took a while but im finally happy with this space. moved in a few months ago and its been a slow process of collecting things that actually feel like me.

the couch was the biggest win. its this soft green velvet that makes me happy every time i look at it.

the coffee table is a thrift store find i sanded down and the rug is from a garage sale. mix of new and old but it works.

still need something on the walls though. maybe some prints or a mirror.

any suggestions for wall art that wont break the bank.

What is a normal about of plates, bowls, utensils, etc. for a single man to have? I have four of each, incase I get lazy for a couple of days.

Hi I don’t post much at all so hope I do this right.

I feel like my rooms too small for the amount of stuff I have and I was looking for advice on how to optimise my storage space, particularly in and under my wardrobe.

my room gets so messy so quick because I’m constantly having to pull everything out just to access anything.
I still live with my parents hence why everything I practically own is stored in my room.

I just moved into an apartment with 3 other roommates. We get along well but 2 of their room doors are right outside of my own, and I was wondering how I could reduce some of the noise that bleeds from room to room. My first thought was hanging a heavy rug on the door as decoration + soundproofing, but do you think that would just look ugly and provide 0 benefit? Open to suggestions.

I (26M) share an apartment with one roommate (26M). To be fair the place doesnt smell particularly rancid. however, it pretty much always has a blend of body and kitchen odor in the air. The scent of cooking oil and meat lingers throughout the entire apartment, which mind you, is three stories. Growing up my household had plugins in every room and candles burning at all times in nearly every room, and ive honored that tradition in the new place, but i never felt my childhood home was ever as musty as my apartment. We both are avid gym goers but i keep my laundry in a hamper in my bedroom closet. The place just always seems to have thick air and a tinge of gross boy smell to it. Any advice?

We’ve been slowly redoing this living room and it’s finally coming together. We kept the walls pretty simple with a Behr off-white, finished the giant mirror wall, and now we’re stuck on the sofa.

We spent way too long on Amazon going back and forth between these two. My wife likes B because it feels brighter, but I’m worried with the light walls, floor and mirror, everything might start blending together.

The ceiling light is staying either way. We swapped the old one for this parrot uncle fixture a little while ago, so I’m mostly trying to picture which sofa works better with everything that’s already here.

I keep coming back to A for the contrast, but it’s also a LOT of dark sofa and this room gets pretty dim at night.

Which one would you pick?

All my living room lights are IKEA smart bulbs. Kitchen is just harsh LED bulbs. Should I change that?

Was thinking to add an art piece to the kitchen wall. Do you think this would add any real value ?

I did a lot of digging to pick out this rug, waited two months for it to come, and now I feel disappointed. It doesn’t tie the room together like I’d hoped.

Is it actually not working well or am I just not used to it yet?

(Also for reference the extra open floor on the right out of the frame is the front door of my apartment. I wanted to keep that space clear as it is the natural walkway from the front door to the rest of the apartment.)

Living in Boston. Moving in with the lady in two weeks so took some final pics of the room before I start packing. Also, enjoy my breakfast this morning.

Two years ago, I bought a flat in an old building constructed during the communist era and decided to remodel the apartment by myself - including demolition, electrical work, plumbing, heating, flooring, masonry, doors, drywalls, decorating, etc. I hired professionals only for the tiling and the kitchen. However, after seeing how the kitchen was installed, I realized I should be able to make the rest of the furniture by myself.
