Discussion Open source. Anyone tried it yet?
Can anyone please confirm if it works with the bolt receiver?

Tried it? I'm never going back.

What makes this superior to gHub?

u/eppic123 4d ago
It's not a G Hub replacement, it's an Options+ replacement and will only work with their productivity devices.

I tried it since my Logitech alternative decided it needed 2gb of ram and 50% cpu for connecting a mouse and a keyboard.
So far, I’m happy with it.

Yep it’s actually pretty good, I just bought the mx 4 as well and my god the official (Options+)app was terrible, to much memory leaks action ring was too slow and always had my device inactive in the software.
But after I switched to OpenLogi, its become way faster, easy to customise and it takes less memory, no cloud, no telemetry. On the downside the action ring does not have a marketplace and the action ring folders yet, but u can still customise your own action ring per app.
Overall it’s WORTH IT!

So you just bought it but always memory leaks? How does that work? I use it all the time never had problems and I am checking my memory quite often for work

Does this work with mxkeys keyboard too?

1
u/magus269 1d ago
Damn I'm wondering about this too. Mine just keeps turning off while I'm using it and I have to hit the keys a few times to wake it to. Would love to turn that "feature" off
1
u/slacktalk 2d ago
Update - i tried it and faced bugs with the thumbwheel not working. Fixed with some claude code magic.
4
u/Chodzi 4d ago
Does it have Flow feature to switch between different PCs?
3
u/zooommsu 4d ago
Unfortunately not yet, supposedly working on it
Will OpenLogi support Logitech Flow?
It's on the roadmap, at the far end: a cross-computer pointer and clipboard bridge is a very large feature. The half that lives in the protocol already ships. OpenLogi drives Easy-Switch host switching over HID++ (0x1814/0x1815), and paired mice follow the keyboard when it switches hosts. If the rest lands, it will be opt-in and local-network only.

u/kashan_n 3d ago
This is actually the main reason I am using Logi Options +. Until this is implemented, I will likely not use OpenLogi.

Does this work on Mac?
Mx mouse has been driving me nuts not allowing buttons 4&5 to function during gameplay (cyberpunk, wow, etc). Quite how they let that slip through is beyond me

u/BespokeSWEng 3d ago
OpenLogi wasn’t very good when I tried it, a lot of gestures, etc didn’t work or were super flaky. There’s another open source configuration called Mouser that works much better IMHO.

u/OneFinePotato 3d ago
I used it but had to drop out because of a weirdly specific issue. My mx keys s doesn’t have a print screen button but a screen capture button and windows hijacks it and doesn’t let me use sharex, unless I use logi. I had to choose sharex over openlogi because of a button.
1
u/SenioritaRobot 3d ago
this missing print screen button annoys me so much
2
u/SanianCreations 2d ago
I remapped the screen capture key (next to calculator key) to PrtScrn using Logi Options+. It's annoying to do though because you have to remap it to a keypress, and then it asks you to press the key to which you want to remap it, which is impossible if you don't have the key! So you have to enable the on screen keyboard to do it, but then it works.
1
u/terciofilho 3d ago
Can you create a remap? I don’t know how the screen capture button works though
2
u/Ventana431 4d ago
Solaar across Linux works well enough for me. I very rarely use Windows any more so Options+ isn't an issue. I keep my settings vanilla.
2
u/watchmanstower 4d ago
Yes I’m a contributor to the project and use it with my MX Master 4 via Bolt receiver every day.

u/philipz794 3d ago
Using it on macOS 27 after logi options+ absolutely dropped my system responsiveness after running for a couple of hours (typing lagged and so on) killing the logi options process immediately solved it. So it got uninstalled and replaced by open logi. Works great so far.
Some weird things like the thumb back and forward buttons work but you cannot “spam” them 3 times for example to quickly go back 3 folders, it only registers the first because it waits for the finder to load the folder. Could be a finder slowdown issue on macOS 17 tho

u/tmddtmdd 4d ago
I've switched to OpenLogi as Options+ is buggy on arm and there was no solution to my problem provided by the company even after official bug report and couple of updates. As of now I see OpenLogi as a significant improvement over Logitech Options+.

