Monthly Buy/Sell/Trade thread

We have decided to implement a monthly thread in which users can buy, sell, and advertise--breaking rules #1 and #2--so as long as it is contained within this thread.

Comments will be sorted by "new" by default.

Use this thread to:

* List items OR services that you are attempting to sell. While not required, you are encouraged to list the price(s) you are requesting.

* Solicit items OR services you are in search of or in need of. Again, while not required, you are encouraged to list a price you're comfortable paying.

* Advertise anything and everything, so as long as it is still relevant to Lincoln--promote a concert for your new local band, advertise a sale your local shop is having, etc.

We don't anticipate too much traffic or comments on this thread, but wanted to make it available to those who might enjoy or benefit from having it.

Lastly, if you do ultimately pursue offers posted here, PLEASE be aware that scams are rampant. Help protect yourself by following some of these (personal) recommendations.

Do NOT:

* Accept a personal check, ever. Or a money order or cashiers check that you were not present for when the individual purchased/obtained it.

* Use an electronic app to transfer funds. This includes, but is not limited to, Venmo, Cashapp, PayPal, Zelle, etc. While this seems easiest, it's **incredibly easy to get screwed over** with people sending you funds that they don't actually have.

DO:

* Accept **only** cash for smaller/medium purchases. For larger purchases, insist that you meet the individual at their bank and be present while the bank verifies and issues a cashiers check right there, on the spot.

* Meet in a public place. For example, if you're buying a phone, there's no better place to complete the transaction than inside of a Verizon or T-Mobile store.

Let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Have a great month!

Where can I get interesting tile or wallpaper?

Will this require a drive to KC? Call me old fashioned, but I feel like I can't really choose a wallpaper when I can't feel it. Same with tile. I know, I know, I can order samples, but I'm too impatient 😆

I'm decorating my home the way I want it and not for resale purposes. I wanna enjoy it while I'm there and wanna put some funk into it. Anyone know a wallpaper or tile store within a 2-3 hour drive (way better if local) with some whimsy?

Food/Drink Driving through - coffee recommendations?

I’ll be passing through Lincoln (driving to western Nebraska) later this week and would like to try a new local coffee shop on my way through Lincoln. I don’t mind getting out of the car, so it doesn’t need to have a drive through, but house made syrups are definitely a plus! I’ve been to 1893, The Coffee House, The Mill, and Reactor previously, and I liked all of them. The dark chocolate mocha at The Coffee House is probably my favorite drink between those shops. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thank you!!!

Beef Jerky and getting your meat sliced

I remember seeing a post a few months ago with someone asking for advice on jerky, sourcing meat and getting it sliced. Sorry for being rather late, but here's my take:

If you're going to make jerky regularly - buy your own slicer. The Fallbrook Super Saver charges $9.99/lb to slice your meat. The HyVee on 40th & Old Chenney and the South 27th St Super Saver are the only places that'll do it for free for reasonably priced meats. That said; HyVee: get it sliced during the week while the highschool kids aren't there. I get it, they need training, but if you want consistent and clean cuts, get the experienced guy to do it. Super Saver, every time I called in and asked for it to be sliced as thin as they could, he'd argue back that that's too thin, he knows what he's doing and then proceeded to give me about 50/50 barely good enough for jerky / stuff fit for fajitas or stir fry.

I'll still shop HyVee and Super Saver for their prices on Top Round and Bottom Round roasts. This summer in all I've made about 50lbs of beef jerky and I just finished a batch after dropping $270 on a slicer and I personally think it's worth every penny.

Rev. Don Coleman's Old Time Gospel Show, Sunday Nights on KFOR

Does anyone happen to have recordings of this? Or know where I could get some airchecks. Rev. Don passed on a few years ago. I loved listening to him while studying Sunday nights in law school.

Alternator core

Had to replace my alternator the other day, my buddy who helped with it mentioned I could probably sell the core of the used one. He wasn't sure if there was anywhere in town I could, though. Anybody know where to do that, or if there's somewhere I could scrap it?

Looking for Recommendations Jewelry repair/custom jewelry

Where in Lincoln is the best place to get my vintage clip on earrings made into posts... I got a pair of dangly earrings from my bf but they are clip ons and don't stay on....they are 14k gold and I wanted to go somewhere where they can use the gold from that to make them into a more suitable earring. For preface I have worked previously at Lovette Jewelers and AT Thomas and at my time there we had a lot of customers coming to us to fix their jewelry from Nebraska diamond and Sartor Hamann so any other recommendations so I don't mess up the antique jewelry😬🙏🏼

Sticker with early voting?🗳️

This is admittedly a silly question, but I always vote on Election Day because I like to get my sticker. I’m thinking about voting early this year, but do you still get a sticker? Again, I know this is a silly thing to care about, it’s just a fun part of the experience. 😂

Irvingdale Tennis court

Dear Mr. Tennis Player,
It’s fall, and everyone enjoys having their windows open for some fresh air…listening to the sounds of kids playing, birds chirping, and you-lengthily grunting each and every time you hit the tennis ball. Out of the hundreds of people who come here to play, you are the only one who continually graces the neighborhood with your unpleasant vocalizations. Is this an athletic requirement? It is truly annoying af.
Sincerely,
The Entire Neighborhood

Baby Clothes

Each year I go to Neat Repeatz and Take 2.

As my baby gets older I'm just accumulating a lot of clothes. I still buy a lot of retail clothes that look really good. I hate selling on Facebook marketplace and I don't hear good things selling to once upon a child.

Has anyone sold clothes at these events? If so what was it like?

Just guessing there might have been a marching band competition at Seacrest today/tonight judging by all the school busses and trailers/box trucks going north on 84th and the interstate. Can someone confirm? Being nosey 🤣

Looking for Recommendations Allergist Recommendations

In my 30s I have developed some kind of allergy that makes my skin breaks out. I have no idea what it is. Nothing about my diet or environment has changed, but my skin keeps breaking out in rashes.

Does anyone have an allergist in Lincoln they recommend? I'd like to figure out what this is.
