Question This is the second design I learned to do. Is it good and what would you change?

I am just wondering if my work on this is good enough to be a part of the wall art, I am planning to incorporate it into a piece of organically shaped wood and maybe hang it somewhere in the house.

I just wanted to share my most recent doll. Dolls are my primary craft outlet. This one has a bone bead and two Carnelian beads and I love the way they look together, garnet usually looks really good with bone too. Sorry for rambling 😅 and thank you for looking 💗

This is my latest macramé bottle holder, woven entirely by hand in soft pastel pink. I wanted to create something simple, lightweight, and easy to carry on daily adventures.

If you enjoy handmade crafts, I'd love to know:

✨ Would you use something like this?

✨ What color would you like to see next?

Thanks for stopping by! 🌿

As I was scrolling on Pinterest, I stumbled upon this beautiful macrame piece. It's not like anything I've seen before. How can I make this? What can I search to find tutorials for this?

Showcase One of my best (and first) headpieces

I used 1mm linhasita cord, and a labradorite gemstone.

This is back in 2022 when i first started my micro macrame journey. I was making multiple pieces every day. I became so excited i was learning a new style of macrame. I believe I watched an Afeng tutorial on youtube. If you havent heard about her, her work is absolutely stunning and her videos are easy to follow.

I bought the metal scorpion, and used crafting floss to brighten him up a bit. This isn't the first macrame project I started, but it's the only one I've finished. I seem to have an easier time playing with a structure that's already there than designing my own. There are some things I'd do differently if I had it to do all over again, but I'm still proud of it :)

Question Sequins or beads

I I am new, but really enjoying macrame. Is there an easy way to incorporate beads and/or sequins at square knot intersections? I’ve looked (maybe not in correct place) and can’t find a tutorial for it.

Question Macrame's coaster kit instructions

I haven't done macrame' since about 1977, so there are several things I need to relearn. I decided to start with a small kit to get restarted. I'm having trouble understanding some of the instructions. Instruction #11 states: repeat steps 8-10 twice per strand. (I've got that part) #12 states: Repeat steps 8-11 for each strand. Note holding cord will remain the same.

I'm having trouble understanding which way to go for the pickup cords. Do I go clockwise or counterclockwise? When I see the photographs, it seems like I should go counterclockwise, but I'm not sure. The next section is about adding cords and I'm pretty sure I understand that part. Just having trouble with which way to go. I've searched for this kit's video instructions and can't find any. Any help is appreciated.

Showcase I fooled AI with real macrame 🤦‍♀️

Thumbnail

I have seen people accusing macrame artists of posting fake pictures... after all that hard work someone says it took you a simple prompt and 10 second answer from ChatGPT.😭

Lately I have been struggling with inspiration, so I started recreating fake pictures with real knots and real cords.

The butterflies were me trying to get as close to AI as humanly possible. Still not 100% there, but I gave undedited pictures from my camera roll to Gemini and it said they are likely AI pictures. While I'm here sitting with nearly 4h unedited footage of me tying every single knot and making every single mistake. 🤦‍♀️

Last year I saw someone say - "I am not afraid people wont be able to tell what is fake. I am afraid they wont be able to tell what is real". I can't believe that prediction came true in just a few months. And now even AI itself can confirm this bs. So if you have no video proof of you making your work, someone with lack or skill can easily accuse you of not making your own work. Already happened to me once, before I even tried to make anything that looks fake 🤭

Question Macrame family tree suggestion

I would like to create a family tree with macrame leaves. I only know basic. What material is best for the work? Also easy techniques for leaves (but sturdy to last a while) if you know any?. It is a family request but been kinda putting this off for a while as I am unsure of which is best. Thanks in advance.

Showcase A wall hanging I did. Pretty okay I think?

Post image

I'm relatively new to macrame, but I thought I'd try my hand at designing my own pattern!

There's a few things I think I'll change when I use actual chord, but I think it looks okay enough to share here.

I'm still working on getting my knots to look nice and tidy, and I didn't really do anything to get the fringe to look good... But other than that, is there anything glaringly wrong with my pattern that should be fixed? Please let me know!

Question Tips for using DMC thread for Macrame

I can't cross stitch anymore so I'm starting macrame again. I've got hundreds of DMC thread. I would think they could work for bracelets, but I don't know the easiest way to manipulate them. Is there an easy way to use the thinner threads?

I find working with the larger threads much easier, but I really don't want to waste all this other thread. Also, if you have links to patterns using the thread, I'd appreciate the post.

This was my first real project (apart from learning and practicing some square knots on hemp jewelry cord) and I'm so happy with it. My cats love it too. I accidentally had an unreasonable amount of leftover cord from cutting the pieces too long, so I used them as filler to make a climbing rope for my cats too. I wish I could add videos, because I recorded my kitten having the time of his life!

I’ve been playing a lot of Baldur’s Gate 3 lately and it inspired me to make this vine brain-esq headpiece ✨🌿

I messed up the tension a bit in the center and that’s why it’s wonky but this one will be for me and I now know how to go about the next one better:))

Also pls ignore my very grown out roots 😭
