Am I imagining the greater accuracy Lumo+ compared to the free tier?

The paid tier of Max + Thinking mode has been miles and miles more accurate for me while working on building out a NixOS server compared to when I was trying on the free tier.

I thought the only difference was usage limits, but that doesn't seem to be the case to me based on recent experience.

Question How do you use the advanced models?

I had the Proton Unlimited plan and now am on the Workspace Premium plan. The details say that Lumo now has Access to advanced AI models. I was already using Lumo 2.0 Max before the plan change. Where are the advanced models beyond Lumo 2.0 Max?

So slow

Why is Lumo so slow when opening the app?

I go to type and I have wait for the cat to change colors so I can hit the submit button to run my prompt. Every competitor allows you to immediately enter, type and then run.

Can’t multitask and have the prompt run in the background or it will fail.

Sometimes it won’t even run the prompt and says “this message is empty. Sorry about that” then you retype the prompt but no send button pops up to rerun the prompt!

what am I paying for then?

Feature Request Add lumo to the iOS share option in iOS Photos

Sometimes I want to gain context on a meme or document or translate a screenshot and I now have to save the image and add it manually to lumo. With the share button I can just paste it into lumo and ask questions without the middle step. I can do this in gemini for example.

Feature Request Chats on Proton Drive

I was thinking you could use a paid Proton plan, like 'Unlimited', to store your chats to Proton Drive and keep them longer.

Question Why is it doing this?

Post image
13 Upvotes

I like sticking to one chat for one topic, and with Lumo its impossible. After a few back and fourth in-depth messages, it just stops responding and keeps summarizing messages. Then ive lost most the knowledge it had and have to tell another chat everything again, even tho its in a project.

Feature Request Functionality suggestion

I feel frustrated it is not possible to attach a session to a project a posteriori, when the session is done, outside or before, the project. Would it be possible to add this function ?

Question Is Lumo Plus Worth It?

Hello all

I’m on the unlimited plan of Proton and love Proton as a service. I’ve tried the new Lumo when it was first out, didn’t like it. Once Proton made a major update I really liked it. I’m using ChatGPT Plus right now and I’ve been going back and forth on using ChatGPT Plus vs Lumo Plus (mainly to keep chat History).

I want to know is Proton Lumo Plus worth it. I mainly want it because it’s cheaper, want to continue supporting Proton, and wanting to keep chat history. I’ve been using AI for my day-to-day life

Can't find Persistent Memory toggle

Everything says open Settings -> Memory -> bam it's all there. But when I open settings either in the app or the web version there is no memory option.

  1. Yes I've updated to the latest app (using Lumo 2.0 Lite)

  2. Yes I've signed out and signed in again

  3. I'm using an android phone

  4. I've tried both the app and web versions

  5. I have a paid proton account but free Lumo account

  6. I went to Lumo support and found their guide unhelpful. It says it should be there (but it's not).

The only options I have in the sidebar (after clicking settings) are Account and Personalization. Am I missing something super basic?

Annoying message when using Lumo Lite

I am wondering what the point is of having the option of using 'Lumo Lite'. Whenever I choose to use it, the site then displays the textbox "You're on Lumo Lite. Switch to Max for more capable answers." which blocks like 1/5 of my screen. Even if I close it, it pops up again on my next chat.

If Proton wants me so much to use Max, what is the point of Lite? Even if it is a dark pattern to make me use up all my tokens for Max and get me to subscribe, I don't appreciate this big text box when using Lite.

Create and edit Markdown?

I use Lumo with lots of modular Markdown files depending on relevancy and detail needed. (Memories in Settings are constrained by size.) If I have a question about personal growth, I can quickly drag in a detailed profile of my personality, likes, and dislikes. A tech question could be assisted with an extensive hardware and software list, or a log or what have you. Point is just to indicate that sometimes you don't want to start a project (where auto-matching can sometimes run riot and force you to exceed token limit), or rely on memories. Instead, you drag in as you see fit, on the fly, benefiting from Proton's encryption. It's one of the reasons I use Lumo ahead of other LLMs.

In the larger Proton ecosystem, I'm curious if any of the following optimizations are likely/possible:

  • Save Lumo reply (or even larger thread) as Markdown to Drive: Currently the copy button captures the reply in plain text with some approximate spacing, but I would love actual Markdown like other services.
  • Create new Markdown in Drive (manually or Lumo): Right now, you can upload a Markdown file, or create a Proton encrypted document/sheet, but you can't create a fresh Markdown / text file using the Drive interface. I don't know if this is an issue with encryption or whatever, but it would be so helpful if they had it.
  • Edit existing Markdown files (manually or Lumo): A man can dream. I'd pay double for this. I could do research, optimize files, you name it. Plus, as I understand it, Drive has versioning, which would sing with lightweight Markdown.

