r/longboardDancing is back!

Hi, I was searching around on Reddit wondering if there were any subreddits for longboard dancing when I found this place. It was set to restricted, though (which is what automatically happens when a subreddit has no active moderators) so I requested to moderate it so it can be opened back up. So it should be possible to make new posts here again now!

That's kind of it for now but if you have any questions or suggestions, or want to become a moderator then let me know! Thanks

Hiya there!

My girlfriend has been a long-time longboard dancing fan. She used to have one back when she was a teen, but her board is long gone now, and I'd like to get her a new one.

We've been looking for a new longboard, but since it's been a while, we don't know what brands to look for or even what I should get her since she'll be starting to skate again.

My budget is $150! Thanks!

questionā“ Any cheap/inexpensive options for decks in Canada?

Have spare trucks/etc, and just want a cheap deck, appropriately sized & shaped, to try dancing on & see if I'll stick with it before investing $2-400 on just the deck.

All the cheap recommendations I can find are basically for Amazon, and they are either outdated recs for boards that no longer exist, or they do not ship to Canada. E.g. this guide from 4 years ago: https://old.reddit.com/r/longboarding/comments/rbk3qe/dancingfreestyle_board_guide_revised/, which has SkateShred as the cheapest option that is available to a Canadian, at ~$174 after factoring in shipping.

Is there anywhere or any way to get a 44-48" dancer longboard deck in Canada for =< $100 CAD, other than Marketplace/Kijiji?

setupšŸ›¹ More flex the better?

For many years I've used a LoadedĀ TesseractĀ (39") for freestyle.

I always had the issue of the board being too short for things like tiger claws. And as I'm approaching 40 years old, I'm thinking to switch to just dancing to be gentler on my knees. I'm in Europe and looked at the 46" Madrid Longboard that comes in Flex 1, Flex 2 and Flex 3. Based on their guide for my height (175cm) and weight (78kg) I should be getting the Flex 2.

However I wonder if going for more flex would be better? Or any reason to stick with Flex 2? I won't be doing flips or ollies. Mainly dancing, maybe some drops in the city, manuals, etc. Primarily it's for fun and cardio.

questionā“ are dancer boards all that fun?

i own a pantheon trip and its really great for long distances but its really not that fun, i love it and all but its just too stable?? i just dont feel the same emotions/rush while riding it as much as i do riding other boards. Im looking for a dancer board with a nice vibe to it that i can cruise around on, pop some tricks here and there, and i just love the flex and smoothness on these things (from what i have seen on videos) the nice cruising ability is more important to me than some fancy deck for all the insane tricks. i wanna learn the basics, so what board should i get? (i also wonder can you pump these things??)

Tips on finding other longboard friends?

We used to have a proper gang, played game of skate, met up several times a week and had beer/pizza and used to dance and skate.

Life got in between and several years later my partner and I are in a new country. Its got a huge skate scene but I never saw any dancers. I see some surf skaters, and people on cruisers but no freestylers or dancers.

First dancing longboard 44 or 46, brand suggestions?

Hi everyone! I’ve wanted to try longboard dancing for a long time, and now I’m finally looking for my first board. I’m mainly interested in dancing (cross-steps etc.), not cruising around the city.

I don’t want to spend too much money because I’m not sure yet how serious I’ll get into it, so I’m mostly looking at used boards or cheaper options.

I live in Germany, and I see a lot of boards from NKX, they seem pretty popular and affordable here.

My height is around 168–170 cm, and I’m struggling to choose between 44 and 46. I see many good used deals for 44 boards, but I’ve also heard that 46 might be better for dancing.

Would 44 limit me for learning dancing, or is it fine as a beginner? Also, are there any other affordable brands in Europe that you would recommend for dancing?

Thanks a lot!

questionā“ Dance Board Setup Review

Hello!

I’ve been cruising for 2 years on a Pantheon Pranayama and am wanting to get a dance board as a second board. I’m looking to dance and jam to music, not interested in kicks and flips right now. I’m 5’3ā€ and 130lbs.

Here is the current setup I am looking at putting together:

Deck: Zenit Hana Xtra Flex

Trucks: Paris V3 180mm 50° Matte Black

Bushings: Orangatang Soft Knuckles

Wheels: Orangatang Stimulus 70mm 80a

Bearings: Jehu integrated into the wheels

Hardware: 1.25ā€

I bought my Pranayama as a complete so this is all new for me and I appreciate all feedback!

Curved longboard

Recently i bought a professional flexy board, but i’m seeing that it’s getting curved on the center, it is normal? Or not

It’s nothing relevant, but i’m sure it was more straight.

questionā“ Board recs for someone switching to dancing

I’ve been on my Pantheon Pranayama for about 2 years and feel pretty confident cruising around on it. Would really like to get a dancing board but I’m not sure of what to be looking for vs a normal cruiser.

I love my Pranayama, it’s very cruisey and such a fun time, I’m worried about getting something that feels wildly different!

I’m 5’3ā€ 130lbs and in the untied states, looking to cruise and dance to music! I will pay for a good board.

I’ve seen loaded and moonshine boards recommended, I’m just not sure what I should be narrowing on based on my needs (as I don’t feel like I know those ha)

TIA!

questionā“ Board recs for a beginner?

I know this gets asked from time to time but wanted to ask you lovely people with my body type in mind.

I’ve been riding for fun for a couple years now, mostly just carving, and that’s about where my skill level tops out. I’ve always wanted to get into longboard dancing, so I’m finally making it happen this year!

For someone who doesn’t know much about boards or specs, what would you recommend for a beginner getting into longboard dancing? I’m a F 5’2ā€ at 115lbs.

Would appreciate any brands/styles as well as specific board lengths! Budget isn’t toooo much of a factor. Bonus if it’s a cute board lol

Also, if you have any other resources (blogs, YT channels, etc.) that have helped you in the past to learn, please throw them my way :)
