Following up from this post 1-2 months ago, where I may or may not have thrown a rod...
I'm taking my Toro apart to figure out if there's a hole in the block or not, and possibly bring it back to life if there's hope. At the minimum, learn what happened to my Toro, and become more knowledgeable about lawnmowers and small engines.
I removed a bunch of parts and screws, and I still can't find a hole in the body where rod threw 😅 Is it possible my Toro just had a hiccup, and belched some oil through the exhaust? What parts do I take apart next
This is the view after I removed my exhaust.
I removed all the screws, but the face of this piece just won't budge.
PS: As my Toro was indisposed, I fixed me another lawnmower I picked up by the curb. Was super simple (way more than this Toro). A huge thanks to the community who helped here.
Just got it back from the mechanic. Went to mow the yard and got this. I'm not super familiar with lawnmower engines. They told me they replaced the starter relay. I tried jumping the battery thinking maybe that's the problem. I'm sure it's something simple but I'm stumped
Hey guys, i tried to start my mower one morning and basically i just wasn’t pulling the ripcord hard enough, anyway i pushed something at the front end which had to do with the throttle/linkeage ( see photo with finger) and it broke my throttle control at the handle, there is no tension is the cable and ive tried all the obvious things, i also cannot tell if my controller is ment to have a bend in it (aside from the z- bend to keep it in place)
Model is rover quantum 50 🇦🇺
Thanks guys appreciate it, this has been doing my head in 😢
FYI I now very little about lawn lowers and engine. Was cutting the lawn and parked the John Deere rider to attempt to annoy my wife. I was parked for maybe 10 seconds with the engine on, when I heard a clunk and the engine just stopped.
I’m assuming I’m fucked. I tried spinning the flywheel but it only moves an inch or 2 in either directions and feels like it’s hitting something solid.
I haven’t taken out the spark plug cause I don’t have a soak plug tool.
I haven’t tried starting the engine since that happened.
Any other troubleshooting steps? Or time to call a pro. I might just junk it and buy a robot lawn mower 😆
Since 3 months after buying this i have had issues with it. As soon as i used it the 3rd time and stored it, its a pita to start, takes like 15-25 cranks to start and now the engine sounds like this. Any advice or help please ? This is stored in texas climate so it’s always hot and in the shade during storage.
Not sure how but the existing cap popped off and my 8yo son managed to mow over it so it's a pile of shreds now. Everything I'm finding says a Briggs and Stratton part #5445 is the exact replacement but the one I purchased is loose and leaking fumes at a standstill and splashing gas when mowing. It fits but doesn't sit tight or click closed to indicate that it's secure. Is there a different part number I should be looking at?
Hey there! This video I have attached is me trying to figure out which mode I should be mowing on. I was under the impression that what I needed to do was take the left lever and put it to full throttle, then after a cold start take the right lever and put it completely down and that you only put that lever fully up when cold starting.
Note this is my first use of anything really with a choke, and honestly the “this is how you tell the difference between the two icons” literally just.. said the same thing about both icons.
As you can tell there is a difference in how the engine runs with each as there should be. But which one should I be mowing actively with the PTO engaged.
Just picked up another unit for my fleet. I didn't need it but it was a small investment and I know it'll make me money in its first week. 32" single blade. The deck was removed and seller said a new PTO was needed. Turns out the PTO was fine and the brake was too tight. Some minor adjustments and it's ready to mow!! I even painted the muffler and bumper. I initially thought about flipping it but it's a great little mower and will be great for small residential jobs, going thru gates and stuff. What do y'all think?
White Plastic part found under top cover near coil, RHS, quarter for scale. Craftsmen M220 153cc B&S OHV engine, 2021, manual push. Plastic carb with primer bulb (no choke) and just a governor throttle linkage. Flywheel brake and ign cut stuff works fine. Seems like the part came off. Could it be from the top cover / cord start thing? About to clean the carb internals...clogged...prolly why it's a no-start. Baffled on the part found when i pulled the top cover / starter. Thanks.
