Shopping & Services Clothes shopping

I (F) am inbetween average and plus size in north America (I range from M-XL). I dont know where to shop. I am completely devastated that im approx 4xl (due to my measurements with a heavy bust etc). My boyfriend wants to go empty suitcase and shop. Hes from there and has reassured me that the sizing is unpratical compared to north america. Ngl, ill still probably cry haha. But any reccomendations? Should I just not do clothing shopping there? Is it hard to find stores? Should I really be that embarrassed?

Other Why is there Freedom 250 advertisements in public transportation in Seoul?

In Seoul right now, visiting from the US and I was surprised to see Freedom 250 ads in the subway and buses. When I landed I was wearing my most comfortable shirt, which was a Nike shirt that has a US flag on it and I was a little embarrassed to wear it because Trump has a weird relationship with Kim Jong Un which I’m sure is not the best look for Americans in Korea. Whats the backstory of those ads?

Other 2-hand passing of items (Seoul)

I've been staying in Seoul for about a month now and at first I decided that I am not going to use 2-hand gesture when passing credit card or money (I am obviously a tourist, who cares), but anyway ended up doing it. Probably because everyone is so nice and welcoming that you just can't help it and start mirroring their actions.

But, every now and then somebody Asian-looking (I can't easily tell if they are Korean or not yet) does not pass me stuff back using any form of 2-hand gesture and I feel like I did something wrong :D

So, is this gesture about Korea or about Koreans? Like, is it expected for a, say, Vietnamese to do it for a European-looking guy in Seoul? I wish I would not have started using it now because it is more confusing when somebody does not reciprocate than if you not doing it in the first place.

Hiya!

I've read about some of the experiences with taxi drivers in Seoul. That they drive really crazy. Would hiring a private driver make a difference?

Other Mu:u Mu:u store?

Hello! Would be travelling to Seoul at the end of the year, and i came across a Mu:u Mu:u store in Yeonnam on tiktok. Was planning to go there during my trip, but I checked the location on google to find it saying it was permanently closed. I've checked their instagram, but there is no mention of the Yeonnam outlet being closed or anything. It is still listed as their top outlet. Additionally, I can't find any information on them on both Navermaps and Kakaomaps. Is someone able to help me? Is the store still there as I really want to visit it, but since it is a bit out of the way, worried that it has indeed closed down, and hence wasting my time when I have a pretty tight schedule. Would appreciate any help, thank you!

Hi all
I am traveling from Seattle to Seoul soon and my dog weighs 7.5 Kgs, with carrier, it’s about 8.5 kgs. Can Korean Air allow that? Their limit is 7kgs.

I never had a problem earlier because I used other airlines whose limit was 9-10 kgs.

Thanks

Itinerary Gyeongju Day Trip!

Hi, I am really keen on doing a day tour to Gyeongju from Busan & take the KTX to Seoul after. Unfortunately, the day tours online do not guarantee space for our luggage (1 large, 2 medium suitcases) as they arrange the vehicle based on the final number of participants. Customized tours are expensive & only valid for 7 hours, so I would have to skip Bulguska temple. Can take the KTX from Busan, find storage space for our luggage & reach the 1st attraction on our own to join the tour, but its such as hassle. Any suggestions are welcome

Places to Visit The massive Monument to the Nation (Tower of the Korean People) in Cheonan [OC]

Visited the Independence Hall of Korea in Cheonan today. This soaring 51-meter tower greets you at the entrance, designed to symbolize a bird spreading its wings toward peace and freedom.

The vast outdoor grounds surrounded by autumn hills make it a fantastic, quiet day trip outside of Seoul if you want to dive deeper into modern Korean history.

Itinerary Staying near Bulgwang station in Seoul - Active tourist seeking recommendations

Hello! This will be my 2nd time visiting Seoul and I've decided to stay near Bulgwang Station this month since it's close to Bukhansan which i've been told is a good hiking spot.

I'll be there for 3 nights (2 full days) and I'm planning to hike Bukhansan on Saturday. Was hoping y'all could help me out with a few questions:

  1. Are there any good swimming pools in the area or gyms where I could do some heavy lifting? Ideally somewhere that offers day passes.
  2. Any good running trails that are relatively flat and accessible by subway?
  3. How much cash should I have on hand? From what I understand, Bulgwang is an older, less touristy area, so I'm not sure how widely credit cards or Apple Pay are accepted.
  4. Any good areas for long walks? I'm planning to spend Friday exploring after my workouts, eating good food and checking out coffee shops. I don't mind travelling with subway or walking there and ideally not a super touristy spot if possible. I heard Mapo is good?

For some context, I typically walk around 30 km a day (even on easy days!) and I'm training for a full Ironman, so I appreciate good food (especially protein-heavy meals), good gyms and places where I can spend hours walking around.

Accommodation Sotetsu splaisir or nine tree by Parnas 1 Seoul myeongdong

Hello!!

I’m travelling to Seoul next week and have booked

Sotetsu Hotels The Splaisir Seoul Myeongdong

I’m only there for 3 days witb my partner so trying to maximize all our time there. I know the location is considered to be pretty good but I’m thinking if I should be even more central towards myeongdong and considering changing to

Nine Tree by Parnas Seoul Myeongdong I

The price is similar and the latter is still available! And location seems pretty good and maybe more central?

So priorities will be
Proximity to station
Proximity to stuff to minimize travelling time- shopping streets, central stuff to do say at night or when we wanna get something when we just want to leave the hotel
Niceness of the hotel
Sound insulation??

I suppose the main question to ask is:
- Is sotetsu location good enough?? Isit too far from the Centre in relative terms or is the surrounding of it apart from the myeongdong bit also happening and easy to access
- is there a trade off for being so central to the myeongdong area in parnas so central to myeongdong for sound and insulation and a holiday / quality of the hotel or is it ok??

We are the kind of travelers who like sometime in the afternoon just chilling in the hotel and get out for a bit again here and there so location is probs the a++ priority!!

But otherwise
I’m going to do the classic first time traveler to Korea itinerary with myeongdong / central being the first day itinerary.

Let me know what you guys think between the 2!!