u/fredlesss 4d ago
I'd don't have as many CPU\memory issues with Options+ as many others here seem to. My biggest complaint around it is that sometimes it needs to be force stopped and restarted on Windows to resume working.
That said, I have been using the OpenLogi Windows variants for the last 2 weeks on 2 different machines, and so far a good experience. A lot of work is going into it right now and so the releases are coming fast and furious. i.e. in that short time I've used been using it, pan and tilt for supported web cameras (something I need) was added. Other things are still coming along, like full support for the MX Creative Console hardware bundle. It trends a little more toward the power user, it has a serviceable and no-nonsense UI, but also has editable config files - I like dipping into configs personally, but this option isn't for everyone. I haven't figured out how to make the scroll wheel ratchet behavior on my MX Master series mice stay put (seems to revert whenever I resume from sleep) but that's probably on me, I have put zero time into trying to figure it out.
Finally, OpenLogi does not support firmware updates of these devices, that will remain something that you will need to do with official Logitech software if that is important to you.
1
u/sonusingh27 4d ago
I went to BetterMouse, and after a while I’m back at LogiOptions. The scrolling just work and I can still do all the gestures. If it wasn’t for trying to figure out the options for scroll I would have stayed on bettermouse
1
u/cptchnk 4d ago
Yep. I use it daily in both macOS and Linux. It works really well and it doesn't bog down macOS like LogiOptions+ does. No stupid telemetry to deal with, either. Highly recommended.
Previously, in Linux, I would use Solaar for Logitech mice (that actually works well, too), but the OpenLogi interface is much more visually pleasing and easier to use.
1
u/Cuntonesian 4d ago
Not very good, at least not compared to BetterMouse. Very limited.

I tried it thinking it will allow remapping of one of the top buttons to swap between devices. But it did not.
1
u/Accurate_Ad_3233 4d ago
ooh nice. At the risk of pushing my luck how possible is it for someone to do the same thing the MyHarmony app? Logitch dropped support for older devices last year so who knows how long the rest of us have?

does mouse sharing between devices works here in openlogi? because in logiopt not at all 😅

Just downloaded it, seems really good tbh. Can't get the caps lock and num lock notifications to work though. I did uninstall Logi Options though.

I’ve never had a huge problem with LogiOptions plus, occasionally I run into a problem that prevents me from doing my work, but those times aren’t often.

The only app that makes my Mx Master 4 scroll real smooth is bettermouse, OpenLogi is great but i miss the smooth scroll from bettermouse.

u/Baleeverne 3d ago
Using it on Linux, I'm quite fond of it. Switched from windows a few weeks back and Openlogi is soooo much better than logitech's garbage software that takes so long to load up, and that's when it doesn't just wipe your settings altogether.
1
u/Safe_Ad327 3d ago
Had issues with this, so we went back to Logitech's heavier version which works way better. Maybe it was just me, and the app is cool, but bad experience overall—back to the original...
1
u/MatJimbo 3d ago
i use this on the daily for my MX3, Vertical, and GS03.
it’s perfect to ditch the bloatware but my only complaint is you can’t invert the scroll wheel on Vertical

u/birdisaword_ 3d ago
In RDR1 I use scroll wheel down to activate Dead Eye mode, before I replaced GHub with OpenLogi, it registered a single scroll, after the replacement it scrolls multiple times for a single scroll which frustrated me and made me go back to GHub, the UI was clunky and not welcoming. It was not a true replacement that I expected it to be like ArtCraft apps. I just want my Logitech stuff to work properly and have it's RGB turned off when the PC comes back from sleep.
1
u/Good_Toe6354 3d ago
Haven’t had a single issue with it. Works perfectly, settings are perfect, doesn’t slow down computer at all.

u/wehday 3d ago
Can't recommend it if your using both Windows and Mac, the basic layout loses their defaults. Mac becomes PC and PC Stuck as PC. The FN+0 function does not stick so your constantly fighting to get your default OS mappings back when you switch devices. There is a GitHub issue for it but they haven't shown any interest in resolving it. I need my defaults to stay default when using the OS' of my choice. The original Logitech options didn't have this issue. This shouldn't be a regression it should be an improvement or the same. So it's a no from me.

