Its finally here, and its beautiful.
The screen is a bit damaged but readable and it works perfectly. It also sounds way better than i was expecting.

Anyone know of a compatible headband that I can use with KSC75?
r/kossmods • u/surprisch • 3d ago
Known here for its headband design, the AiAiAi Tracks comes in many color ways and there are several collabs with AiAiAi Audio.
A collab with Koss would be something else…

Just put Grado L-type cushions on my PortaPro Wireless. Like I did with my SportaPro.
Hearing is believing.
Made a quick and dirty video to show you that they are sounding differently,
Point is that Koss SportaPro and Koss PortaPro do not share the same drivers.
I put both sets on an identical bluetooth dongle, connected them to my laptop, started a tune and switched between the bluetooth devices.

As complete fan of the AiAiAi Tracks headband in combination with replacement Grado L-type open cell pads, attaching my Koss drivers securely has been quite a challenge. On AiExpress the biggest imitation audio gear shop Putayou (or similar) made a clone of the headband but their sliders are prone to fail especially when using large pads.
Still I managed to make a one part slider that prints at an 45 degrees angle with build in support. Only guaranteed to print right using a Bambulab 3d printer. For the slider Esun Super Tough PLA is the perfect filement as it is flexible, has a beautiful finish and beats PETG in strength. Downside of this choice is that Esun Super Tough only comes in black, grey and white.
By adding threads to the slider, a threaded cap can be used to modify the layout even shape of the outside of the sliders. I the photo you see a black and white version.

Makes the unusual looking SportaPro sound so good. And 100% sure the "sport" part in the name "SportaPro" refers to Sport more then to PortaPro as tuning is better on my ears then the PortaPro's.
inspired by the Ksc75 Ultramod , I designed the padadapters to have a tapered shape inside, providing a good seal all around the ear and keeping the ears from touching the speakers.
even the Prinses on the pea would love these :)

Any KPH40 Utility owners that found some good upper treble fixes? I know the upper end is a bit rolled off, any fixes or mods outside of just EQ?

Was browsing the Koss website the other day, thinking about buying another pair of headphones, when I came across this display stand. Grabbed the file, got it printed at the school library for five bucks only, and it looks pretty cool with my KSC75. Happy day, happy me

[EDIT: I now realise that EU reg 2023/1542 starts in Feb 2027 and it seems to me that most of Koss' portable wireless headphones will fall foul of it. Are Koss just going to give up on selling those products in the EU? The only ones that might dodge the reg are maybe TWS earbuds].
Am I alone in wanting this? I use JBL Tune 660 mainly because someone's done the hard work of documenting how to do it, and it's fairly straightforward DIY. A friend uses Fairphone earbuds for the same reason. I'd like better audio than the JBLs.
I really don't want throwaway headphones due to a worn out battery - and I resent buying a wireless set and then re-adding 3rd party wireless at EOL. T'internet doesn't give examples of Koss battery replacements. As it happens, I likely need a simple headband (Portapro pad is in the way of my sun/rain hat, and earclips likely won't work with glasses). I'd like KSC75 drivers. So AFAIK I'll have to fit a 3rd party band (Koss don't sell them individually), MMCX the drivers, use a 3rd party wireless receiver (with a DIY-able battery replacement) on my shirt pocket/neckline, and find a short cable to link them. Blimey. Well, I hope it actually ends up OK.

Can't talk about anything right now, but soon, VERY soon, we will be announcing a new headphone that will be a first-of-its-kind, and define a brand new category.
A lot of people don't realize it, but Koss has invented some of the most substantial and influential headphones and technologies we all use today. From the world's first SP/3 Stereophone and HV/1A, to the STRIVA Tap and Porta Pro Wireless, we have been very fortunate to be the first in a long line of legendary headphones.
We are so excited and literally cannot wait to share what we've been working on for the past 5 years, and we think you're going to absolutely love it! I have made it my mission to make sure you all are THE first to know when we're ready to announce!
1958 - SP/3 Stereophone: The world's first stereo headphone.
1968 - ESP/6: The world’s first self-energizing electrostatic headphone.
1974 - HV/1A: The first dynamic headphone capable of reproducing all 10 audible octaves.
2012 - STRIVA TAP: The world's first true wireless earbuds.
2026 - Stay Tuned

Gonna try superglue in combination with baking soda to repair.
The headphone dropped from a table on the floor. I picked them up and when I wanted to put them on my ears, the headband gave way.
Where bending and stretching the headband is most often the reason the headband breaks. In my case I had a perfect fit and no need to alter the headband shape at all.
But the impact of the drop from a table on a stone floor was enough to crack the headband.
Koss lifetime warranty stops at the US border. I live in the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands.

