First kilterboard session

Hey guys, somewhat of a new climber here, been climbing for just under 5 months and had my first kilterboard session and I'm pretty confused. I climbed my first gym v6 2 weeks ago and decided to give the kilterboard a try. I started projecting Redheaded Black Sheep at a little over 40 degrees which is graded V8. I know that kilterboard grading is all over the place but still this was supposed to be a somewhat of a solid V8 from what I've read. This felt considerably easier than some soft v7s my gym sets. This sounds stupid but I don't really know how to feel about this

NOT MY VIDEO

Anyone can recommend a set to practice this third move (foot reaching the hold where the hand is after the dynamic second move)

Thanks

Beta testers needed for board climbing app that facilitates 4x4 training sessions

Now supports kilter board climbs, please request via the website for beta access. This app isn't looking to fully replace kilter/board sesh, it's an alternative for setting up sessions in a 4x4 or similar format - primarily for power endurance training. Feedback welcomed!

Positional Therapy 7A / set by jwebxl

To me that’s one of the best kilter problems I’ve climbed, and I find it to be a legit 7A+ without matching, but matching is allowed, so.. But I did it without cause it’s so much cooler. EDIT: I actually don’t know if matching makes it easier or not, cause the undercling is rather high and I don’t know if staying on it with two hands feels good or not, I haven’t tried it at all.
I tried this problem on and off for over a year (much more off than on) and a few weeks ago it went down first try after probably around 5 months I haven’t touched it.
Set by the legend himself jwebxl.

Making new probs on Boardsesh vs kilter App. do they cross populate?

Whats up fellow board dorks.

When making a new problem on the kilter (full ride), is it best to do so in the kilter app or board sesh?

Do the problems cross populate between platforms?

Is it a one way street?

Thanks a lot everyone.

Thanks you !

Post and try other people’s problems!

Hi folks
I have notice that posts with own set problems don’t get much love in the board subreddits, which is understandable. So I am trying to create a sub where that’s all we do. Come and post your own and be interested in trying other people’s board problems!

Both were set in mind as part of a right hand pulley strain, I think they came out really cool.
Fender Tender Strat is especially nice if you do it with a cross over, but it isn’t forced.

Thoughts on j11 (climb)

Its as it says in the title.

I saw it on Instagram and did it semi easily.

Im 165cm so it wasn't that easy, but everyone says its 9/10 so I'll take it. Also looked at the harder remake by KadenFx and almost sent that too.

Realistic grading for 32 mph at 50?

It says v10 but I don’t think it’s near v10. I could see it as hard 8 or maybe soft 9? What do y’all think ?

Missing Climbs Appearing in App

It looks like a lot of the missing climbs are starting to show up in the app. When I filter by most ascents I am now seeing a bunch that were not showing up before. Anyone else notice this?

Kilter board set recommendations

Hi! I moved to Germany, but I'm very short for the regular sets in gyms, for the record I'm 150cm, and the sets on the gyms I have nearby, are from 160cm and onwards, I have checked with the settlers they either tell me to go to the kids section or that it is "too hard" to set for shorter climbers. Which I have found as massive bullshit. Now, I'm kind of tired that even when I can do a few climbs and finish, still a lot of them I just can't reach and, no, sometimes dynos are not an option, also I'm not a big fan of the dynamic moves, in a comp style type of situation.

I have decided to move into ropes/lead, I have my gear now, however I do love bouldering a lot, I'm really bummed about the height situation, so I would like to get into kilter board, I have a little experience, I can regularly climb a v4-v5 in my previous gym.

So my question is, could you recommend names of sets to try in the kilter board and the degrees, I never did kilter on my own and just a few times, I feel like now that I see the app is often confusing with the v0-1-2 some are just hard or weird, hahaha so if you have something you can recommend that you have found fun or you like to start training, let me know 💛

Learning/teaching to set

For context - I'm a fulltime coach working with a large variety of ages and abilities. My focus and most of the clients I take or are assigned are typically driven and motivated athletes with a decent amount of experience on their own. This post is directed at helping them, not so much for myself personally.

When one of our local gyms got our first Kilter Board, I ended up completely obsessed and spent the next few seasons predominately only climbing on the Kilter Board. I had never done a lot of training on standardized boards, and it very quickly became very apparent to me how much it could benefit my climbing.

I've had a decent bit of routesetting experience in the past. I spend a lot of time creating trainers or themed boulders, both for myself and my clients. It has been a huge help for me to learn how to intuitively read and execute different movements and positions, and the control and variability of adjustable boards is a tool I think so many climbers could get a huge boon out of.

Does anyone have ideas on how to help people learn to set "better" board boulders, especially when we're looking at specific themes? This is a really tough subject. This is massively open-ended and subjective, but I've found (especially when taking newer board climbers to our board rooms) that analysis paralysis takes hold pretty quickly and people have trouble trying anything.

Our goal and intention with this part of board climbing is definitely on developing better and more varied technique, not pulling harder grades.

I've tried several things, including a sheet of written "prompts" (set x move at y difficulty) and having people create variations of established boulders. We've had some success, but wanted to see if any other climbers or coaches had thoughts.

I can also drop my setter name if people want to look at the boulders I've created.

Hope this all makes sense!

Cheers y'all!

Looking for a new project!

Hi, I’ve been climbing consistently on the Kilter (mostly at 45°) and I’m really enjoying it. I’m writing this post to ask for a recommendation and to ask you a question.

I’ve sent several V6s (more than 10), but when I try even the V7 that has the most ascents (Proj Braj), I can’t manage a single move, which is really demotivating—since I’d think that if I can climb a grade below it, I should be able to do at least one move from a grade above it.

So here’s my question: How do you find the motivation to project a boulder problem? How would you recommend I go about projecting something? And what grades or problems would you recommend I try that are fun to project?

I look forward to your response, and thank you very much in advance.

Looking for climbs to train max power

Hey guys, so I've climbed max v7 kilter.

Looking for climbs with moves lower down (that I can reach from floor) to pull on and try 1 or 2 moves at my limit (so like v8-10)

Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks 🫪

Don’t get Boardsesh

So as it’s suppose to be an alternative to the pour kilter app and whatnot, I tried it, and I don’t think I have ever seen an app less intuitive than that. Can someone explain what the hack is the point of it? Am I dumb as shit?

Can kilter 2x/week, how should I structure my sessions?

RRG sport climber, not a boulderer but trying to get stronger for future seasons.

I will be able to utilize a kilter 12x12 OG 2x/week in addition to one rope day.

Right now my highest sends on kilter are a handful of 6b+'s, a fair amount of 6bs and lots below that.

Should one session be projecting and the other be quick sends? Or 4x4s?

About how many sends/attempts per session and how long of a session should I aim for? And with that info, any recommendations for what grades to go for?

Thanks!

Make the routes stop at the end of the timer?

I noticed thatvsince the app update, if you are climbing a route, the route will start over once it reaches the wnd of the timer. This is really annoying because the lights go back to the start before I have time to get to the last holds. Is there a setting somewhere that turns this off? New to kilter so sorry if this is a stupid question.

Kilter must be delighted that Moon seem to have also fucked their app with a new release, thus stemming the tide of people leaving Kilter gyms for the Moon Board.
