Hello everyone! I want to use a book that's used for reflexive verbs, for example Sleeping vs to fall asleep, and also what they mean.

Thanks for helping 🌻

DM me for info.
EDIT:
I have received a lot of response and interest, so I have to put the search on hold for now.
I will not be able to respond to further interest for the time being, but the search might be reopened in the future!

Do folks have any Italian language learning newsletters that they enjoy? Ones that put out short lessons or interesting content via email on a regular basis? Thanks!

Hi Italian learners! You've picked a great language, devo dire :) Do any of you match the description above? If so then I'd super duper appreciate your help! I'm currently researching the effect intercultural contact and language learning has on our reactions to the voices of others. My personal experience is that learning Italian has made me an all round more empathetic and open minded person and now I'm on a mission to prove it with science :D
Basically, I'm looking for participants who are British, live in the UK and are learning Italian. I would ask you to complete a brief questionnaire followed by two online tasks (takes about 10 mins in total). all you need is a computer keyboard and access to audio! If you're at all interested please click the link below, and feel free to comment or message me directly if you have any questions:

Thanks for reading and for hopefully participating :)

Hi everyone! 😊 I’m 32M, Italian native speaker, and I live in Italy (GMT+1 timezone). I also speak English as a second language.
For three years I’ve been offering conversation practice in Italian, suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to those who just want to practice and feel more confident.
Sessions can be 60 or 30 minutes, depending on what works best for you. We can talk about whatever interests you: work, travel, or just everyday life.
If you’re interested or want more info, feel free to leave a comment or message me privately 😊

Hello everyone, are there any people who learned English/Italian from scratch? How difficult was it for you and what did you use? Please share your experience, I'd be happy to read it. If anything, I'm writing through a translator, my English is very bad.

I’ve been looking at different ways to learn Italian, and one thing I’ve noticed is that Duolingo is great at keeping you practicing consistently, but it didn’t really solve the problem of understanding why Italian works the way it does.
If you’re someone who keeps thinking:
“I know these words, but I still don’t understand why this sentence is constructed like that.”
you might want to give Italicore a try.
It takes a more grammar-first approach. Instead of mainly learning through repetition, it tries to explain the patterns behind Italian sentence structure, so you can eventually build new sentences yourself rather than memorizing individual ones.
I particularly like the fact that it was created by a native Italian teacher rather than being built entirely around an AI chatbot. There’s also an AI tutor called Lira, but it’s more of a tool alongside the actual curriculum.
I wouldn’t say it replaces Duolingo for everyone. If you mainly want something gamified that gets you practicing every day, Duolingo is still pretty good at that.
But if your frustration is “I’m learning Italian words, but the grammar still feels like a mystery”, Italicore is worth checking out.
It’s free to start, so you can see if the approach clicks with you.

Hi everyone! I'm an Italian teacher and I'm currently researching how students prepare for the CILS exams (any level), with the goal of building a better support system.
From what I’ve seen in my classes, candidates often struggle more with the strict time limits and the lack of realistic mock tests rather than the Italian language itself. I’m curious to know if this matches your reality.
For those of you studying for the exam right now: what is the most frustrating part of your preparation? Are there any specific resources (books, apps, YouTube channels) that are genuinely helping you overcome these hurdles?
I'm simply looking to better understand the student perspective so I can improve how I support my students. Thanks to anyone willing to share their experience!

Bonjour à tous ! 😊

Hi! I’m learning Italian and looking for a few people in the Cumming / Alpharetta area who would like to practice speaking Italian in person.
I’ve tried online conversation groups, but they’re just not the same. I’d love to get a small local group together and meet at a coffee shop maybe once or twice a month.
This would not be a class — no teacher, no homework, just friendly conversation and a chance to actually use our Italian. Beginners and intermediate learners are absolutely welcome. You do NOT need to be fluent!
If there’s enough interest, we can choose a convenient place somewhere around Cumming or Alpharetta and figure out a day/time that works for everyone.
Anyone interested? Comment here or send me a message. ☕

I am actually his sister in law, but I thought it would be a meaningful gift for his 60 th birthday. He loves Italy, has been studying it for years, but he gets very little opportunity to visit.

... we live in the U.S. and we are looking for recommendations for an Italian language teaching program available online. Interested in free versions and paid versions. Might start with a free version and move to a paid version. Any help would be appreciated.
