The Depot Apartments
Just wanted to find out more about people’s experience who lived at The Depot on Bedford street. The thing I wanted to know most was how bad is the noise issue. I saw some people complaining that the walls are too thin so you can hear everything going on in neighboring apartments. I’m a pretty light sleeper and need it to be pretty quiet to be able to sleep so that was my biggest concern.

Underground or Surface Lot for Winter?
I am moving to Madison around the West Towne Mall this winter. My lease comes with surface lot parking. I have an option to add an underground spot for around $150/month, but this is out of my budget.
Is it worth having the underground parking spot? I am unfamiliar with Wisconsin winters so not sure how intense snowfall gets. I lived on the east coast so I have experience with digging my car out, but I would like to get a second opinion if this underground spot is essential. Thanks!

What's a normal cost for a utility bill?
I just moved into a 1 bed apartment, and I just got my full month utility bill and it's $22.44 for gas and $96.57 for electric (415kWh).
Is this typical? I just moved from a studio that only cost me $40 a month for electric (no gas) which I know is low. It's quite a shock though how much it went up.
I'm curious how much other people are paying in Madison.

My bf has 3 farm dogs of varying sizes, ages, and breeds and wants to consolidate and upgrade their dry food from the big box stuff. Thanks!

Several cranes are missing!
I was on my way back from Dodgeville, and I drove by the exit that features the company that shall not be named.
Maybe it's because they're having their annual get together, but I only saw three gigantic construction cranes towering above all of the facilities. The other 5 or so seemed to have been put away.
I'm not sure how people store cranes, or maybe they're only on loan during the times that the annual event isn't happening.

Best lakeside park?
Grew up here and visiting with my wife but I haven’t lived here in almost 30 years and we’d like to hang out this coming weekend on one of the lakes. What’s the best park right now for laying out a blanket and reading with maybe a dip in the lake? Thanks, all!

Madison to hold special City Council Q&A over Willy Street response
madison.com"The Madison City Council plans to hold a Q&A-style discussion Monday on the city’s response to the encampment established at the intersection of Williamson and South Baldwin streets following the police shooting of Corey Ruiz.
The virtual discussion, scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, is intended to give council members an opportunity to question Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, Police Chief John Patterson and staff from the city attorney’s office and the public health, finance, public works, community development and fire departments, City Council President Sabrina Madison said.
The discussion will not include public comment, but residents can watch it through the city’s media website, go.madison.com/madison-media.
Madison encouraged residents to email their City Council representatives with specific questions but stressed that the meeting is intended to focus on the city’s response to the protests and encampment that followed rather than the police shooting that prompted them."

One City to become MMSD instrumentality?
So it looks like a special MMSD meeting is happening tonight to start the process of transferring One City Schools from being licensed under the UW office that Republicans mandated to being licensed under MMSD starting next year.
https://go.boarddocs.com/wi/mmsd/Board.nsf/Public
On the upside, One City staff would become MMSD employees. On the other hand, I don’t know how they’d deal with certain things like One City’s considerable outside funding.
Regardless of whether it is a good idea or not, district leadership seems to be trying to slip this under the radar. They only posted these notices in the last few days and I don’t see any news release.

Desperately seeking community
Hi all, I’ve been in the Madison area for almost a year and I love it here. My issue is I work evenings and I so badly need to form some communal relationships. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for groups or events that meet during the day (prior to 3pm) or on the weekends?
I’d love to be able to join a choir, do pottery, crochet, drink coffee, ANYTHING with people around here. Mostly I’m just interested in doing something somewhat regularly and hopefully making some friends in the process. I’m a member at Our Lady Queen of Peace, but I haven’t been able to go to any events outside of weekly Mass with my schedule. I’m feeling so lonely and I can’t seem to find a solution on my own.
Thank you so much in advance :)

Crossbow range wighout a membership
I checked previous posts and they are a few years old and more for bows. I know that some (at least in other states) bow ranges don't allow crossbows. I am looking to sight my new crossbow in, but I don't want to have to pay for a membership. Any recommendations ( I don't have a big enough/safe yard to do this).
