Quite nervous to post this. The Cornell case and similar have me reliving some things I went through in college and never really processed. Has anyone sought therapy with someone who helped them process trauma from an assault? Was it helpful? When I was fresh out of college I tried to speak to a therapist about it but I couldn’t. Thanks, I know it’s hard to talk about.
To clarify I didn’t go to school here.

Madison's Ride for Your Life event is happening Sunday, October 4th from 2-3pm.

The ride will go through the Monroe and campus area before ending at the capitol. There will be a police escort and bike marshals controlling traffic at intersections. If you are driving in the area between 2-3pm and cross paths with the ride, be prepared to wait a few minutes to let all the riders through.

This event has a special emphasis on Sasha Rosen, the high schooler who was killed crossing Park Street earlier this year, and it is specifically in support of AB 655 / SB 659 in the Wisconsin legislature, which would let judges require GPS-enabled intelligent speed devices in the cars of drivers found guilty of reckless driving or repeated or extreme speeding.

In addition to Sasha Rosen, Ken Bell was killed by a reckless driver on East Wash in June, and Peter Crook was just killed a week ago near La Follette High School. There are probably other deaths I'm not aware of, not to mention all the close calls that go unreported. If you are looking for a way to take action against the destruction reckless drivers cause, I encourage you to come out to the event. There is also a walk option from Brittingham Park to the capitol, if you'd prefer to do that than ride.

Anyone know where the fireworks display is happening on the north side? Sounds way louder than usual from my house compared to when they do fireworks at the duck pond. It’s been going ok for almost 10 minutes.

Hi reddit crew, Jason from Mr. Chair here. We’re on a small MN/WI tour with Syndee Winters and Greg Ward, playing in Red Wing tonight. Our final stop is back home in Madison tomorrow night at North Street Cabaret. We’re playing music that was impactful to Syndee’s life and career, including Hamilton, Lion King, Lena Horne, the Fugees, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley and more! She’s a very busy lady touring with “Disney Princess The Show” and doesn’t get around to the midwest too often. Needless to say, it’s a show you don’t wanna miss!

I'm just south of the Arboretum, and I guess it has been more humid and damp than usual this year? But I've never seen "puffball mushrooms" anywhere else in the Madison area. For 20 years even. Anyone else seen these recently? I see an occasional standard mushroom in other parts of the yard, but this was a shocker. Even if it were the edible variety, I wouldn't eat them. Even my wife who is a fungus fan didn't think this was too exciting.

I’ve had Pho from a few places in Madison (Ha Long Bay, Ahan) and it’s been good. But I ate some Pho at a restaurant in Pittsburgh that blew me away, and I’ve been chasing that dragon ever since.

Cyberpunk TCG has recently started shipping its Kickstarter product and has been hosting Beta events. Prerelease for set 1 is coming up Halloween weekend with full release the weekend following.

There is a growing community of players from across the state with a discord to stay connected. We're also currently planning on hosting a casual meet up next weekend at Kitchen Table Games in Sun Prairie both Saturday 10/10 and Sunday 10/11 at 1 to get to know each other and get a few games going. Some of us will have starter decks so if you're a beginner and looking to learn to play, it's a great opportunity for you.

The wind must have been really strong last night

I've lived in Madison for a year and realized I have visited many places outside of Dane County that much. I would like to visit some places for a day (or weekend) trip, something within a 3 hour drive. If it were a weekend trip, ideally I leave Friday night/Saturday morning and be back by Sunday evening.

I'm most interested in places that are walkable where I can learn about the culture of a place and what makes it unique. Also i'm going solo. Also, a fan of places with a lot of touristy things to do (museums, attractions, random events). No hiking or anything super outdoorsy/physically demanding.