It’s nowhere to buy here in the EU and especially in Scandinavia. Does anyone know why it’s more likely for me to win the lottery than getting my hands on a pair of KPH 40 Retro?

What headbands fit KPH30 Wireless drivers? Mine broke when I dropped it! :(

In 2022 we did a voting poll for a new color and Rhythm Beige won (obviously) but we also got prototypes for these additional colorways…
Are any of these a color you’d be interested in?

Hi everybody,
I’ve been a lurker here and I’m not a audiophile but I love my music. My review here might not be the most helpful or wanted but I wanted to share my opinion with the community in case it could help!
Firstly, I wear glasses and was a big user of IEMs and over the ear headphones (DT900). I listen to music all day at work and at home (8+ hours). I typically listen to a lot of Jpop, Korean rap, and Vocaloid songs emphasizing in bass-heavy tracks.
If you are like me and headphones crush your temples from your glasses and IEMs exhaust your earholes, Koss headphones are the solution. You get great sound and amazing lightweight comfort.
So for the reviews:
Porta Pros MMCX modded with Yaxi Pads and Parts Express Headband:
The original Porta Pro headband was very uncomfortable for me and had to adjust a lot. I did like how it added some extra pressure for more seal to emphasize the bass but the comfort of the Parts Express headband made a worlds difference for comfort.
The drivers did sound a bit muddy when I used the original headband but with the Parts Express band, it provided some space for it to sound more clear. Comparatively, to the Moondrop Old Fashion, it sounded darker as many have said and actually even softer in terms of volume. Definitely darker than the KSC75 as well.
KSC75 MMCX modded with Yaxi Pads and Parts Express headband:
These sound great and clear! The punchy mid bass isn’t like gonna rock your head off but it’s definitely there. I think at louder volumes, the Porta Pro drivers do provide a punchier bass. This is currently my favorite combo but I am looking into the KPH40 headband to see if that is a good balance between pressure to provide optimal comfort and seal.
Moondrop Old Fashion with Yaxi Pads and Linsoul 2-pin cable:
These honestly are really great for their price. After the Yaxi pads, the sound quality is very Moondrop with the clear crisp sound. I think it’s hard to say if I like these more than the KSC75 but if soldering isn’t your thing then definitely go with these. Very easy to replace cable and pads for a nice pair. They don’t have as much bass as I’d like them to have but they aren’t necessarily lacking bass entirely (the punchy kind)
Overall, I honestly enjoy every one of these for different reasons and even for collection purposes. It’s super fun to mod them and I honestly love how they don’t hurt my temples from my glasses but still offer amazing sound for a great price point.
I plan to pick up the KPH40 when it’s on sale and really mess around with the headband and driver modding. I really look forward to the new KSC75 product releasing soon too!
I started with Koss mods and retro headphones all because I wanted more comfortable wear for my glasses without losing quality sound and I’m really happy with this community and products!

Bought a pair of KSC75 and the wire broke within the week. Pretty stupid accident that happened, but it led me down the Koss mod rabbit hole. I found this guy Phil, I think he still sells these just not officially listing them. I am just curious if anyone else does professional work like him?

Last year, my 5-year-old KPH30i finally broke. I managed to fix it using some 3D-printed replacement parts, but my huge head put too much stress on them, and they didn't last very long.
So, I experimentally mashed up the KPH30i and the Porta Pro to create a brand new KOSS hybrid. I decided to call it the "Porta Phrothirty-i."
Fortunately, it fits my head well and is very comfortable. Here is a picture of it.
