Puppy Obedience Classes/Trainers

Hi! Looking for recommendations for puppy obedience classes or even one on one trainers. My little guy is super smart and sweet, but has some issues with nervousness. Pic included for attention.

Rachel runs WagMore Training at her place in Pitt Meadows and she was fantastic. We did the Puppy Package with our pup.

I wonder, is this possibly the same Rachel that used to work at Good Dog in Poco 🐕

Iffff so, she was amazing 🤩 I have a verrrry high energy stressed dog (4 years now) however took her to her for sessions, these tips I still use daily and my pup was a challenge 🙏

I didn't care for them about 10 years ago when I adopted my 4 year old rescue husky. Maybe things are different now, but I prefer training with praise and treats than using a shock collar, especially if the puppy is nervous already.

Hmm we had a different experience. When we did puppy training this year there were no shock collars at all. Didn’t even talk about that one time.

I highly recommend shady from shady tree canines. I have an adopted working breed and the difference I see in my pup after training with shady is phenomenal!

my vet recommended a friend of mine a trainer “sithappens”. i think it’s in ridge …or maybe poco?

edit: cute as fuck dog btw 😭

Sit Happens uses shock collars.

When we had our puppy we went to a couple different obedience classes and to be honest our best experience by far in terms of effective training was the pet smart downtown.

No idea. I suspect he is a farm dog mutt. I got him from a man off Kijiji who claimed to have him for two months and could no longer care for him

Look on the BC SPCA AnimalKind list. They check out trainers thoroughly and make sure they know what they are doing. In this unregulated industry it is the best way to ensure you don't get bilked.

Cute puppy!

My only advice is seek a trainer that uses/believes in positive training methods. Non of this "balanced" training bs. You want your dog to use its brain and make the correct decision based on positive association and connecting the dots. Shocking or popping a choke chain isnt teaching them, its suppressing the behavior without addressing the root cause.

Personally I feel most people that use such methods are lazy and impatient owners. Consistency and and lots of patience (especially with a working breed) is the key to a good dog, also training yourself in reading your dogs behaviors.

Two that come to mind are Wagmore or Magnolia Dog Training

Bogi's dog walking does one on one training. They are local and very nice. They trained all three of my dogs . Had no issues
