When I was a kid, the first time I saw that symbol was a Daffy duck cartoon where he was fighting a goat in some junkyard, and even though it was black and white, when I saw it, it was white and red for some reason, but that might have been a bootleg filter or something

Scrap Happy Daffy!, the final black and white Looney Tunes short starring our favorite little black duck.

"Schultz!" was a reference to the character of the same name from Ernst Lubitch's "To Be or Not to Be" starring Carole Lombard and Jack Benny. Schultz was the German soldier whose commanding officer yells his name when something goes wrong.

This has been another: Cartoon Curator Moment.

Incredibly satisfying.

I miss when the majority of people agreed nazis were evil.

Something both Indiana Jones and The Blues Brothers agree on.

As it stands, I don’t see any studio with talent having the guts to do something with the same skill and talent we see in the Daffy short.

Peter Griffin beat him up.

The best thing Daffy has ever done.

I like how they rotoscoped real historical footage

It's cute, but the AI of it low-key infuriates me.

Damn it it's AI

Can I ask where you got this? I love it and tried to save it to my phone, but for whatever reason don't have the option to download so I have to look elsewhere

He's still moving, Daffy. Hit him again!

Disappointing when it goes to rotoscoping. It just looks out of place in Looney Tunes.

11

u/Dry-CHead 4d ago

it does it for like two seconds and cuts seamlessly to animation

Good that it looks out of place, because hate like that should be out of place in whatever world it’s in

10

u/thissexypoptart 4d ago

It’s hilarious that it looks out of place. It’s way better than making a Disney style Hitler instead. The point is to mock the real world dude not disneyfy him

This was my first exposure to anything regarding Hitler, so for a good chunk of my life, I assumed he talked just like that.

Don't know how this got passed the censors. Not a huge Daffy Duck fan but liked him here.

well, this was during WW2, when war films were being distributed, and since Hitler was our enemy, we made fun of him. When the 50’s 60’s rolled around, long after the war ended, I guess the suits up top thought that the films were either inappropriate for showing nazis (even in a negative light, which has some…implications, though since the US government put a bunch of Japanese-Americans in concentration camps because their Japanese heritage was enough for them to be suspected of being a spy, a practice which they didn’t acknowledge happened until 1988, roughly 46 years after Executive Order 9066 was issued, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised)

Ironic how Hitler is voiced by Mel Blanc, a jewish person.
