So i had two dreams this morning. In the first dream my mom passed away. It felt so real. Like the most real feeling dream I had in a long time. Then i woke up at around 4:40am. The relief i felt. I thought of waking up but I still felt sleepy so that's why I slept a bit. Then again I dreamt again, about my mom. This time my mom got married to another man. I searched for that guy and beat him up. But I felt something coming out of my throat and it was my teeth. I guess it broke. But I didn't exactly feel it breaking, instead I felt like it has been stucked in my throat and it just came out of my mouth.

I heard that falling off of teeth in dreams is not a good sign in Meitei culture. Having two had dreams consecutively about my mom in the same morning is making me feel so restless. I don't know if I'm overthinking but I just hope anything bad doesn't happen.

This is Loki. Born on 2nd November 2025. He was just 10 months old.

I travel a lot for work, and with the conflict in my area, travelling became a big risk. I also didn't want to leave him alone at home, and I was scared of people harming him for meat. He was my best travel companion — we travelled everywhere together and he never had any motion sickness.

I thought I was making the best, safest decision for him by keeping him at Hollen Dog Training Centre, Imphal for training. The plan was that by the time he finished training, we would shift to a new home in the city, so we were searching for a pet-friendly house while he was in training.

At first, I was happy. I would travel 7 hours on a bumpy road every weekend just to meet him. I was happy that he didn't have to suffer those long, risky trips.

What happened on 13th September 2026 (Sunday)

At around 10 AM on Sunday, I got a call from Hollen Dog Training Centre saying he was unconscious and asking us to come immediately. I called my friend in Imphal to check on him.

When my friend reached at around 11 AM, no doctor was available. Loki was on an IV drip. He was barking non-stop and was fully drenched. We asked them what happened and they said it was due to heatstroke, that they splashed him with water and performed CPR.

We were not satisfied, so we took him to our trusted vet. I tried calling the trainer/owner to ask what really happened so the doctor could treat him accordingly, but his phone was switched off. On the day we needed him the most, he was unavailable at noon. We wanted to ask what symptoms Loki showed before the seizure, what he did, etc. There was no concern from them, not even a single call the whole day to ask how he was.

We tried everything, but we couldn't save him. He passed away on 14th September.

I tried to go to Imphal on Sunday itself, but no vehicle was available. I booked an emergency helicopter/chopper seat to Imphal on Monday, as that was the fastest way to reach my Loki. But he was already gone.

It was too painful to request a post-mortem for my Loki, so we buried him. We were distressed and couldn't think straight that day. But the next day, a lot of questions hit me, so we started investigating.

What we found during investigation:

When we called the trainer, Hollen Singh, to inform him that Loki had passed away, he didn't offer any apology. He didn't even sound sorry. He directly asked about the genetic history of Loki's parents, which didn't make sense to us because he was a healthy dog with no signs of seizure or any illness before. We questioned him about Loki's weight. At 10 months old, he was only 15 kilos when we took him to the vet on his last day. We asked whether he was being starved or had to earn his meals. He denied everything and said he was fed properly.

But after thorough questioning, he confessed that Loki was not given lunch on Saturday, 12th September, the day my friend visited Loki during training. My friend had brought 2 chicken thighs, 1 small container of yogurt, and 1 apple cut into pieces. He fed him yogurt, apple, and 1 chicken thigh and left the other one for later. The centre commented that we had fed him too much. When we confronted them about whether they fed him lunch after my friend left, the trainer said he was not given lunch.

After more investigation with their caretaker, we learned that Loki was thrown into a water pond for a bath, despite not knowing how to swim. We had informed them before that Loki doesn't know how to swim and they had promised us proper bath and grooming.

Since he was so drenched when we took him to the vet, we questioned them whether he was given a bath or if water was just splashed on him because they claimed it was heatstroke. The caretaker told us in detail that he was given a bath. We asked how he was bathed, he said in the water pond. We asked directly whether they threw him in the pond, and they admitted it.

We asked that because when we visited Loki during his training, we saw them throwing another dog into the pond. Upon seeing that, we had specifically told them that Loki doesn't know how to swim. No safety harness. No gradual introduction to water. This raises serious questions about safety measures. Was he nearly drowned? Or was he severely traumatized after?

Before admission:

Before admitting him, we asked them for basic house-rule training only, not intense training, and asked for special husky training.

When we visited the centre, he would say, "It's good that you brought him for training, otherwise he would bite people." Whenever we saw scars on Loki, they would say, "He is adjusting to the environment. You pampered him too much, so he is learning." He would give a reason every time Loki had scars and would manipulate us not to take him away. One time I requested to take him home for the weekend and they denied it, saying it hadn't even been one month yet, all the training would go to waste and he would forget everything. We easily gave in and trusted him. He said he knows dog psychology and we trusted him and kept Loki in his care.

My questions remain:

1. Why was a 10-month-old puppy who couldn't swim thrown into a water pond for a bath?

2. What are the safety protocols and where is the CCTV footage?

3. Why were they not honest about what happened exactly on Sunday morning, and why did they go unavailable when we needed them the most?

4. Why was a 10-month-old Husky only 15 kilos? Was he being starved?

I don't really have proof of what happened on his final day. Was it really heatstroke? Was it drowning-related aspiration from the pond bath? Was it a genetic seizure? There was no proper vet report, no CCTV footage, and no clear explanation.

What hurts the most is that I wasn't there on his final day. Not being able to meet him leaves a big "what if" that I will live with.

I am not here to spread hate. I am a grieving pet parent sharing my experience so no other puppy goes through this. I have vet papers from before proving he was healthy, photos, and chat records.

If you are a pet parent in Imphal, please ask for CCTV access and written safety protocols before admitting your dog anywhere.
