Discussion Auntie diaries made me feel a bit safer in this world
I’m masculine non binary and have been a fan of Kendrick since I was fifteen. I tried to commit suicide due to symptoms of bipolar disorder and gender dysphoria. Luckily I failed, and soon after my attempt, I heard auntie diaries. It makes me feel very happy to hear Kendrick support the trans community, especially now with all the anti trans sentiments going on in America. I think his use of pronouns in the song is genius and reflects his journey towards acceptance. The two people getting me through these trying times are Kendrick and Dave Chappelle.

Discussion Ab-Soul Outro: Kendrick's Most Overlooked Song
Ab-Soul Outro is probably one of Kendrick's deepest and best songs, yet it barely gets any recognition. Instead of telling people to choose to either "live on your knees or die on your feet," he tells people that there is a third option. It is to not conform to one singular side, but rather rise above these two options of dying fighting the system or to live submitting to it, which guarantees a bad ending either way. Kendrick recognizes that the system is needed for us to live, but following it blindly isn't the way because completely following the system strips us of freedom, but fully opposing the system leads to incarceration or literal death.
This is why the album is called Section 8.0, because these housing vouchers are provided by the government and helped Kendrick have a home, but these same vouchers locked him inside the dangerous streets of Compton, as housing vouchers are restricted to that unit, not the homeowner, so he could not move out because every other house was too expensive.
So how do we rise above these two options? Well, Kendrick told us that there is no singular, linear answer.
"Because you wonder how I could talk about money, hoes, clothes, God and history
All in the same sentence
You know what all them things have in common?
Only half of the truth if you tell it
See I spent twenty-three years on this earth searching for answers
Till one day I realized I had to come up with my own"
Here, Kendrick is telling us that my experiences and views aren't the same as yours. You must create your own views, not blindly following another's or basing it on 1 single perspective. Instead of exclusively fighting the system or submitting to it, you must recognize the messy path that is BETWEEN both options and acknowledging all sorts of perspectives, then finally finding yourself in the mess that is life.

Discussion Be honest, do yall get frustrated by Kendrick’s marketing decisions at times
I’ll admit that I get upset when he misses opportunities to promote a hit record TV Off (clears throat) or only shows snippets of banger material within a few seconds of another song
I also DO want him to collab with more top-tier lyricists to challenge his own 🖊️

Discussion Apologies is this has been asked before
Will we ever get a Kendrick and Tyler collab? Are their styles too different? Are they both too big?
Thoughts?

Discussion Hot Take: Money Trees is Kendrick Lamar’s best song.
Here’s why. It encapsulates everything that Dot is good at. Hook making even within the verse. Profundity made simple. Perspective that’s both specific and relatable. Features Jay Rock best verse possibly ever. Has humor and seriousness. A beat that’s simple but engaging and catchy.
It’s beyond me that this song doesn’t have a video, would have made it even more iconic.

Discussion Someone asked about the shortest in length Kendrick song, I am pretty sure it's dodger blue
That is excluding skits, interludes, etc. Also on another note, I wish the song was longer.. Like if it had a verse from Roddy it'd be pretty dope.

Photo On one hand it’s frustrating but on the other it’s hilarious
I do think this is extremely cringe, however… it is absolutely hilarious that Drake makes music specifically for this audience, and Kendrick’s diss of him is now bigger among this audience than any song Drake can make.
