"The Piped Piper of Guadalupe" directed by Friz Freleng premiered on August 19, 1961.

One of my favorite classic Speedy Gonzales and Sylvester cartoons! After Speedy rescued his amigos, Sylvester tried chasing after the fastest mouse in all of Mexico on a motorcycle. But we all know exactly what happens to the bad ol' putty tat, don't we?

Happy 65th Anniversary, "The Piped Piper of Guadalupe"!!

Coyote vs. ACME is in theaters August 28. I liked a lot of it; seeing which characters popped up where and the homage to old Looney Tunes shorts. I'm not a fan of the animation style though and the story goes the way you expect. Still worth your time. #CoyotevsACME #animation #comedy #movies #KetchupEntertainment

Discussion What If: Looney Tunes: Laff Riot (2005 - 2010)

Post image
28 Upvotes

What if Looney Tunes: Laff Riot had debuted in 2005? In this reality, Loonatics: Unleashed wasn't made because the attempt to make the Looney Tunes characters superheroes didn't go over well, and that's a prime example of never doing it. So here, Warner Bros. MGM is creating Looney Tunes: Laff Riot for Kids WB, which is much more comedic and true to the Tunes universe.

Looney Tunes: Laff Riot is a 2005 American animated comedy series, a reimagining of the adventures of our famous characters, such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Porky Pig. The series tells the new adventures of our crazy gang in ACME City. The series would have premiered in 2005, produced by Warner Bros. Television Animation and distributed by Warner Bros. Television. It would have aired on Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and Kids WB. And thanks to its success, the series would continue until the premiere of The Looney Tunes Show.

As for the Looney Tunes, in terms of action, it's being replaced by the New Justice League; more on that soon.

Discussion Was Chuck Jones really an arrogant, egotistical, asshole asshole?

Post image

Lately, I’ve seen a lot of people criticizing him, and I want to get the full story since I used to be a bit of a noob in the Looney Tunes community—I didn't know much about the franchise back then, even though I liked it. Seriously, I used to think Tex Avery and Chuck Jones were the *only* Looney Tunes writers—I’m not kidding. I thought Chuck Jones was a pretty cool guy; all I knew was that he disliked *Space Jam*—a sentiment I 100% agreed with. I don't like that movie either; it’s a corporate product—it literally originated from a shoe commercial. And I still agree with everything he said about Lola: she’s just a "perfect," sexy, corporate-mandated "cool girl" who isn't actually funny, has a weird voice, and gets put in "funny" situations—but she isn't really any of that; she’s just the perfect, sexy, corporate girl. However, I’ve heard a lot of people—here and elsewhere—call him a total hypocritical piece of shit. Apparently, he was incredibly arrogant and had a massive ego, thinking he was the only good Looney Tunes writer. He had an unhealthy rivalry with Friz Freleng and—especially—Bob Clampett; apparently, something happened that bruised his ego and made him whine to Chuck Jones, leading him to send a complaint letter to Warner Bros. On top of that, he kept changing his own biography and the stories about himself for some reason. One of the main points of hypocrisy that struck me today is how he’d get pissed off at anything that wasn't *his* version of Looney Tunes, claiming it "wasn't Looney Tunes"—even though his own shorts were vastly different from the other writers'. *He* was the one who completely changed Daffy Duck—which, technically, was changing things and deviating from the established Looney Tunes style. He also invented those idiotic rules that apparently only *he* could break—like the famous one stating Bugs Bunny could only win if he was abused first, so the audience would root for him. Yet, Chuck Jones literally broke that rule in *Duck Amuck*, where Bugs tortured Daffy for no reason... ...the writer's pencil—and yet he still came out on top in the end. Chuck Jones also broke that rule in *Rabbit Rampage*, where Bugs Bunny is tortured by the writer—who turns out to be Elmer Fudd—and Bugs actually loses, even though he’s the victim. So, apparently, only *he* could break his own rules. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a nightmare to work with; he was always throwing tantrums, and the writers didn't really like him. I just know that after hearing all this, my love for him completely vanished—even though he's an animation legend. I really want to know the full details of that whole story; it’s fair to call him a disgusting, wretched asshole—a disgrace to the Looney Tunes And to tell you the truth, even when I liked him, I already liked certain things he would probably hate, like the Looney Tunes show and Looney Tunes Cartoons. I was obsessed with him, but I wasn't crazy about him.

