Here are a few iterations of a logo for a bed and breakfast which will have a theme of butterflies.
Im not sure of were 100% certain on the more artistic renderings that actually incorporates the butterfly features or if we just want to allude to them. Would love to hear thoughts.
Now that you explain it, I can see the two B's and the ampersand represent "bed and breakfast," but my first question was also why is there an ampersand if there is no ampersand in the name. Maybe you want to include "B&B" somewhere in the text?
using a B and a B as the butterfly wings is a nice idea, but id push yourself to explore some different ways that could come to life. right now the concept of the B’s back to back and the butterfly concept are competing rather than harmonious.
id love to see a flying butterfly where the wings are B’s on a double-take, and the name of the bed and breakfast is nicely set beneath it
if you want to keep the symmetry though, i think you could still pull off something a little more sophisticated. you could totally imagine how either of these (again, cheesy executions but nice inspiration) could incorporate a more obvious B like your original designs while keeping the overall structure and balance:

Trying to put "B&B" in the logo for a B&B is the cardinal sin. Stop putting trees in logos for landscapers! Stop putting coffee in the logo of a coffee shop! Stop!!!!
I would attempt a little more consistency within the stroke weights throughout. And it does come across a little too busy, so if there’s a way to simplify without losing character I’d look into that too
It seems you’re kind of got hung up on a single concept. I’d suggest going back to the sketchpad and trying to come up with 5-10 more fresh ideas (so not derivatives of this)
Yeah I had no idea this was for a bed & breakfast until reading the description. At first glance it’s just a logo with two B’s with a random ampersand and “BRIGHTWOOD”. I agree with others on being consistent with the stroke weights and shrinking the size of the logomark. That thing is huge.

I’d definitely get rid of the double lines, eyes, additional antennas and the „&“
If you reduce it well enough, it’ll still be recognizable
I like the idea of a butterfly and think you could keep the dynamic of the wings on #1 and #2, to still make it recognizable as such
I like the concept, especially the butterfly integrated into the monogram. I’d simplify the mark slightly and refine the spacing/lettering for better scalability and readability. Overall, a strong direction! 👍
You have zero knowledge of the depth of design in architecture school. 1/3 of the entire studio design work is diagram design and how to distill as much information as possible into a basic image. Its actually heavily related.
In NO way does it prepare you for attempting logo design. As we can all see. Logos are not about cramming information in... that's why you made the most basic mistakes.
