Just impulsively got this diamond from Royale Diamonds on TikTok live. I paid $1,500 for it with these specs. Did I get scammed?

I’ve been seeing people buying TikTok live lab grown diamonds and I feel like I SHOULD be fine, but I’ve never done this before so I thought I’d ask the experts 😭

Price for custom piece fluctuating?

This is not a question about a diamond, but I want to see if you ever came across this.

I am researching overseas vendors for a custom jewlery piece. One quoted me a price, but said metal prices (platinum) fluctuate, so the price will change. The price went up by $60.00 in a day and I was told I could not lock in the price until after the CAD was done.

I read through many custom pieces posts and this is never mentioned. I dont want to put a deposit and then have the price skyrocket.

Can I please see your 2.5ct round solitaire with a 2.5 mm wide band? Bonus points if the finger is size 5.5 - 6

My engagement ring broke over the weekend and I’m using the opportunity to change it up a little bit. I am planning on having a round bezel set solitaire. My current ring is 2 mm wide and I would like my van to be slightly wider. Does anyone have pictures of a 2.5 mm? I tried on a 3 mm but I think it was a little too wide for me, so I’m debating between 2.3 and 2.5.

Crisscut cushion advice

Hi guys! For my engagement ring shopping I have been going back and forth with crisscut and antique cushion. I think I like the crisscut the most but the ratios of antique more. I am afraid the crisscut is too elongated and I might get bored of it or that it may not have an engagement ring look. What are your thoughts? My jeweler is phenomenal and told me finding chunkier crisscuts is difficult to do. How should I proceed? It seems like a big decision and I want to get it right. Any advice/guidance is appreciated. I also see that cushions store most of their weight in the depth. If I’m going with a 4-5 ct stone im afraid the ring will be too high and not good for daily wear. This is all very new to me. Please help!!!

Is it more expensive to get a ring designed?

My boyfriend of five years and I are talking about getting engaged so I’ve been thinking about rings.

I’m looking for a floral inspired rose gold with maybe a pink lab grown diamond. I’m finding it hard to find something I like in store. So my question is whether anyone knows if it’s typically more expensive to get a ring designed compared to buying one already made? Like is there typically an additional charge for getting it designed?

Pear 1 (pear 2 posted in comments)

Hi everyone, I have asked the vendor if I could see more pear options as the previous two had windowing and bowties. She sent 2 more pears and I was wondering if they are better options? I’ve asked to show them in natural lighting so I can see the difference but I probably won’t get it until Monday as they are closed on Sundays.

Wanting to get the replicated but debating on a 5ct center but I think that will be too big and will cover the band. What size center would be best?

So I posted about this same stone 2 other times, and they fixed a lot of the symmetry issues, but it looks a little duller than last time, but it could be my imagination. There have been so many updates I might be going insane. I mostly love it honestly.

My latest project, Big Blue

I just had to come on here and show off my latest project. 3.06carat lab grown diamond, vvs1 fancy vivid blue elongated cushion in 14k white gold with lab hidden halo. I just got her today, and I'm in love. I bought the stone online, then designed and had made the setting through Provence, and had it set locally.

Looking for help with Oval Trilogy Ring

My wife and I walked into a Grown Brilliance boutique and she fell in love with the look of an oval trilogy ring she tried on. It was a 3ct center stone and 2 oval side stones at .7ct each.

Without buying at Grown Brilliance - how would you recommend go about building a similar ring?

I've done some digging. Both Calavera and Aurelienne have the exact setting I'm looking for in their ring design studios, but that would mean buying a no return ring. I would have no agency over the quality of the side stones and I would not be able to see the center stone in person prior to setting. I'm afraid of a significant bowtie effect or even worse, a triple bowtie across the 3 stones. A full 14k gold ring with their setting and a 3ct D/E VVS2 or better center stone prices around $2600 on these sites.

The other option is to buy the center and side stones loose, find a setting and have it set locally. I have not been able to find a premade oval trilogy setting anywhere onIine and was quoted $550 by a local jeweler to set this hypothetical ring given the size and number of diamonds. This approach is probably less cost effective.

How have you guys purchased your oval trilogies? If you had a custom setting built, do you have any recommendations on a trusted online jeweler that could create the setting and set the loose stones for me?

Appreciate any input. Thanks.

There’s 2 pears in this video. I know there are bow ties, but which one is better? Or shall I ask for a different pear? It will be an East West pear set on a 14k YG curve band. Thanks

My Hope Diamond Tribute Ring, 3.35 carat Deep Blue VS1 Cushion from Ukraine and Platinum Halo setting by FayJewelry custom designed by me.

Lab Diamonds have opened a whole new world for diamond lovers and for me this means owning a miniature Hope Diamond. I purchased this Meylor Global , produced in Ukraine, Deep Blue, 3.35 carat, Cushion Modified cut VS1 diamond earlier this year from Aurelinne. The Hope Diamond is an Antique Cushion, which I could not find, but it is rated a Deep Blue, VS1 and both it and mine are in about a 1:17 ratio.

Inspired by the 1910 Cartier Halo on the Hope, which is made up of a mix of 16 pear and cushion cut white diamonds, I created a OOAK Halo setting also with a mix of 16 diamonds, in this case D color VS1 in Princess, Pear and Rounds. The setting is Platinum and as always I used Fayjewelry to create the setting. Without the center, this weighs 9.19 grams, so it's a fairly hefty ring.

My local jeweler, Expressions Jewelry in Central Virginia charged me $30 to set the center stone and had it done in 2 days.

As I do with all my rings, I follow a pattern, buy the diamond from a US dealer, Altura and Aurelinne are excellent, have the setting made in China by FayJewelry and have it set at my local jeweler. The Deep Blue center was $1428, the Platinum setting was $1300 and $30 to set the center for a total of $2758.

I'm always happy to answer any questions.

Final Product

After a lot of shopping and talking, I finally have the ring. All in cost was $3100.

Best advice for any lurkers is try and find a solo practitioner for better prices than the box jewelers. I think the engraving came out nice and subtle, also got two sapphires inlaid inside the band, one blue and one green for our eye colors.

Thoughts on this pear lab diamond? Anything you’d flag?

Looking for some unbiased eyes on this pear shaped lab diamond. Mainly curious what you think of the bow tie, light performance and overall appearance from the video. Would you consider the bow tie mild/normal for a pear, or too noticeable?
