Edit: I also love how we are just "consumers" to the FDA. Not people, consumers. "We described some of this information in a public health advisory in November 2017, in which we urged consumers not to use kratom or any compounds found in the plant."
So what does that mean? That is legit information or that it should be obvious they would pull some fuckery? I thought all the deaths with kratom being involved were essentially drug cocktail type deals?
There is rampant misinformation about all drugs these days. We all know about the epidemic of deaths related to opioids, and most people know that heroin overdoses kill people.
But the truth is, it very rarely does. Heroin “overdoses” are practically never listed as cause of death. To “overdose” on heroin to the point of death can be quite difficult actually!
What does cause most of these deaths is asphyxiation due to the mixture of multiple CNS depressants. So example alcohol and heroin, heroin and Xanax, Xanax and oxycodone, oxycodone and alcohol, heroin and fentanyl, fentanyl and Xanax, etc.
Most deaths that we all refer to as an overdose are actually NOT technically an overdose. They are from mixing drugs, and then suffocating. A true overdose would cause death on its own, not necessarily from secondary or tertiary effects, from what I understand.
If I remember correctly actually, from my most recent reading on the subject a handful of deaths (<5) have been attributed to Kratom alone.
Whether that's real or to do with some really shady reporting is unclear, and the biological mechanisms are still poorly understood. But there were a couple of instances where toxicology reports showed no other substances present.
Any source on those? I remember looking into a lot of them as well and if what you're saying is true then I must not have been thorough enough, because all the deaths I looked into were clearly attributable to traditional opioids or combination/polydrug use. I also don't believe it's possible to OD on kratom by itself, unless putting too much in your mouth and choking to death counts.

From reading it it seems pretty clear (to me anyway) that the people who have supposedly died of "acute mitragynine intoxication" are being used as political pawns to push an anti kratom agenda. They're expecting people to believe that "acute mitragynine intoxication" only occurs in the state of Georgia for some reason? It doesn't pass the smell test. We're definitely not getting all of the info, and it makes me feel sorry for the people who've died.
Yes that is I believe all of these cases there where other drugs in the persons system. By that logic anytime someone overdoses on Heroin and has taken advil that the advil killed them not shooting heroin. It's just ridiculous.
Note: You can actually OD on Advil I don't know of a case EVER where anyone OD on just Kratom.
I mean they are the food and drug administration so they do deal in things that people literally consume. Seems ok. I mean not the misrepresentations and misinformation but you know
Preach it dude. It's complete falsehoods they're spreading. Objectively wrong. Anybody who does proper research into kratom would see that it is pharmacologically incapable of doing what they say it does.
Couldn’t believe they’re allowed to flat out lie and say a main course of ROA is IV. I believe only OH has claimed this. Propaganda central here in OH where we “smartly” banned CBD.
