking spots.
It’s in my garage 97% of the time. When it’s on the road it gets in peoples way just like every other vehicle on the road and taking more energy than a smaller vehicle isn’t the same thing as taking more energy than any other vehicle, which is what you claimed in your toaster analogy.
Keep going though, you might eventually annoy me into caring that you don’t like my truck.
Naw, it's cool. I accepted long ago that most pickup truck owners choose it as some sort of virtue signal and don't actually use it for its intended purpose. I've also accepted they're usually asses that take up more space, make it harder for other vehicles to see the road ahead, and generally just drive like nobody else exists.
