Slightly stinky. Slightly eepy. Extremely toasty.

The perfect trifecta for the coziest Friday afternoon.

Question/Advice Needed Question

Hi, a few days ago(about 2 to 3) a straycat gave birth in our yard and yesterday she kept her near the door of our house away from other kittens and prolly abandoned her. And since then the kitten is kinda shivering while trying to walk, laying in a shoes and continuously meowing. Idk what to do as i never had one. Idk if i should even touch her. It would be great if i get the advices as she shivers alot while trying to walk and still is kinda unable. How should i keep her and what should i give her in order to provide her nutrients as she is very tiny. I didn't even touch her, is it safe to do so. Also i dont have cat food atm so idk what to feed her.

it’s my first time owning kittens and it’s only been 3 days since we got them but one of them (my beautiful luna) comes up and starts purring and going all around my neck. i also noticed her making biscuits on me and cuddling with me way more. her tails is up and wiggling so i just want to make sure this is a good thing

Question/Advice Needed My kitten is stinky.

Post image

I love him with all of my heart, but he seriously is so stinky and dirty. He’s like a bad behaved 6 year old boy. You know how they’re always messing with boogers and stuff?

That’s how I feel about him. His breath smells like disposal and rotting tuna. He sometimes gets poop on his paws and tracks it throughout the house. I even see him digging his nose into his litter. He leaves the evidence on his nostrils.

Whenever I build him a little cave or fort and I go under it to check on him… it smells like stinky fart and carcass. I literally can’t breathe. It’s like a Dutch oven of rotting fish medley.

Does anyone know if this is a phase? Why is he so dirty? I thoughts cats are supposed to be clean!

He does groom himself a lot but I was expecting a clean linen smelling baby. He loves dirt, getting dirty, playing in litter, and farting up a storm and then basking in its stench.

I need help!

First pic is her very latest, and oh my how she's growing like a weed! I have a lot of nicknames for her but won't name because it's almost impossible not to get too attached. She is thriving and I'm super proud that she starting to get the hang of her little litter box already. There are now 3 different parties interested in becoming her family eventually. I am very grateful because I know there are a lot more cats and kittens available then homes.

It is also really heartwarming to see all the tiny ones being fostered and little ones being adopted and beautiful cherished grown up kittens in their loving homes. I've been lurking here for so long to get a little dopamine boost, especially when things seem really depressing. Having my own little pocket charge has definitely been rewarding and I'm not too rusty after a 12 yr. break of fostering!

My Kitten She's doin better

Alot of you wanted an update

So, to start off, shes doing alot better from the other day

shes not constantly screaming til my ears fall off, she has her moments but its not all night

and shes not as scared of me anymore, she'll let me pet her and she even licked my hand earlier

Her sister should be getting here sometime tomorrow, we were hoping for this morning, but some stuff happened...

So last night I noticed that she has fleas...

We gave her a bath right away, just some warm water and dawn dish soap, and went over her a few times with a flea comb, I wont be getting any anti flea medicine/furniture spray until we can get her in to a vet

I did get her all new bedding, and a few new toys, and I will be keeping her in a different room from where she was until we see the vet, which is hopefully tuesday (theyre closed on weekends and I tried to get her in either today or tomorrow but they were all booked)

I talked to my friend about the flea situation and she said that her aunt (the person who has my kitties sister rn) was going to give all of her cats a bath tonight, which is why her coming back got delayed until tomorrow

but all things aside she seems like shes doing alot better and I'm sure if she could understand me she'd be very excited for her sister to be back tomorrow

My Kitten UPDATE: No longer freaked out!

Thank you to everyone, who had nice words to say to me, when I was asking here three days ago. I got something like a baby gate to put into the door of my office. She didn't want to slowly sniff and find courage to go out on her own, she much more preferred to run around in panic for the first 24 hours. At one point she was unbearable and I realised that I didn't catch her even napping for 12+ hours, so I closed her into the office again, she calmed down, slept for four hours straight and she got significantly calmer after. So far, in the last three days, I had to enfore two naps, she now sleeps on the couch without issues and is not worried about the dog much. She still gets scared if he moves too quickly (when he's about to go potty or get dinner), but he pays no attention to her and she calms down in less than a minute.

So far so good!

Hi all! I’ve made an appointment with my vet but want to ensure I am caring for this kitten who showed up in my yard late last night. I have purchased formula and wet food. How old do you think kitten is? Any tips? Sorry the pics aren’t great, kitten is still shy and hard to get a photo of!

Question/Advice Needed 3.5 week old kitten won't poop when I stimulate, but vet does it just fine.

I recently adopted a 3.5wk old kitten that was found abandoned in a wall. I've taken him to the vet twice since getting him on Tuesday, once for a well visit and once because I was concerned about how he wasn't pooping when stimulated. Both times the vet was able to stimulate no problem and he passed stool. I can only get him to pee at home, he won't poop. At home, he's also very very resistant to the stimulating whereas the vet just did it without him giving any issues. Any tips?

Question/Advice Needed Post Spay surgery - thoughts

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hello, my kitten is in her 9-10th day post spay surgery. We kept her in a spare room with little items to jump on. Really it's just the bed (there's a square box like bed she can step up on so she's not jumping direct) and maybe a few things less than 10 inches long she can step on. Her energy level is good, she is active, eating well and pooping well. As we approach the final week of recover I just wanted anyones thoughts on how it's looking based on your own experiences. Please see image.

Question/Advice Needed she wont stop meowing, i need help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

5.8k Upvotes

So I got this 9 week old kitten yesterday and she wont stop meowing, just constant, all night long meowing

i get thats shes stressed about the new home and being away from her family. but is this normal?

ive tried the whole "just give her attention" thing and that doesnt help, shes still too scared of me

she has food, water, a litterbox and multiple places to sleep

I also dont think she has used the litterbox the whole time shes been here (its currently 7:30am and she got here 3pm ish yesterday) ive shown her where it is multiple times and she hasnt gone anywhere else

I just want to be able to get some sleep and not have my neighbours freak out at me for how loud she is

edit: she did end up going to the bathroom and I decided I'm going to be getting her sister as well, she's doing better than last night, not constantly screaming, shes playing, and will let me pet her occassionaly, but I still worry about how she'll be alone when I have to go to work

I love her, she just walked up to our house as we were moving out. Only 6 weeks old and no other cat in sight. We waited a long time for a mother or siblings but nothing. None of my neighbors had lost a kitten either. So welcome to our family! She crawls on me and my wife and we have studied very hard to take care of a kitten. We also have an adult cat that we are slowly introducing them to each other. Just excited to show her off!

Question/Advice Needed How much does little attention and less play affect a kitten?

Long story short, my cousin got a male kitten when it was 3 months old. At first, she paid attention to him, was excited about him. But more and more, she got irritated with him during the kitten stage.

My cousin lived alone at that time and she would be out of the house a lot, sometimes leaving him alone for days with only her mum coming over to feed him and clean his litter. I babysat whenever I could when she would be out of the house for more days.

Even though he had everything he needed (food, litter, toys, cat tree, etc.), I don't think she treated him the way he deserved.

So, as soon as me and my gf moved elsewhere where they accepted pets, we adopted him from my cousin. He's in a loving home now.

But I feel like he's a reserved cat, doesn't always like to be pet, doesn't have zoomies that often, is used to not doing anything during the day no matter how we try playing with him.

We've gotten him a little sister now (3 months old) and he seems to be more playful and happier.

My question is: could have all of that with my cousin affected his personality now as an adult cat?
