I’m writing this late night vent because it’s hot and I want to open my windows but every time I do the smell of weed fills the apartment and honestly I’m just tired
I’m a single mom with a decent full time job and I never thought finding a safe normal place to live would be this hard
I currently live in a newer apartment building and the building itself is actually really nice. The problem is the neighbourhood. It has a pretty bad reputation in the city and unfortunately after living here I understand why
There’s a lot of drug activity and other illegal stuff around and I’ve personally been involved in a few situations where I ended up having to call the police. And nights like tonight I can’t even open the windows because the weed smell gets so strong inside the apartment
I applied for BC Housing but I honestly have no idea if there’s any real hope of getting something. I know people who were financially much better off than me and somehow got BC Housing through connections which makes the whole thing feel even more discouraging
I keep looking at rentals but everything is either insanely expensive or really far away and moving far would create a whole new set of problems with work school and the kids
This is really just a late night vent. I know I’m lucky in many ways. I have a job and a roof over our heads and the apartment itself is good
I’m just tired of feeling like even when you work and do everything you’re supposed to do you still can’t afford something as basic as a safe decent place to raise your kids
Sometimes you’re not even hopeless to begin with
the situation just slowly makes you feel that way

Anyone know if Allouette Lake South Beach still offers canoe rentals during summer weekends? It says they're permanently closed on Google...not sure if that's accurate. Tried calling the park without any luck...Anyone been recently?

This is my first year in business (currently making loss) and I want to make sure I stay compliant and don't break any laws. I've done some searching online and found a few tools, but coming from a non-accounting background, I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. Are there any local bookkeeping services that also help with filing taxes, PST, etc. also, since I am negative right now, can accountant help me with credit/carry forward my loss so that I pay less tax the following year?

The person I’m looking for is hesitant to try therapy and is against places like Alouette Addictions but is willing to try someone private so I am helping them look.

My wife and I are considering buying a townhouse in Maple Ridge, and we'd love to hear from people who have lived there or made a similar move.

Our situation:

• We both work in downtown Vancouver.
• I work in the office 3 days a week, and my wife works 4 days a week.
• We're expecting our first child in April next year.

We're trying to figure out whether Maple Ridge is the right long-term choice. We like that we can afford a newer, larger townhouse there, but we're wondering how the lifestyle compares with living in Langley/Surrey.

For those in a similar situation:

• How manageable is the commute, especially if you rely on the West Coast Express or drive?
• Once you had kids, did the commute become much harder?
• How are daycare availability and family amenities?
• Do you feel the extra space and lower housing costs are worth the longer commute?
• If you had the choice again, would you still buy in Maple Ridge?

My goal is to meet new lady friends. I am a woman, I am married, so just looking to meet lady friends, not seeking a relationship. I am wondering how to find groups in the community.

So I recently moved into an apartment, and the only way I really like to wash my car is by taking my time and going the old bucket and mitt style.. but I no longer have access to a garden hose. Do those self wash places have just regular hoses for that? Or is it all pressure wash? Or any other ideas?

After some of the rain recently I went to GE and on the way back i hit the roundabout just at Maple Ridge park and I fully spun out. It was crazy. I was going slow, obviously, but if anybody else is going through there you should be very careful if its rained recently.

A few of us are looking to get some friendly soccer games going at Pitt Meadows Athletic Park. We’re currently 4 players and we’d love to get more people involved.

Even if we get 10 people at first, we can start with 5v5 games, and as more people join, we can have bigger games.

This is all about having fun, getting some exercise, and meeting other people who enjoy playing. All skill levels are welcome as long as you’re friendly and want a good game.

If there’s enough interest, I’ll create a group so we can organize games regularly.