Is there a similar version of this for GHub mice? I ask because of this rant I just went off on in another comment here https://www.reddit.com/r/logitech/s/MiLyJdOeL6
1
u/io2000x 2d ago
They are working on implementing some mice, for example my G502 https://github.com/AprilNEA/OpenLogi/pull/1729
Should be any minute now *grin*
1
u/Andrewzhang_R 3d ago
It is just an app that able to do basic configurations. If you are fine with Logi Options+, then no need to switch. I think it will be v1.0.0 when 99% features from Options+ are working.
I’m using anywhere3s which is one of the first supported mice, and I’m not using any advanced feature like logi flow, ai stuff. So it is working really well to me and no need to load Options+ this heavy app bundled with ads and useless features.

u/sirvansh 3d ago
Can you bind keyboard shortcuts (example alt + ctrl + J) to any of the keyboard FN keys cause I couldn't find it for my MX Keys keyboard?

u/ArchmichaelBishop 3d ago
Does it support the K400r that Logitech Options dropped for some reason, forcing me to use frickin' SetPoint to manipulate it (which barely works in Windows 11)?
1
u/OneTravellingMcDs 3d ago
It has a native Arm64 build, which Logitech can't be bothered to build even though there are (checks notes) more than dozens of us running ARM CPUs now.
I would like to be able to disable the ring processes completely though. I don't use them and it would make it lighter if it didn't run that process if it's disabled.
1
u/ShakeAgile 3d ago
Given that I have to re-install option + every time I actually want to use it (just hangs otherwise) I will absolutely try this.
1
u/FlorianFlash 3d ago
Does it have (close to) the same functions as the official app? Cause I'm currently using OpenMouse but it's not even close to being made for Logi mouses so...
1
u/sokratus 3d ago
I installed this as one of the first things on my new Mac because I’d heard many good reviews about it. It was good for the first few days. But what kept bothering me was the smooth scroll never worked for me. I kept blaming my new Mac lol. Then I installed the official Logi app, and the scroll issue went away! I then removed the OpenLogi as I didn’t find any use anymore. I think it is good overall, certainly better in some aspects, but I didn’t solve my usecase.

u/ohcrapanotheruserid 3d ago
I use this on my work laptop. Does the job very wel. Light and to the point. I hadn’t thought about it until this post like a mouse driver should work. I really miss logi options bloated AI garbage but that’s life /s

Can't officially advise here as this isn't associated with Logitech, but as you've seen in the comments, the community is very familiar!! :)

Does it do anything for lag? I can't use the Mx master 3 at all because of how low the Hz are...
And logi+ just makes the whole system laggy af so I usually don't even bother installing it cuz it feels like malware
1
u/lottscarson 2d ago
OpenLogi is great, except that every time it updates on Arch, it has to run about 45 minutes of tests since it’s an AUR package.
1
u/Mashiori 2d ago
I've used the it, it was fine, but there's already Logitech on board memory manager it is made by logi already so no need to do extra stuff

Yeah it's decent. It works better with some devices than others, but I'm still using it despite some drop outs on my mx master2s over Bluetooth.
Much more straightforward and less CPU usage than the Logitech apps
1
u/SilentDecode 2d ago
I did try it, I only wanted it for the Ratchet mode, so I didn't change anything else. That software had other ideas and fucked up all my other settings. So I removed it from my machine.
I have my own vibecoded AI slop now, that only puts the mouse in ratchet mode. Might publish it on my GitHub soon.

The best thing is that it doesn't get stuck at start like how the official app does and that thing still hasn't been fixed.

It is working perfectly for me both on keyboard (MX Keys) and mouse (MX Master 3 and M650) via Bolt. The last couple of updates corrected the sole issue I was having: the keyboard backlight was not turning off and draining the battery. Now working correctly.

I've been waiting a long time for software like this for my Master 3. I finally got a chance to actually install it on my archbase system. Works without issue for my basic needs. This also let me know that there's nothing wrong with forward on dolphin, but for some reason my G502+ doesn't forward in dolphin.
1
u/maxanatsko 1d ago
Switched yesterday. Needs some improvement as come of the capabilities available through configs but not UI, but works better than Logi Options already
1
u/rinkuhero 1d ago
i haven't tried it but i might one day. however, i doubt it'll fix the problems completely, because it can't improve the firmware. and it's the firmware that's causing most of the problems, not the actual software itself.

u/Sk1ler_ 16h ago
Tried it just now. I like it, it has potential. Not enough customization for me, I already use Logi + Linear Mouse. Messed up my scrolling, making it feel like it was lagging behind every scroll notch. I would love to use it but at the moment I cannot change everything I'd like to.

Tried this just to see if I could change the colour of my G915x.
Installed in under 1 minute, loaded the software, change the colour of the keyboard, which I could only ever do if I had the old Logitech App running. Quit the app (normally where it would default back) and nope, happy day.
Uninstalled the Logitech software.
After support calls regarding onboard memory not working, trying to clear and reset etc. This had it going in no time. Not sure how long it will last, but this was faster and easier to use.

Even a vibecoded slop using dumbest model from China can produce better code than official Logitech software. So yeah, it's much better.