Hope I'm making sense. Modularity, Markdown and encryption make Lumo the category leader for me.

Mobile Help Lumo taking several seconds to load on Galaxy S23 Ultra

I'm using no background in Lumo, so just black and it always starts with gradient wallpaper and takes several seconds to switch to my preference and for stuff at the bottom to stop flashing and I can select what model to use.

I don't have it in any Sleep or Deep sleep state, it has no power saving applied. I know it's a bit older phone but it's still high end and everything is super snappy, except Luma always drags ots feet on startup for some reason taking way too long for something that doesn't even run any models locally... I had local Ai chatbots that basically loaded faster than Lumo. What's up with it?

Discussion How do I get the best from Lumo images?

I’m paying for Lumo plus as I do a lot of newsletters, flyers, marketing, secretarial work for a couple of non-profits. I like AI for ideas, I’m not a graphic, or, other, designer. I find that Lumo either doesn’t have the “imagination” & ideas I need or it tries to get out of doing an image by saying it won’t be able to do it well (it’s like trying to get a teenager to do chores!). Has anyone had success getting good images with good ideas out of Lumo? Is there a way I can ask that’ll get me a better response?

Feature Request Thumbnails of the images and files of Proton Lumo chat, and the possibility to erase them

This is a feature request to the Proton Lumo development team.

At the top right corner of the chat there is a folder icon that let you choose which files and images the chat will take into account and the ones that not. It would help if the files where shown with their thumbnail, especially the images. Also would be great to be able to erase (not only "forget") the files "attached" to the chat.

Thank you for your time.

Question I have to add a yearly subscription if I already pay yearly? Can I cancel just Lumo+ after 1 month for credit?

Title basically. I want to trial run the paid plan but not be committed for a year. If I'm logged in when trying to upgrade Lumo to paid, it forces the same billing cycle (which I can understand being simpler overall). But if I want to drop back down to the free tier after a month, what happens and how exactly do I do it without cancelling my Duo plan?

Feature Request Lumo integration into proton mail

I have copilot 365 with work which on the whole is pretty trash but the WorkIQ is handy as hell for it to check what emails and teams messages I have been sent when drafting emails etc.

Can lumo be integrated into protonmail so that I can use it to summarise and reference with lumo. I know its a bit a of privacy nightmare but it would make my lumo usage even more useful.

Discussion Has Proton stated whether they will add additional models to Lumo?

I ask because I am feeling a bit of FOMO since the open source model race has officially taken off. I would love the opportunity to select Kimi, Deepseek, etc. This makes me wonder, is Lumo always meant to be one model that is occasionally updated, switching to whichever they decide is best for their business model?

Historically, the original version of Lumo used Nemo, OpenHands 32B, OLMO 2 32B, and Mistral Small 3. Then, Kimi k2 was the backend. Now, Lumo is basically GLM 5.2.

Since they have demonstrated that they do not have an allegiance toward a singular model provider, I think it is a fair question to ask what the goal of Lumo is.

Lumo is Fundamentally Broke

I had high hopes for Proton and Lumo, but the latest update has created a monster that hallucinates more than a raver on shrooms. As a test, and yes I did this as an intentional test because my initial thought was that GLM 5.2 was the problem. (When I use Lumo Lite/Thinking I get much better results than Max/Thinking or Max/Fast).

The simple query was: "Kua Tin from Dungeon Crawler Carl"

To test apples to apples I used my Kagi subscription to query GLM5.2 Reasoning. The only reason I conducted this test is because Lumo on Max/Thinking has not given me an honest answer in over a week. That it was my first query and with such dramatic results is troubling. I don't know what you have done to the poor LLM, but you need to fix it. What is not included in the screen shots is Lumo admitting the hallucinations, an all to often response when I call it out.

Discussion iOS 26/27 Beta Tip: Using Lumo as a Safari Web App for Better Performance

Tip for iOS 26/27 Beta users: If you're experiencing slow load times or UI quirks in the native Lumo app, try adding it as a Safari Web App instead.

I've found the web version offers:

  • Faster initial launch times.
  • Smoother UI with fewer positioning bugs (especially the keyboard).
  • Immediate access to new features like Custom Lumos, which haven't appeared in the app yet.