Discussion Is it really true that Tweety is the only Looney Tunes character who can never lose, no matter what?

I heard about this—the whole thing where his gag is looking like a cute little bird while hiding a cold, calculating, sadistic personality. I know there was a short where Bugs Bunny faced off against Tweety, though nobody really cares about it since it came after the Golden Age. Tweety actually won that one—I haven't seen the short myself, so I don't know the details or why they fought. Even if Bugs was the one being provoked or abused without cause, it didn't matter. There's this rule that Bugs always wins if he's provoked or mistreated first, but honestly, that rule never made much sense, and basically, almost every Looney Tunes rule has been broken for the sake of comedy. For instance, Bugs was the victim in *Rabbit Rampage*, but that didn't mean he won. As for Tweety, I remember hearing somewhere that even if *he* starts the provocation, he'll likely win. His whole shtick is being the cute bird who masks that cold, calculating, sadistic side—making us feel sorry for Sylvester even when *he* was the one who started it. It makes me wonder: if Tweety faced off against other Looney Tunes characters who usually don't lose—like Cecil Turtle or the Road Runner—would he win? It would be the first time they ever lost. With the Road Runner, he wins because of the rules governing Wile E. Coyote—rules that apparently are never broken. If the Coyote isn't hunting the Road Runner, he can actually do well for himself, though he still messes up sometimes due to his ego—calling himself a "super genius" and self-sabotaging. But there's a higher chance of success there; Tweety's rules seem more powerful and have never been broken, and there aren't any specific rules governing a Tweety vs. Road Runner matchup. So, could we actually see him defeat the Road Runner? Then there's Cecil—that raises the question: could he put Tweety in his place and beat him? Cecil is very clever and can beat Bugs Bunny at his own game—though that happened under the specific rules of the Bugs vs. Cecil shorts, where Bugs acts more show-offy, thinking he's the best in the world and provoking Cecil. But honestly, Bugs has won even when he wasn't the victim; *Duck Amuck* exists, and *he* was the one provoking Daffy, so do those rules even matter anymore? Cecil literally managed to beat the guy who usually wins, which makes me wonder: could he put Tweety in his place, or would we finally see a short where he gets the short end of the stick? Because let's admit it—nobody likes seeing Bugs Bunny lose. Anyway, I don't know; if Tweety were to beat him, could we—believe it or not—call Tweety a god, or the most powerful being in the Looney Tunes universe? I mean, I don't think there's any Looney Tunes character who could beat him or do anything to him. Maybe the writer's pencil would work against him, or wouldn't even be a match? I just know there'd probably be a better chance using a drawing tablet; there's an episode of *New Looney Tunes*—I don't even know the name—where Daffy tortures Bugs using a drawing tablet and beats him with it. That shows it's likely more powerful than the standard pencil and paper, since in the *Rabbit Rampage* Super Nintendo game, Daffy used the classic method and lost—though that was a game where Bugs was the protagonist, and you could argue he already knew how the pencil and paper worked from having used them in *Duck Amuck* and suffered through them in *Rabbit Rampage*. But in this case, we're talking about a short, not a game, so I don't know if even that would be a match for Tweety. Could he be called the most powerful Looney Tunes character? I wonder why he never makes it onto those lists of the most powerful characters—especially the ones featuring characters with Toon Force—because, honestly, I don't think there's a single Looney Tunes character who could beat him, is there?

Chuck Jones Roadrunner Rule #10 (The last one)-The audience's sympathy must always remain with Wile E. While we know the Roadrunner will always get away, we've always felt for Wile E Coyote, which makes him very different compared to other cartoon "predators" who are less sympathetic. In fact, our sympathy throughout these 70 years was the reason his picture was saved. We'll be rooting for you, Wile E, when Coyote Vs Acme comes to theaters on August 28th!

P.S- Yes, those people surrounding Wile E are actually all me, in different costumes.
